Shoppers spot new Marmite flavour back on shelves months after it was axed as discontinued spread returns

SHOPPERS have spotted a new Marmite flavour back on the shelves just months after it was axed.
Unilever, which makes Marmite, discontinued the popular cupboard staple last year leaving shoppers very unhappy.

But now Marmite Peanut Butter has made a stunning return to the shelves and it's here to stay.
The nutty and yeasty breakfast spread first appeared on shelves in 2019 causing a stir, but was discontinued nine months ago.
However, The Sun reported last month that Unilever has reintroduced it to shelves with shoppers able to pick it up from Tesco, Sainsbury's and Ocado.
We've also spotted the 225g tub on sale at Co-op too.
Alongside Tesco, they're selling it for £3 while Ocado is stocking it for £3.50 and Sainsbury's for £3.35.
And fans have already starting clocking the returning favourite on supermarket shelves.
One eagle-eyed shopper shared their find on Facebook group Food Finds UK.
Excited customers flocked to the comments to express their excitement at the beloved spread's return.
One said: "Oh yes, it's back!
"I was gutted when they stopped making it and tried several ways to make my own but it never tasted the same."
"Wow it's back, I heard it wasn't getting made anymore," exclaimed another.
"Fantastic it's back as I love it!"
A third customer added: "My favourite snack, it's perfect for a quick snack or adding some crunch to your meals.

"The price seems really reasonable too."
Unilever confirmed it had axed Marmite Peanut Butter last September with a spokesperson adding: "We're always reviewing our ranges to make sure our products reflect shopper preferences, whilst also focusing on new innovations."
"Whilst we will no longer be making Marmite peanut butter, we are working on some new and exciting launches within our licensing range to bring our iconic Marmite flavour to shoppers in new ways and formats."
Retailers and manufacturers regularly discontinue products and items based on customer sales and trends.
Marmite Peanut Butter is not the only comeback we've seen recently either.
From an iconic retro sweet to a nostalgic noughties chocolate bar, a whole host of discontinued snacks and drinks are returning to UK shelves this month.
Why are products axed or recipes changed?

Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether.
They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers.
There are several reasons why this could be done.
For example, government regulation, like the "sugar tax," forces firms to change their recipes.
Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs.
They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable.
For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018.
It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version.
Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year.
Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks.
While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.

Sheffield City Council says it is "grappling with significant financial challenges" as it forecasts a budget gap of £70m over the next four years.A council report said the shortfall was in part due to continued pressure on high-demand services such as social care and the "situation remains tough".It comes on top of a series of recent financial challenges due to rising costs and reduced funding, which resulted in an overspend of £34.7m for report said: "The current overspends relate to ongoing pressures in key areas including persistent demand and cost pressures in social care, growing needs in special educational needs and home-to-school transport, and an unprecedented surge in homelessness." The report adds: "The council has been able to mitigate these issues in previous financial years using one-off funding and reserves however, these are not long-term solutions for financial sustainability."According to the report education, children and families overspent by £16.6m, including an extra £6m in home to school transport, due to the increased demand, with over 1,000 more children being transported to/from school than homelessness support went £11.7m over budget. The report said: "The government does not fully subsidise all housing benefit payments made by the council, even though it sets the rules that determine the amount the council has to pay."In 2023-24, the council incurred a loss of £4.9m as a result of the legislation relating to temporary homelessness and £3.5m relating to supported accommodation."The council is essentially bridging the gap between the cost of the accommodation and the amount we are able to recover via housing benefits."Councillors will discuss the report at a meeting on Thursday, 10th July. A building that used to house TK Maxx and New Look and had been earmarked as a community space is set to be City Council's cabinet has been asked to approve plans to put the Bridge Street building on the authority bought it in August 2020 using £4.1m of Towns Fund money, with the aim of using it for a community hub known as The the council then decided it would not be economically viable to house The Vine in the building, which would have included a library, learning and cultural facilities and a commercial space. Instead, the project will be spread across three sites in the city: a library and a learning and cultural space at the Central Library; a food and drinks hall at The Goods Shed in Fletton Quays; and a business start-up incubator at Peterscourt, City Thulbourn, cabinet member for growth and regeneration, said the Bridge Street site was a "significant gateway into our city centre".He said the council would be open to all offers on the building, but he hoped it would end up as a mix of commercial and residential use."It is an important site and one we must get right, to breathe new life into this part of our city centre and enhance the overall experience for people," he cabinet will vote on the plans on 15 July. Corby MP Lee Barron opposes warehouse scheme in open letter

An MP has shared an open letter opposing a warehousing scheme and urged local planners to "closely consider residents' voices".North Northamptonshire Council's planning committee is due to discuss an application for a 148-acre (60-hectare) site on greenfield land, north of Halden's Parkway Industrial Estate in Barron, the MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, said IM Properties Developments Ltd's application "fails to consider the impact this proposal will have on our communities".IM Properties said Mr Barron's letter was addressed to councillors and it would not be appropriate for it to comment on the planning process. In a report to the council's planning committee, council officers recommended the scheme for approval, subject to conditions including "the requirements of habitats regulations", as it would reduce nesting sites for report stated that 722 full-time jobs would be created under the plans, and the application "responds to strong market demand in the logistics sector". It added that more than 2,000 jobs could be expected "through direct, indirect and construction employment".The proposed site is close to the site of another warehousing scheme on Castle Manor Farm, to the east of the industrial estate, which is set to go before a planning inquiry on 22 July. In his letter, Barron said: "I would like to let residents know again that whilst I have no role in approving or rejecting this proposal, I stand against the plans."Barron said that the area "already faces challenges of road traffic and heavy goods vehicles breaching weight restrictions".Stantec, which was named in the council report as acting as the agent for the proposal, has also been approached for comment.
