If there's a meal you don't like, you can repeat a meal in this list or browse some of our diabetes-friendly recipes for additional inspiration. We aimed for protein-rich meals with about 40 grams of fiber-rich carbohydrates. If you're making a swap, you may want to choose a meal with a similar nutrition profile. Can I eat the same breakfast or lunch every day? Yes, you can eat the same breakfast or lunch every day if it's easier for your routine. Each breakfast has 41 grams of carbs and is between 339 calories and 443 calories. Each lunch provides between 35 to 45 grams of carbohydrates and 374 to 466 calories. These ranges are fairly similar, so a simple swap should work for most people. Why is there not a modification for 1,200 calories? We no longer provide modifications for 1,200-calorie days in our meal plans. The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggests that limiting calories to 1,200 per day is too low for most people to meet their nutritional needs, plus it's unsustainable for long-term health and well-being. How does diabetes impact heart health? Over time, high blood sugar levels can damage blood vessels. When the blood vessels are damaged, the risk of developing heart disease and stroke are increased. Moderately-Low Carb: This meal plan is moderately-low in carbohydrates, with about 40 percent of the total calories coming from carbohydrates instead of the 45 to 65 percent of calories from carbohydrates recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. We also spread the total carbohydrates out fairly evenly between the days meals and snacks, which can help promote more stable blood sugar levels. If you have high blood sugar levels, you may think you have to drastically cut back on carbohydrates but that's often not necessary or sustainable. For many, slightly reducing carbohydrates and focusing on protein and fiber, in addition to other lifestyle changes, can help support healthy blood sugar levels. How many carbohydrates you should eat in a day can depend on several factors, including body size and activity. If you're struggling to manage your blood sugar, consider reaching out to your health care provider for additional guidance. Fiber-Rich: Each day provides at least 30 grams of fiber, which is a type of indigestible carbohydrate that can slow glucose absorption and support healthy blood sugar levels. Fiber can also improve gut health, help you feel full and reduce cholesterol levels. Fiber is found in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. High Protein: Each day provides at least 104 grams of protein. Protein can help you feel full and reduce blood sugar spikes by lowering glucose absorption in the body. We made sure to pair protein-rich foods, like fish, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts and poultry with foods that contain carbohydrates. Pairing protein with carbohydrates can help stabilize blood sugar levels and prevent extreme highs and lows. Heart-Healthy: Because people with diabetes are twice as likely to have heart disease than people without diabetes, we created this meal plan with heart-health in mind. We capped saturated fat at 14 grams per day, with an upper limit of 20 grams on days we include fatty fish, like salmon. Saturated fat may raise LDL, often referred to as 'bad' cholesterol, which can increase the risk of developing heart dietitians thoughtfully create EatingWell's meal plans to be easy-to-follow and delicious. Each meal plan meets specific parameters depending on the health condition and/or lifestyle goal it is targeting and is analyzed for accuracy using the nutrition database, ESHA Food Processor. Mark Wright hits back at awkward Michelle Keegan question in rare family insight

Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan welcomed their first child, baby daughter Palma, in March this year and the former TOWIE star has now explained the true meaning behind her name New parents Mark Wright, 38, and Michelle Keegan, 38, have been the talk of the town since welcoming their baby daughter Palma in March, with her distinctive name sparking curiosity among fans. Mark has now revealed the inspiration behind their choice of name for their bundle of joy during a chat with his Heart FM colleague, Olly Murs, 41, who's also expecting his second child with wife Amelia. ‌ During a discussion about baby names, Olly queried Mark: "In the break we were talking about baby names. When you picked Palma, it's such a beautiful name, was there any reason behind that?". ‌ Mark shared the backstory: "So, in America, a lot of people call their kid Palmer, P-a-l-m-e-r, and we liked it, we just thought it sounded good with Wright. "And then we were like, hang on a minute, we're lucky enough to have a place in Majorca, in Palma, Palma is our favourite place in the world to go to. So we thought, let's just change the end of the e-r and change it to an a, so, because we love Palma, there you go!" Olly couldn't help but tease his mate by hinting that perhaps the Spanish city was where little Palma was conceived, jokingly saying: "So is that where you and Michelle, you know, wink-wink, had a bit of.." However, Mark quickly steered the conversation away, mindful of their listeners, and exclaimed: "Moving on! By the way her dad is a big fan of our show so...," leading to an apologetic response from Olly: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!". The former TOWIE celeb playfully retorted, "Get to that next point Mursy! So what are you talking about baby names for?". ‌ Discussing impending fatherhood, X Factor 's Olly divulged that baby names were swirling in his head as his second tot is "coming very, very soon", prompting Mark to query: "How long have you got now, by the way?". Olly, known for the chart-topper 'Heart Skips a Beat', kept it coy: "I can't tell you. You know I like to keep things private, but Amelia is very big at the moment, so we're super excited." ‌ Expressing the whirl of emotions ahead, he added, "We're starting to get nervous, that excited feeling, nerves, we're coming to the business end of it now, so it's gonna be an interesting few months." Mark couldn't resist offering some naming advice, stating: "Apparently 40% of people name their kids after something they love, hence, Palma, which I didn't realise until I saw this stat." Then he teased Olly with suggestions based on personal loves, saying: "So what I'm thinking, if you were to name your child after something you love, then maybe it could be called Peanut Butter? Or, what about Peanut!". Initially hesitant about the peanut-themed names, Olly revealed a fun tidbit that he and Amelia have affectionately dubbed her blossoming belly Crumpet, owing to her frequent yearning for the buttery snack during her pregnancy.

