Man charged with murder in connection with woman's death in south Edmonton
At about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, police officers were called to a house in the area of Charles Bay and Charles Way after someone reported that a woman had been injured. When emergency crews arrived, they found the victim in 'medical distress' and paramedics tried to save her life but she died at the scene.

An autopsy was completed on Thursday and police said it concluded that the victim died of 'sharp-force trauma.'
In a news release issued on Thursday afternoon, police identified the victim as 45-year-old Ramona Bowen.
Police said 41-year-old Matthew Harper has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.

Police said investigators believe Bowen and Harper were known to one another but did not say how.

A little over an hour later, police said the road had reopened and most of the bison had been recaptured. One was still outstanding, as officers warned people not to approach it. By 12:40 p.m., almost two hours after the road closure began, the final animal was found. 'All bison are accounted for and have returned home safe and sound,' police said in a social media post.

The 34-year-old man, Elston Coutinho, was arrested on Friday and has been charged with second-degree murder. Durham Regional Police Service had issued a Canada-wide warrant last month after responding to a house fire at Primrose Court and Fairport Road in Pickering on June 14. Police said a 69-year-old woman was found dead inside the residence. Trial begins for 2024 Moscow concert hall attack suspects
A trial began Monday under tight security for 19 defendants accused of involvement in last year's shooting rampage in a Moscow concert hall that killed 149 people and wounded over 600 in one of the deadliest attacks in the capital in years. A faction of the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the March 22, 2024, massacre at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in which four gunmen shot people who were waiting for a show by a popular rock band and then set the building on fire. President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials have claimed, without presenting evidence, that Ukraine had a role in the attack.
