Wimbledon 2025 live updates: Day 6 results and reactions as Sinner, Djokovic and Shelton all advance
The stars were out on day six of the 2025 Wimbledon Championship and they all reached the second week in style.
No. 1 Jannik Sinner made light work of his match against Spain's Pedro Martinez with a straight sets win. Mirra Andreeva (7) also won her match in straight sets against USA's Hailey Baptiste. Emma Navarro (10) outlasted 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejčíková and Iga Świątek (8) eased past Danielle Collins in straight sets.
To conclude the day's play, Novak Djokovic (6) and American Ben Shelton (10) powered past their respective opponents in straight sets as they were loudly supported by Wimbledon's faithful. Get involved: live@theathletic.com

Shelton 1-0* Fucsovics
Away we go as Ben Shelton faces Márton Fucsovics.
The American starts with the serve and quickly takes the first game.
This match has been pushed back a while but Ben Shelton and Márton Fucsovics are finally taking the grass.
Both players played briefly yesterday after their matches on Thursday were postponed due to darkness.
You might be surprised when you hear what one of Iga Świątek's favorite meals is...
Barbora Krejčíková was not feeling her best today but still put forth a gutsy effort on the grass.
The crowd repaid her with a standing ovation as she left the court. Getty Images
FINAL: Świątek 6-2, 6-3 Collins
No. 8 Iga Świątek won 61 of 103 points, beating Danielle Collins in straight sets to advance the fourth round.
She will face No. 23 Clara Tauson next, who eliminated No. 11 Elena Rybakina in straight sets earlier today. Getty Images
FINAL: Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, 3-6 Navarro
Navarro has triple match point but Krejčíková pulls out a beautiful backhand, ripping it down the line. However, on the next point, Krejčíková fires a return shot into the net and that will do it.
Gutsy effort from last year's champion but ultimately Navarro prevailed to advance. Getty Images
Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, 3-5* Navarro
This is a tough scene...
After Krejčíková drops the point, she takes a moment to herself near the back wall and appears to be in tears, clearly not feeling her best. The crowd gives her a cheer of support.
Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, 3-4* Navarro
Another game, another break. Krejčíková is persevering but she does not look like herself. She gets a double fault and then moment later, she pushes a backhand wide to drop the point.
Critical game coming up here. Getty Images
Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, *3-3 Navarro
Whatever is plaguing Krejčíková is visible yet she somehow mustered the ability to break Navarro to even this deciding set 3-3.
She looks a step slower and her shot is not as powerful but she continues to battle.
FINAL: Dimitrov 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7) Ofner
Grigor Dimitrov is through to the fourth round where he will face the No. 1 seeded Jannik Sinner.
Dimitrov recorded 15 aces in his win today, which was his 100th Grand Slam win.
Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, 2-3* Navarro
Another break, this time for Navarro. Holding double break point, she blasts a backhand down the line that gave Krejčíková no chance of returning the shot.
After the game, Krejčíková was examined by the medical staff after feeling faint. Moments later, she grabs her racket and returns to the court.
Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, *2-2 Navarro
After having her serve broken, Krejčíková returns the favor. Navarro attempts to play a dropshot just over the net but unfortunately for her, the shot just does not have enough power.
This match could come down to the wire.
FINAL: Alexandrova 6-3, 7-6 (7) Sönmez
Impressive showing by Ekaterina Alexandrova to advance past Zeynep Sönmez in straight sets, though the second one required a tiebreak. She excelled returning serve, winning 33 receiving points and going 4-6 on break points.
Barbora Krejčíková has just missed five break points on the Emma Navarro serve to open up a 2-0 lead at the start of the third and final set.
Instead Navarrro holds and the defending champion is now 3/14 on break points. It gets worse for Krejčíková as she's broken to love in the next game, and having been a set and a break up is now on the brink of elimination. Getty Images
Świątek 6-2, 0-0* Collins
In 39 minutes, Iga Świątek has taken the opening set against Danielle Collins.
Everything has gone the former world No. 1's way as Collins ended up slipping and landing on the ground a couple of times in that set.
Some 13 unforced errors from the American show where she can improve heading into the second set. She has gone off court for a short break.
Krejčíková 6-2, 3-6, *1-1 Navarro
Krejčíková had triple break point in the second game of the third set but Navarro pulled it all the way back. Krejčíková got two more break points after that and still couldn't take the point as an unforced error leads to her dropping the point.
Big stand for the American.
This match appears to hang on Świątek's first-serve percentage. She has made just over 50 percent, but is winning over 85 percent of the points when she does.
