Starz Gives Prequel Series OUTLANDER: BLOOD OF MY BLOOD a Season 2 Renewal Ahead of Its Season 1 Debut — GeekTyrant
Production kicked off on Season 2 in Scotland this week, on the same stages where the mothership series Outlander filmed over the last decade.
'The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary and we're thrilled to continue these epic love stories in Season Two,' shared Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of the new series, 'Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamored by these new couples when they meet them this summer.'
The prequel follows the romance between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield), and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), parents of Jamie's soulmate across time, Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe).
From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways. As a stand-alone series, viewers don't need to have watched Outlander to follow the storyline. However, for fans of the original series, there will be origin stories for many fan-favorite characters.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood also stars Tony Curran (Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat), Rory Alexander (Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser), Séamus McLean Ross (Colum MacKenzie), Sam Retford (Dougal MacKenzie) and Conor MacNeill (Ned Gowan).

Comic-Con Sneak Peek Teases Jamie Fraser's Fate in Final Season of 'Outlander'
Comic-Con Sneak Peek Teases Jamie Fraser's Fate in Final Season of 'Outlander' originally appeared on Parade. The stars of Outlander were at Comic Con San Diego on Friday, July 25, and they were ready to open up about filming the final season of the popular series based on the books written by Diana Gabaldon. Outlander stars Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser), Richard Rankin (Roger MacKenzie), and executive producers Maril Davis and Matthew B. Roberts all sat on the series panel on Friday morning to dish about what viewers can expect in the new season. Caitríona Balfe (Claire Fraser) was unable to make it due to work on another project, but did send in a video message wishing attendees well and expressing her regret that she couldn't attend in person. Heughan did open up about what it was like filming the final season, which has already wrapped filming. He shared, "It was a very, very hard season to shoot. I think there were so many emotions going around. And I think day to day, you'd be like, 'Oh, this is just another day at work. We've been doing doing this 11 years.' But then other days, you'd be like, 'This is the last time I'm gonna work with this person or put on this costume or whatever.' So it made the last season very charged, I think, and a lot of scenes are very charged, but that all adds to this very dramatic storyline anyway. So it's more Outlander, just a mega XL version." The show-runners also shared a video at Comic Con that consisted of a compilation of the first seven seasons, with a never-before-seen sneak peek at the eighth and final season: In the clip, Jamie can be seen reading a book that was written by Claire's first husband Frank (an historian in the future). She asks Jaime, "What does it say?" He ominously replies, "War is coming to the back country ... and that James Fraser dies in it." 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Fans aren't too concerned yet though — Jamie has already "died" at least twice, and been near death too many times to count. Regardless, our time with Jamie, Claire, and all the inhabitants of Fraser Ridge are coming to a close in early 2026. As sad as we are that the series is drawing to a close, we can't wait to see what happens. Jamie Lee Curtis confirms she'll star in 'Murder, She Wrote' movie: 'Oh, it's happening'
She also teased that she's "very excited" to dive into the role first brought to life on TV by Angela Lansbury. The mystery of who will star in the lead role of a Murder, She Wrote film adaptation has been solved. When asked point-blank what the chances are that fans could see her pick up the mantel of Jessica Fletcher, the mystery writer and amateur detective first brought to life by the late Angela Lansbury in the long-running CBS series of the same name, Jamie Lee Curtis didn't hold back. "Oh, it's… happening," Curtis playfully confirmed to Entertainment Tonight at the world premiere of Freakier Friday. "We're a minute away, but yeah, [I'm] very excited. Very excited. But I'm tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting. I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I'll get to enjoy that work." Deadline first reported in December that the Oscar winner was in talks to star in a Murder, She Wrote film at Universal written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Previously, in October 2013, it was reported that NBC was planning a reboot of the series, but by January 2014 it was revealed that it was not moving forward. The original Murder, She Wrote, which ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996, focused on Lansbury's Jessica Fletcher, who became embroiled in various murder cases that took place in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine, as well as other locales around the globe. Created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link, the crime drama also starred Tom Bosley, William Windom and Ron Masak. Considered one of the most successful and long-running series in history, Murder, She Wrote was a hit with the industry and public alike. At the height of its popularity, it averaged 30 million viewers per week, according to the L.A. Times. Though she never won, the role earned Lansbury a whopping 12 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The update from Curtis is a positive one for the reboot. As she alluded to, though, Curtis has much on her plate at the moment before she can pick up a magnifying glass. First up for the star is reprising her role of Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday, the sequel to the beloved 2003 film starring Lindsay December, she'll be seen in James L. Brooks' dramedy film Ella McCay alongside Emma Mackey, Woody Harrelson, Kumail Nanjiani, Spike Fearn, Ayo Edebiri, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Julie Kavner, Becky Ann Baker, Joey Brooks, and Albert Brooks. In addition to Murder, She Wrote, Curtis currently has another three projects in various stages of development. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