I tried the most popular peanut butter brands, and the best one is a classic

Nothing satisfies a comfort-food craving quite like a pillowy-soft PB&J sandwich or a spoonful of peanut butter. It's nostalgic and delicious. After testing nine of the most popular peanut butter brands, there was a clear winner. The creamy texture and salty-sweet taste reminded me of childhood in the best possible way. When I mentioned to friends that I would be testing this pantry staple, they were all quick to offer opinions. (It turns out everyone thinks they know the best store-bought peanut butter!) They also had lots of questions: Would I try creamy peanut butter? Crunchy? Organic? Salted? Because there are so many options, I stuck with creamy only (both conventional and organic) from peanut butter brands that are available in supermarkets across the country. I tasted them by the spoonful without jelly or bread to interfere with the flavor and mouthfeel. As a culinary school grad who has worked in restaurants and written about food and cooking, I can appreciate the difference between old-school creamy peanut butter and the organic, all-natural version. I bought options across the spectrum from most processed to least, and the one that creamed the competition? Well, let's just say the brand is synonymous with peanut butter. To narrow down the pool, I stuck with smooth peanut butter, ranging from processed to natural. When it came to tasting, I decided the best approach was to be a purist: Just open the jar, breathe in the aroma and dig in with a spoon. No bread, no jelly, no celery sticks. Jif Creamy Peanut Butter: As close to Skippy as you can get, Jif is a strong runner-up. It's creamy and rich, but the flavor isn't quite as craveable. It contains the same hydrogenated vegetable oil as most other conventional/processed peanut butter and has the same thick and spreadable texture you expect. It was yummy! Peter Pan Creamy Peanut Butter: This was my first encounter with Peter Pan, but I know the brand has a cult following. Peter Pan has been around since 1920, at first under a different name but then coined "Peter Pan" as a nod to the character and the play. Like the other processed peanut butter, it spreads beautifully and feels lighter, but the intense sweetness was off-puting to me. Justin's Classic Creamy Peanut Butter: I was so disappointed in Justin's, having tried and enjoyed the brand's almond and cashew butters. This was the worst-tasting natural peanut butter with little flavor to speak of and a hint of bitterness, plus grit. This peanut butter contained peanuts and palm oil. 365 by Whole Foods Market Unsweetened Creamy Peanut Butter: Made from only peanuts and salt, this was the least thick and creamy of the all-natural bunch. It's almost drippy in texture. The flavor was nutty enough and had a good kick of salt, but it's not winning medals. Good & Gather Organic Peanut Butter: Another organic and all-natural option, Target's house brand spread contains only dry roasted peanuts. When shopping, I didn't realize that this is unsalted, which gave it a real disadvantage. The texture was smoother than others, though. Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter: This alternate version of the classic Skippy is okay. Like some "natural" peanut butter, it has added palm oil, which keeps the oil and solids from separating and needing to be stirred. For my money, and if I'm going to submit to the sheer heaven that is processed peanut butter, I prefer the original Skippy. Teddie All Natural Smooth Peanut Butter: This natural option contains only peanuts and salt and is thicker than some of the others. It has an earthy, authentic peanut flavor that would likely make a good addition to dips or sauces. Now that you know which spread to buy, here's how to take your PB (or PB&J) sandwiches to the next level. Got some sticky questions? We've got answers! As far as snacking goes, peanut butter pairs perfectly with crunchy raw veggie sticks (celery, carrots and jicama all work) and sliced apples or banana. It's also delightful on top of rice cakes or as a dip for pretzels. We recently tested a variety of nut butter to come up with a list of the healthiest nut butter, which included two tasty peanut butter options — Big Spoon Roasters Peanut Crunchy Peanut Butter and One Trick Pony SIlky Smooth Peanut Butter. Some dogs absolutely love peanut butter as a treat, but dogs don't benefit from the added salt and sugar that humans may enjoy, so choose a peanut butter that's all-natural and unsalted, like Teddie All-Natural Unsalted Smooth Peanut Butter.