Świątek 5-2 Collins
No holding back from Collins, who's hit six winners and 13 unforced errors in the first six games.
She's had her chances but Świątek has come up with some big serves at key moments - fending off two break points to hold for 5-1.

Plans for football and rugby stadium go on show
It is hoped the new stadium will be completed in 2027 [Cumberland Council] Plans for a new football and rugby stadium are to go on show for three weeks. If approved, Cumberland Sports Village, in Workington, will have capacity for 3,700 fans and existing football stands will be replaced. Advertisement Work is due to start early next year, subject to planning permission, and completed by late summer 2027. Dave Bowden, spokesman for Cumberland Sports Village, said he looked forward to "making the project a reality". The stadium will also have capacity for 2,700 seated and 1,000 standing fans. The West Stand, the stadium's main structure, will provide seating for up to 1,000 people with wheelchair viewing spaces. The new facility will also include a function suite, executive boxes and a sports bar. The East Stand and the South Stand will be replaced with covered spaces for about 2,000 fans in total. Advertisement The new North Stand Terrace will remain uncovered. A new 3G pitch will also replace the existing turf playing surface. Scaled back plans Plans for the stadium have been in the works for more than five years and have been scaled back from an initial design for 8,000 fans. After the now-defunct Allerdale Borough Council dropped the project, the region missed out on hosting a Rugby League World Cup match because it did not have a suitable stadium. A planning application is expected to be submitted by the end of the month. The plans will be display from Monday until 25 July at Borough Park, Derwent Park and Workington Library. Arsenal confirm Martin Zubimendi signing from Real Sociedad
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Arsenal will pay a total of around €65million (£55m, $76.5m) for Zubimendi, more than his release clause — which was in the region of €60m (£51m) — after agreeing with Real Sociedad to pay for his transfer in instalments rather than in one lump sum. Advertisement The Spain international was in London last month to meet Arsenal officials and complete the formalities of his transfer to the north London club. The Athletic previously reported that Real Sociedad had expressed a preference for the deal to be completed after July 1 for accounting purposes. The 26-year-old is Arsenal's second signing of the summer transfer window — the first following the appointment of Andrea Berta as sporting director in March — following the arrival of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. Controlling the tempo. Martin Zubimendi is a Gunner ✊ Original music by Ezra Collective's Femi Koleoso. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) July 6, 2025 Arsenal are in the process of finalising an agreement with Brentford to sign midfielder Christian Norgaard and are working on a deal for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera. Arsenal have also agreed personal terms with Noni Madueke as they consider making an approach to Chelsea for the winger. Real Madrid admired Zubimendi but decided not to pursue a move for the player this summer. Arsenal's pursuit of Zubimendi was reinvigorated when the clubs were in talks over Mikel Merino's move to the Emirates Stadium a year ago, while Liverpool had attempted to sign the player in summer 2024. Midfield was a target area for Arsenal to strengthen after Jorginho left for Flamengo last month and Thomas Partey departed as a free agent at the end of his contract. Zubimendi came through the academy at Real Sociedad and made 236 appearances for the Basque club. Last season, he scored two goals and provided two assists in 36 La Liga appearances as La Real finished 11th. He has played 19 times for the senior Spain side after featuring in the youth teams, scoring twice since his international debut in 2021. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League in 2024-25 and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, but ultimately finished a fifth consecutive season without a trophy. In addition to bolstering their midfield, the north London club have shown serious interest in Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko as they aim to recruit a striker before the new season. Analysis by Thom Harris A player born and raised in a city captivated by the football of Xabi Alonso, coached by the man himself, playing where he once played — Zubimendi couldn't be better placed to become the sport's next great pivot. For all the romanticism of his footballing upbringing — his destiny at the peak of the game — Zubimendi remains as grounded and as pragmatic as they come. Advertisement With more touches, passes and carries than any other team-mate, he inspired his boyhood club to Champions League qualification in 2022-23 (they reached the round of 16 last term) anchoring a technically gifted Real Sociedad midfield with intuitive defensive positioning and expansive passing from deep. Generally, Real Sociedad like to start play from the back and they are not averse to playing short, risky passes around their own penalty area to lure the opposition in. Zubimendi is often the receiver, picking up the ball under pressure and facing his own goal. It's a role that requires not only immaculate technique, but quick and nerveless decision-making, ensuring the right pass — at the right speed, angle, and elevation — is played to allow his team-mates to progress the ball. It also needs confidence, but not too much, to occasionally look to sidestep the pressure himself. Zubimendi is the cog between the defence and the midfield – the spare man Real Sociedad need to win these mini-battles and move into the space that has been created by their brave, press-baiting build-up.
