Television show Anupamaa has garnered a huge fan following over the years and remains one of the top-rated shows. The show is led by actor Rupali Ganguly. However, did you know that before her, the role was offered to another popular actor? In an interview with Aaj Tak's Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan, actor Rukhsar Rehman—known for her roles in PK and URI: The Surgical Strike—revealed that she was initially approached for the show. When asked if she had been offered the lead role in Anupamaa, Rukhsar confirmed and said, 'Mujhe phone aaya tha Rajan Shahi ke office se' (Yes, I got a call from Rajan Shahi's office for the show), 'but I was doing OTT at that time and had a few things going on in life. So, I said not now, I would be able to do it after a few days. But no one ever knows in advance if a show will become so successful. But yes, I mean it's all destiny. Maybe something better is waiting for me.'
Anupamaa is a television drama series that premiered on Star Plus in 2020. The show has consistently topped the TRP charts for years, despite several changes in both cast and storyline. Produced by Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi under the banner of Director's Kut Productions, it is a remake of Star Jalsha's Bengali series Sreemoyee. Rupali Ganguly plays the titular role, with Adrija Roy and Shivam Khajuria also part of the current cast. Several stars, including Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma and Gaurav Khanna, have exited the show following narrative leaps.
Rukhsar is a popular actor who has captivated audiences across both film and television. She made her acting debut in 1992 with the lead role in Deepak Anand's Yaad Rakhegi Duniya, opposite Aditya Pancholi. However, after her second film, she stepped away from the industry to get married. She returned to the big screen in 2005 with Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar and went on to feature in films such as D – Underworld, Salman Khan's God Tussi Great Ho, The Stoneman Murders, and more.

Sudhanshu Pandey Recalls Craze For 'A Band Of Boys': ‘Girls Threw Undergarments At Us'

Last Updated: Sudhanshu Pandey recalls the craze of A Band Of Boys, calling it India's answer to the Backstreet Boys. From sold-out stadiums to wild fan moments, here's what he revealed. Long before Sudhanshu Pandey became a household name as Vanraj Shah in Anupamaa or stirred the pot in the reality game show The Traitors, he was part of a pop culture phenomenon that sent Indian fans into a frenzy—A Band Of Boys. In a recent interview with Zoom, the actor-singer looked back at the early 2000s when the all-male pop band—one of India's first—was riding high on the music charts and headlining stadium gigs. 'When A Band Of Boys came, we became a rage," Sudhanshu said. 'We were like competition for the Backstreet Boys, an answer to them from India. Our songs were on the Grammy list." Pandey was part of the original line-up from 2001 to 2005 and recalled the wild fanfare surrounding their performances. 'We were the first to perform in a stadium, in front of 20,000 to 25,000 people. There were no mobile phones back then. Girls used to throw their undergarments at us," he chuckled, describing the hysteria they experienced at live shows. After stepping away from the band to pursue his acting career, Sudhanshu recently made a grand return in August 2024, surprising fans with an official announcement that sent nostalgia-loving millennials into overdrive. In a heartfelt statement, A Band Of Boys shared, 'We are absolutely elated to have Sudhanshu back with us. It's been years since we performed together as a full band, and this reunion has truly brought back the memories of our early days." Known for chartbusters like Meri Neend, Gori, and Tera Chehra, the band—heavily inspired by The Backstreet Boys—was a pop sensation of its time and remains etched in the memories of early-2000s India. While his music career has come full circle, Sudhanshu's acting journey also saw a dramatic arc. He starred as the antagonist Vanraj Shah in Anupamaa from its 2020 premiere until his departure in 2024. He recently returned to reality TV with The Traitors, where he impressed viewers with his strategic gameplay and made it to the top 5, only to be evicted minutes before the winner was declared. Anupamaa: Rahi vows to outshine her mother; Mahi opens up about old wounds

