Orlando Bloom expresses optimism about potential return to Pirates of the Caribbean franchise
Nearly a decade after Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales premiered, speculation about the future of the beloved Disney franchise continues to grow. With two new films reportedly in development and rumors swirling about a possible reconciliation between Disney and Johnny Depp, longtime fans are eager to see familiar faces return — including Orlando Bloom.
Appearing on ITV's This Morning to promote his upcoming film Deep Cover, Bloom was asked about potentially reprising his role as Will Turner. While remaining cautious, he appeared open to the idea, saying, 'Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely availability.' He added, 'I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like. I personally think it'd be great to get the band back together.'
Bloom was a central figure in the original trilogy but stepped away from the franchise after 2007's At World's End, only returning for a brief post-credits appearance in Dead Men Tell No Tales. Though his cameo — alongside co-stars Keira Knightley and Bill Nighy — hinted at a potential reunion, the series was soon derailed by legal and public controversies surrounding Johnny Depp.
Franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously confirmed to Collider that two scripts are in development. One is being written by Rush Hour and Catch Me If You Can screenwriter Jeff Nathanson. 'We have another one… We have two, and we don't know who's gonna win the horse race at this point,' Bruckheimer stated.
With Bloom expressing enthusiasm and developments underway, the possibility of a revived Pirates ensemble remains afloat.

That's So Raven star Anneliese van der Pol is pregnant with first child
Anneliese van der Pol, best known for her role as Chelsea on Disney Channel's That's So Raven, is expecting her first child with husband Johnno Wilson. The couple, who met on the set of Raven's Home, confirmed to PEOPLE that they are preparing to welcome a baby girl in October 2025. Van der Pol, 40, shared the news in an exclusive interview, revealing that the couple found out the baby's gender during a golf-ball reveal that burst into pink powder. 'I didn't realize how much I wanted a girl until he swung and it went pink,' she said. Despite early plans to remain child-free, the couple changed their minds last summer and were about to begin IVF treatments before learning they had conceived naturally. The two Disney alums tied the knot in December 2024. Wilson, who also stars in Twisted Metal on Peacock, added that the decision to start a family came after regular conversations about life goals. 'I highly recommend checking in with each other every few years,' he said. Van der Pol described her pregnancy as peaceful so far, crediting family and friends for helping them set realistic expectations. She noted experiencing typical pregnancy symptoms like cravings and baby movements, saying, 'I think we have another dancer on our hands.' The couple has been preparing for their new arrival using Babylist for their registry. 'It's been a game-changer,' Wilson said.

Orlando Bloom seen with Katy Perry's stylist Jamie Mizrahi amid Venice trip for Bezos wedding
Orlando Bloom, 48, was recently seen in Venice, Italy, attending Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's lavish three-day wedding celebration. The actor's appearance marked his first public outing as a single man following reports of a quiet separation from longtime partner Katy Perry, with whom he shares a daughter. During the festivities, Bloom was photographed with stylist Jamie Mizrahi, a longtime friend who previously worked with Perry. Mizrahi is also known for styling high-profile clients such as Jennifer Lawrence, Adele, and Britney Spears. She is reportedly a close friend of Meghan Markle as well. -Backgrid While their outing drew attention, sources emphasized the two are longtime friends, shifting focus instead to Bloom's recent split from Perry. News of Bloom's single status came after reports emerged this week suggesting that Perry had told friends their relationship was essentially over as early as January. A source close to the couple shared that the pair delayed a public announcement in hopes of reconciliation, mainly for the sake of their daughter. However, their demanding schedules—Perry on tour and Bloom filming Bucking Fastard in Dublin—left them spending little time together. Perry, who was seen at Sanchez's hen party, was absent from the wedding festivities as she continues her international tour. Bezos and Sanchez's wedding drew a high-profile guest list that included the Kardashian-Jenner family, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey, and Usher. The ceremony was held at an open-air theater on a Venetian island, with guests staying in some of the city's most exclusive hotel suites. Representatives for Bloom and Perry declined to comment on the breakup when contacted earlier this year and again this week. With neither party confirming the split publicly, speculation continues as both move forward with high-profile professional commitments.

As Percy Jackson turns 20, Rick Riordan reveals the truth about those movie adaptations
Two decades after The Lightning Thief first introduced readers to Percy Jackson, author Rick Riordan admits he's never actually watched the blockbuster movies inspired by his work. As the beloved book series hits its 20th anniversary on June 28, 2025, Riordan is looking back at the journey that took him from struggling writer to the architect of a mythological universe. 'When I was writing The Lightning Thief, I knew it was all or nothing,' Riordan shares. The beginning was rocky, his first book event in San Francisco drew just one young reader. But by the second book, The Sea of Monsters, momentum picked up, and by book three, he was confident Percy had a future. Now, 20 years and 17 books later, the Percy Jackson & the Olympians saga has become a cultural touchstone. Beyond the books, it's sparked a Broadway musical, a new Disney+ adaptation, and a massive fan base. Riordan credits the lasting power of Greek mythology, which he says continues to resonate because it explores timeless human experiences - love, revenge, friendship, and identity. Still, there's one part of Percy's legacy he hasn't embraced: the original movie adaptations. 'I never watched them,' Riordan admits. 'I based my opinions on the scripts. I'm thankful they introduced more readers to the books but they're a different experience.' A long-time advocate for representation, Riordan has woven themes of inclusivity and identity throughout the series. From neurodivergent demigods to LGBTQ+ characters, he strives to create space for all readers. 'If you came to Camp Half-Blood,' he says, 'you'd find people who share your background and experiences.' With Percy's world still expanding, Riordan's vision remains clear: every reader deserves to see themselves as the hero.
