Why Simone Ashley's Role Was Cut in the 'F1' Movie
Simone Ashley's role in the upcoming film F1 was unfortunately cut down significantly from the final version.
In a new interview with People, the film's director, Joseph Kosinski, explained why. 'It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use,' he said. 'There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make into the final cut.' (According to People, Ashley appears onscreen, but doesn't have any speaking lines.)
Kosinski added, 'But Simone, she's an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to work with her again.'
The Formula 1-inspired movie, set to release in theaters on June 27, stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. The cast also includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, and Kim Bodnia. (F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton also makes an appearance and produced the movie.)
Ashley's role was first announced in July 2024 after fans spotted her and Idris at the British Grand Prix in England, where the movie was being filmed. Details about her role, though, were kept under wraps.
Earlier this month, the Bridgerton star spoke to ELLE about what it was like to film F1. 'That was crazy,' she said. 'I have a very small part, but I'm grateful to be in that movie. I got to experience many Grands Prix. I don't think I'll ever do anything like that again.'
And back in March, she revealed more about the process. 'I mean, this film, gosh, has been going for years,' she told Who What Wear, also noting that 2023's SAG-AFTRA strike delayed filming. 'I met for this movie, I think, before Bridgerton even came out.'
She continued, 'Obviously, with the strikes and delays, we finally wrapped in Abu Dhabi in December. It's been a long time, and you know, it's Damson and Brad's movie. I'm just so grateful that I can be part of it.'

She also praises his skills in the kitchen, saying Joel would often cook dinner for her to come home to while she was working in finance. 'We had a couple years together before we had kids and he had completely stopped doing shows,' she says. 'We traveled everywhere. We did a motorcycle trip from Maine down to Long Island, we were on boats 24/7. We were in Europe. We had so much fun.' Alexis has been a pillar of strength for the star in recent months as he deals with a treatable brain condition called normal pressure hydrocephalus (The rocker tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that he's 'OK' and not 'deathly ill'). Dennis Arfa, the star's longtime booking agent, tells PEOPLE he's 'so happy' to see Joel 'raising his children and being so in love with them and Alexis and his family.' 'It's quite rewarding,' Arfa says. 'I'm always rooting for Billy's happiness and his success. I've seen Billy have a lot of happy times through his life, [but] he's had to deal with certain adversity. I'm happy for him in this chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter with him.' MLB Crowd Record at Speedway Classic in Bristol? Big Draw Set for Braves-Reds
Officials are expecting a record crowd at Bristol Motor Speedway to watch the Cincinnati Reds play the Atlanta Braves in the MLB Speedway Classic on Aug. 2. "We can't wait for next Saturday night ... when that first pitch is thrown out and the stands are full," Jerry Caldwell, Bristol's president and general manager, said Friday. "We'll be setting records, we'll be having attendance records. We'll announcing all those details later on, but we'll be there, I know we will." The largest crowd ever to see a baseball game was 115,300 for a March 2008 exhibition between the Red Sox and Dodgers at Los Angeles Coliseum. Bristol packed in 156,990 for the Battle of Bristol college football game in 2016. Officials showed off the work Friday with a baseball field now sitting on top of the infield inside the half-mile bullring where cars and a building once sat for NASCAR races. Workers still have some finishing touches to put on the field inside the racetrack. Murray Cook, an MLB field and stadium consultant with BrightView, said he's excited to be at this point in the process of building a ballpark. Final touches still remain for the clay along with all the padding and branding, which should be in place by Wednesday at the latest. Crews also held a light check Thursday night to make sure the Musco lights meet MLB standards. "We've had a blast building this," Cook said. Even though the Braves play the Reds in Cincinnati on Aug. 1, the day before the Bristol game, fans are being encouraged to settle in for the big party planned both outside and then inside the racetrack for game day. Caldwell said fans should show up by noon on game day to enjoy the attractions outside the track, including music, a 110-foot Ferris wheel, a food truck row, pitching tunnels and batting cages and team mascots. Once fans head inside, Tim McGraw and Pitbull are scheduled to perform. Demolition started in early June with heavy construction now in high gear to transform Bristol Motor Speedway into a ballpark for the first MLB game in Tennessee. This game features grandstand seating for fans along both baselines. Both teams will be wearing NASCAR-inspired uniforms with details like flames on the brim of the Braves' caps and a finish-line checkerboard for the Reds' caps. The MLB Speedway Classic also will be included in the "MLB The Show 25" video game after an update scheduled for Tuesday. Caldwell said the project has been long in the works. "We're ... thrilled to be able to welcome everyone to Bristol and partner with Major League Baseball, the state of Tennessee and so many others to be able to pull this off," he said. Hulk Hogan's former manager Jimmy Hart opens up about his last moments with wrestling icon

'He was great,' The 'Mouth of the South' told People on Friday about seeing Hogan for the final time about a month ago. 'He had great food to eat that night. He was talking with the fans. He was just phenomenal.' Hart revealed his shock when he learned of the wrestling icon's passing. 'So just…just overnight it all happened, but it was so positive the day before.' Hart added that when he called Hogan this week, he didn't get to speak to him. 'It just hits so fast,' Hart said about his reaction upon learning of Hogan's death. 'It was like, 'Oh my God.' We thought he was doing so well, you know? We didn't go to see him at the house and didn't go to see him at the hospital, because we wanted to make sure that he didn't get any infections or anything else, like if anybody had a cold or brought anything in. So, that's what we all did.' Hart had a decades-long friendship with Hogan, going back to their early Memphis days through WWE and later WCW and TNA.