In tonight's episode of Anupamaa, Rahi experiences a moment of triumph as she successfully attracts new admissions, feeling validated in her efforts to distance herself from her identity as Anupama's daughter. Determined to establish her own legacy, Rahi vows to rise purely on her merit. She unapologetically announces her dream to beat Anupama and earn fame as a good dancer in her own right. Trophy winners though others might be, Rahi insists that genuine respect—particularly from the Kotharis—can only be achieved by her winning the coming competition. Elsewhere, Anupama tries to persuade Manohar to return to the world of dance and guide the women of the chawl. Initially unwilling, he refuses her request. But Anupama, driven by her mission, explains her reasons—she needs to raise funds for Bharti's surgery and hopes to uplift the spirited women of the chawl by giving them a proper mentor. Moved by her passion, Manohar eventually agrees, reigniting Anupama's hope for the competition. At the Shah home, Mahi suggests assisting Khyati with domestic work. On being asked about post-marital life, Mahi discloses that she wants to leave her job so Prem can concentrate on work and she can take care of the house. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo When questioned on what Rahi will do, Mahi confesses that Rahi is following her dreams, while she has always taken on responsibility back home. She remembers even in her maternal home, Rahi never assisted, and it was always "Rahi this, Rahi that. " Getting teary-eyed, Mahi tells Khyati that even though Anupama brought her up, she never felt completely welcomed as a daughter. Anupama had always treated Rahi as her biological child, and she was merely a burden to her, she believes. She admits she never received a mother's love. Khyati is touched by Mahi's vulnerability. She embraces her and promises that from now on, Mahi will not just be a daughter-in-law, but a daughter. Overwhelmed, Mahi says that, for the first time, she feels like she has a mother and a real home. However, this emotional moment sparks conflict when Rahi overhears the conversation and lashes out. She reminds Mahi that the Shahs—and, more so, Anupama—had taken her in when her parents had left her behind. Khyati then accuses Rahi of continuing to be in contact with Anupama. Much to everyone's surprise, Mahi concurs. Rahi angrily denies it, protesting that she has broken all contacts with her mother and will never forgive her. Prem quietly observes the heated argument, while Khyati and Mahi continue to believe that Rahi is concealing the truth and remains in touch with Anupama. Meanwhile, in the chawl, Anupama mobilizes the women and inspires them to join a dance troupe for the event. However, her enthusiasm is in vain—Sarita and the others are unwilling to join, leaving Anupama dejected. In the meanwhile, Sumit repeatedly calls Bharti, but she does not take his calls. He goes to meet her in frustration. The encounter is bitter as Sumit goes and severs the engagement cold-bloodedly, leaving Bharti heartbroken. Anupama and Preet are angry with him for leaving her in such a helpless position. Bharti is consoled by Anupama, telling her it's a blessening to be rid of someone with such backward thinking. Summoning her courage, Bharti confronts Sumit and orders him to leave, Anupama and Preet backing her up. Meanwhile, Anil and Prem tell everyone that the audit meeting will be conducted at their place the next time around. The family is shocked when Kinjal enters as the representative of her company. Moti Baa is particularly surprised. Kinjal does not lose any time and identifies inconsistencies in the accounts department, bringing this to the notice of Kotharis. While Gautam starts panicking about his secrets getting out, Parag takes a resolute call—it's time to get back to work.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Rules TRP Chart Amid Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta's Exit Rumours

Last Updated: TMKOC is followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, whereas Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa has slipped to the third spot on the TRP list this week. For the second week in a row, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has managed to top the TRP chart. Reportedly, the current track has managed to impress the audience and therefore, for the second consecutive week, TMKOC is in the first spot of the TRP chart. It is followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, whereas Rupali Ganguly's Anupamaa has slipped to the third spot this week. On the fourth spot is Kanwar Dhillon and Neha Harsora starrer Udne Ki Aasha. It is followed by Laughter Chefs 2, which is now heading for its season finale. Interestingly, this comes days after rumours of Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta's exit from TMKOC made headlines. It all started after fans noticed that Jethalal and Babita Ji had been missing from the 'Bhootni' plot for a long time. All the members of the Gokuldham society were on vacation in a haunted bungalow. While other characters like Bapu ji, Popatlal, Sodhi and others joined Taarak Mehta and Anjali on this vacation, Jethalal and Babita Ji were missing in action. This left everyone wondering if Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta were planning to quit the show. However, the show's maker, Asit Kumarr Modi, later issued a statement and clarified that Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta were still a part of his popular sitcom. 'As you know, social media these days has become so negative that you should try to keep a positive mindset. And Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a completely positive show. It's a family show that spreads happiness. So some people should think positively about it. It's not right to spread rumours over small things or say anything inappropriate. That's not a good thing," he told Money Control. Explaining why the two actors have been absent from the recent episodes, Asit added, 'Lekin kuch nahi hai, sab log hamari team ka part hai. Kuch unke personal reasons the to us time nahi the. To aise koi baat nahi hai." (But there's nothing like that, everyone is part of our team. They were not present at that time due to some personal reasons. So, there's no such issue.) First Published:
