'We are between seasons,' Cohen said on Andy Cohen Live. 'Last week, when I was here, the Bravo execs met with 10 potential new Real Housewives of New York. This is called the casting process between seasons and it's heavily underway.'
The rumors about RHONY not moving forward came after Bravo announced their new programming slate which included new seasons of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Season 15), The Real Housewives of Orange County (Season 19), The Real Housewives of Potomac (Season 10), and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (Season 6), among other shows. Notably missing from the list was a renewal for RHONY Season 16.
The announcement that Bravo had ordered The Real Housewives of Rhode Island fueled the rumors that RHONY was dead.
Despite the cable network confirming that the show was not canceled, the rumors have continued, given the extended pause since it last aired.
RHONY underwent a complete cast shakeup for Season 14, introducing a whole new set of Housewives, including Sai de Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield. Racquel Chevremont joined the series in Season 15, which last aired on February 4.
New RHONY embraced diversity and showed a different side of the Big Apple. The change divided fans, with some viewers feeling nostalgic about the legacy personalities, including Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer.

While both parties cited 'irreconcilable differences' in their divorce filings, fans and the media have long speculated that Pitt's closeness with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie played a big factor in their split. Pitt and Jolie, later dubbed by Hollywood as 'Brangelina,' were ultimately together for 12 years before they called it quits in 2016. The last time Pitt and Aniston's relationship was a topic on Watch What Happens Live was in August 2023, when actor Michael Rapaport opened up about attending their wedding. 'I was at Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's wedding. They had a wall of caviar. I still have some saved over,' he revealed, before joking, 'I'm still eating the caviar from that — I was shoveling it down.' The actor—who knew Aniston from his time as a guest star on Friends and Pitt from their work on the 1993 film True Romance—also said Billy Preston performed at the reception, adding that there were 'a lot of bucks there.' Following two seasons of Scandoval, the show sought to build a new cast from the ground up around the former 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star. The reboot will also include a retrospective special looking back at the first 11 seasons of the show. 'The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between,' Vanderpump said in a statement at the time. 'VPR's' big debacle began in the show's 10th season. At the time, Tom Sandoval allegedly cheated on his longtime girlfriend (and co-star) Ariana Madix — with her then-best friend, Raquel Leviss. 'Vanderpump Rules 'Teases First Glimpse into New Season After Casting Shakeup: 'Help Wanted'
Bravo first announced 'Vanderpump Rules' was being rebooted for season 12 — with a new cast joining Lisa Vanderpump — in November Vanderpump Rules is getting ready to raise the bar! On July 25, Bravo released a teaser on X for the upcoming 12th season, eight months after they announced they were rebooting the series. In the clip, Lisa Vanderpump is seen hanging up a "Help Wanted" sign at SUR as she says in a voiceover, "The faces may have changed... but my rules, they've stayed the same." The video then transitions to show the phrase, 'It's time for a shift.' While no release date has been confirmed, the clip also teases the new season will be 'coming soon.' 'New shift. Same rules. #PumpRules Season 12 shakes things up soon,' the caption reads. The teaser comes after Bravo confirmed in November that a new cast would be joining SUR and TomTom owner Vanderpump, 64, for season 12. The new cast includes a 'close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors,' the network announced in a press release at the time. Over the years, cast members have come and gone, with others like Brittany Cartwright, Lala Kent and Rachel Leviss joining the series. After the reboot was announced, a source close to the situation told PEOPLE that the legacy cast learned about the decision one day prior to the news going public. 'They're understandably upset that it's all coming to an end, but no one was necessarily surprised,' the insider said at the time. 'It's more relief that they finally have an answer.' Since 'there were so many fractions' among the cast following the season 11 reunion, the source revealed that Bravo felt they needed to move on with a new group. 'There had been a long pause in production, and nothing had really changed among the cast since the reunion,' the source added. 'Everyone was still stuck in their feelings and refusing to bend. The network felt there was no path forward with the group in that capacity.' A second source noted that money did not play a factor in Bravo's decision to start fresh, noting that the network opted for a reboot before discussions of salaries even began with the former cast members. "It was completely driven by creative," the insider explained. "There weren't any negotiations happening between the cast and the network where money was even discussed."
