As per NDTV reports, A woman in her mid-20s, identified as Srividya and working as a college lecturer, died by suicide just six months after marrying Rambabu, a village surveyor. In her note, she described the harassment that began barely a month into their marriage.
According to the note, Srividya endured a disturbing pattern of domestic abuse at the hands of Rambabu. He would allegedly return home intoxicated, subjecting her to physical violence and verbal abuse.
The abuse included humiliating her in front of others, using derogatory language and inflicting severe physical harm. The situation became so dire that Srividya felt compelled to take extreme action.
Authorities have been informed, and an investigation into her death is currently underway.

The accused, Pulok Malakar, had been working at two private hospitals in Silchar and was widely known as a gynaecologist. His arrest followed a tip-off, after which police raided Shibsundari Nari Shiksha Seva Ashram Hospital in Silchar while he was in the operation theatre performing a C-section, NDTV reported. 'We got information about him and started an investigation. After verification of all the documents, we found that all his certificates are fake. He was a fake medical practitioner and was running the business for many years," said senior police officer Numal Mahatta. Malakar, a resident of Sribhumi in Assam, was produced before a local court on Monday and sent to five-day police custody. His arrest is part of a larger crackdown in Assam on fake doctors. In January 2025, the state government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma formed the Anti-Quackery and Vigilance Cell — a dedicated unit working with the police to identify unqualified individuals posing as medical professionals. Since its formation, the cell has filed 13 FIRs and arrested 10 fake doctors across the state. One suspect remains on the run, and two cases are under investigation. Most of the individuals caught have been targeting lower and middle-income patients in both rural and urban areas. Last month, four fake doctors were arrested — two in Nagaon and two in Jorhat — after FIRs were filed by state anti-quackery officer Dr Abhijit Neog. Kochi IT Executive Accused Of Sexual Harassment After Filing Blackmail Case
A week after a top IT executive filed a complaint against his former employee and her husband for allegedly blackmailing and threatening him for a substantial sum of money, a case was registered against him on Tuesday following a counter-complaint by the woman, accusing him of sexual harassment. This fresh development comes just a week after a local court granted bail to the Kochi-based couple, only hours after they were taken into custody by the Ernakulam Central Police. The duo, identified as Krishna Raj and his wife, allegedly blackmailed and trapped Venu Gopalakrishnan -- the CEO of Litmus7, a leading IT firm based in the Infopark campus -- forcing him to transfer Rs 50,000 into their bank account. According to Gopalakrishnan's complaint, the couple even coerced him into signing two cheques of Rs 10 crore each in their names. The woman had been employed at his firm but had recently resigned. Following her resignation, the couple allegedly plotted to fabricate a false case and began threatening the businessman, demanding Rs 30 crore. They warned that if he failed to pay, she would accuse him of being in an extramarital relationship with her and of sexually assaulting her. Based on Gopalakrishnan's complaint, the couple was arrested on July 30. However, they were granted bail later the same day. The latest development came on Tuesday, when the Kochi police registered a case against Gopalakrishnan following the woman's complaint, accusing him of sexual harassment and issuing threats. In her complaint, she stated that it was only after she expressed her intention to file a complaint against Gopalakrishnan with the internal complaints committee of the IT firm that he allegedly framed them in a false honey trap case. With a case now registered against Gopalakrishnan, alongside the ongoing investigation into the couple, the two separate probe teams are reportedly considering a coordinated approach to move the investigations forward.

Last Updated: The Surrey Coroner's office stated that the investigation into Sunjay Kapur's death "has revealed that he died of natural causes". Businessman Sunjay Kapur, who died last month while playing polo in London, died of natural causes, British medical authorities said in a letter to his wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, on Sunday. The Surrey Coroner's office stated that the investigation into Sunjay Kapur's death 'has revealed that he died of natural causes" and listed left ventricular hypertrophy and ischemic heart disease as the causes of death. The left ventricular hypertrophy is a condition in which the muscular wall of the heart's left ventricle thickens, making it harder for blood to be pumped effectively. The condition often develops when the heart is working harder than normal or because of higher blood pressure. Meanwhile, ischemic heart disease involves a condition in which the heart muscle doesn't receive enough blood and oxygen, usually due to narrowed arteries. The coroner's office in its report, mentioned, 'In light of this, the investigation has now been discontinued pursuant to Section 4 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009… there will be no need for an inquest." NDTV reported. They added that Rani Kapur's subsequent claims – that he was 'murdered as part of a transnational conspiracy' are bewildering. Notably, Rani Kapur last week wrote to Surrey Police and said she has 'credible and concerning evidence… that suggests that her son's death may not have been accidental or natural, but may have involved foul play…" Rani Kapur's letter gained massive public attention, pointing towards a family dispute. This started with her e-mail to the board of Sona Comstar demanding that it postpone an annual general meeting. She identified herself as the 'majority shareholder of the Sona Group', which includes Sona Comstar and Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd and alleged she had been 'compelled to sign documents" while she was grieving for her son. She also questioned the decision to appoint 'certain people (i.e., Priya Sachdev Kapur)". In fact, she also highlighted 'gross illegalities" in company affairs. Soon after Rani Kapur's statement, the company responded and stated that Ms Kapur is not a shareholder, majority or otherwise, and had not been one since 2019. The company said in May 2019 a 'declaration of significant beneficial ownership" named Sunjay Kapur as the 'sole beneficial owner…" The board also denied her claims that she was forced to sign documents behind closed doors.