24 Really Shocking "It Tastes Good, I Swear!" Food Combos That People Love — No Matter How Deeply Concerning Some Are

Last week, I shared with Tasty readers that I liked pickles on a peanut butter sandwich. I really thought I was weird for that, but after everyone commented back with their own bizarre food fixations, I felt like my snack might not be so strange after all. Hundreds of people in the Tasty Community shared their favorite weird snacks, and as an appreciator of bizarre foods myself, I was impressed by how strange some of the food combos were. I've rounded up 24 of the most unique snacks below (and as weird as some of these sound, I really want to try them): 1."Marshmallows in my dad's pizza sauce. It works for some unexplainable reason." –Anonymous 2."Grilled cheese rolled into tiny balls and dipped in a chocolate milkshake. Dunno if that counts as weird, but I was judged for it, lol." –fluffyghoul1435 3."Totino's Pizza rolls dipped in apple cider vinegar." –mushycupcake208 4."Indian sweet and spicy tamarind sauce on vanilla bean ice cream with black pepper." –minicomet442 5."Camembert cheese and banana on Salada crackers with Marmite. Yes, I'm illegal." –fluffygoblin202 6."Can of cream of chicken soup, pop that sucker open, don't cook it or dilute it. Use the condensed mix as a dip for crackers." –stylishminion27 7."Cottage cheese and baked beans. Try it just once and you'll be hooked!" –Katie, 40, Colorado Hungry for actually-delicious snacks? Download the free Tasty app to browse and save 7,500+ free recipes — no subscription required. 8."I really like a cream cheese sandwich with pickles, ginger, and sriracha, and sometimes eggs!" –Liyana, Calgary 9."Popcorn and milk! You eat it like you would cereal, but with salt, butter, and milk. It goes way back in my family and was always eaten at family gatherings." –Anonymous 10."Twizzlers and Peanut Butter; especially JIF Chocolate PB." Melanie, 47, Texas 11."Banana and mayo sandwiches. TRUST." –Becca Burgess, Instagram 12."Strawberries dipped in sour cream and then brown sugar. Fresh strawberries are best. Wife thought I was crazy, but when she tried it, she loved it." –Jason, 53, South Carolina 13."Dill pickles dipped in vanilla yogurt." –Ann Fort, Instagram 14."Not me, but my friend started ranting one day about how she really wanted vanilla ice cream with Doritos and pickles. Personally, I like crushed Lays in yogurt. I know it sounds really weird, but one day I was out of granola and tried crushed chips instead. The saltiness paired very well with the sweet yogurt. Also, my other friend loooooves putting blueberries on her avocado toast (she swears by it)." –Anonymous, 26, USA 15."Pasta (any kind, but I prefer rotini or radiatori) with raspberry vinaigrette and queso fresco. Amazing combination of sweet but tangy, and the saltiness of the cheese. Been eating this for years and my family can't stand it." –Anonymous 16."Hard-boiled eggs with peanut butter and jelly on top." –Jessica, Instagram 17."The liquid in the Vienna sausage cans. I pour it on a cup of rice and dig in! My friends call me weird for that. 🤷‍♂️" –James, Threads 18."Watermelon with blue cheese and sunflower kernels. Rosemary crackers, strawberry-jalapeno jam, sharp cheddar, and a sweet gherkin. Both totally weird, both totally DELISH!" Mary Smith, Threads 19."Cottage cheese mixed with a squirt of mustard mixed in, eaten with hearts of palm. It's SO WEIRD, but SO DELICIOUS!" –Jill Kimmel, Threads 20."I don't remember how or why I discovered this, but eating a really sharp cheddar cheese with a glass of orange juice just does it for me. Something about the tartness of the juice cutting through the sharpness of the cheese. So good!" –Nick, 44, Minnesota 21."Spicy Cheetos dipped in vanilla yogurt. Not for everyone, but it is my favorite vice." –Anonymous 22."Trader Joe's Takis on a bagel with plain cream cheese!" –Anonymous 23."Oreo dipped in hot sauce. The spiciness complements the creamy filling surprisingly well." –Ashley, 58, Italy 24."A cinnamon raisin bagel with lox." –Anonymous Do you have a "weird" snack that belongs on this list?
