Celebrity Bake Off: Meet New Judge Cherish Finden

Graziadaily6 days ago
We've still got a while to wait until The Great Celebrity Bake Off returns to our screens in 2026, but already rumours are flying about potential shake ups to the show.
The new season of the show will reportedly see pastry chef Cherish Finden join the judging panel alongside Paul Hollywood. She's been tipped as judge replacing Prue Leith, after she exited the Celebrity spin-off last year due to its demanding filming schedule.
Earlier this year, we saw Caroline Waldegrave join Hollywood as a judge on the celebrity version of the show, but for 2026 it seems Cherish Finden will be the one judging the creations on our screens.
Cherish Finden is a Singapore-born pastry chef. She's had a successful career in the culinary industry, and has been fascinated by food since she was a child. Finden's first job was as a waitress in a restaurant when she was 14, before she enrolled on a pastry course at Shatec Institutes.
From there, Finden applied her talents at top hotels across Singapore, such as the six-star Raffles Hotel. In 2001, she relocated to London with her family, where she joined the Langham Hotel as executive pastry chef. And she even has royal links. Finden famously created a Windsor Castle-shaped cake for Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday in 2016.
Cherish Finden is 57 years old.
Yes! Since 2016, Cherish has appeared on Bake Off: The Professionals. On this show, she developed her reputation for exceptionally high standards and no-nonsense critique. But while she can be stern, she's also fair - Finden tries all the challenges for herself ahead of the show, to check the time allocated to the contestants is suitable.
This isn't her only TV accolade. Finden has also appeared on Heston's Great British Food on Channel 4, BBC's MasterChef, Australian MasterChef, BBC2's An Extra Slice and Junior Bake Off. She is also the judge for Best Afternoon Tea UK.
Last year, Prue announced she would be stepping back from The Great Celebrity Bake Off. However, she will still star alongside Paul for the main series.
In a chat with This Morning last year, Prue explained she wasn't leaving the show permanently but was finding the demanding filming schedule difficult to keep up with. This meant she decided to step back from the celebrity edition.
She said: 'These things are filmed back-to-back all the way through summer from April to August so you don't get any time off. I'm getting quite old and there's places I want to see. So I'm not doing this year's.'
Yes! You can keep up to date with all things Cherish, including her mouth-watering creations, at her Instagram handle @cherish_finden.

Aussie UFC star Tai Tuivasa lights up a massive joint on social media, here's the reason why he won't face any sanctions for it

UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa has never been shy about living life on his own terms – and his latest viral moment is no exception. The Australian cult favourite, known for drinking beer from a shoe after each win, posted a video this week puffing on a massive joint while sweating it out in a sauna. The post, shared to his Instagram account with the caption '@bambambudz,' shows Tuivasa enjoying marijuana in a relaxed setting, despite still being an active member of the UFC roster. While it might raise eyebrows, Tuivasa won't face any sanctions from the UFC or law enforcement. That's because the UFC no longer punishes fighters for marijuana use, as long as they're not under the influence during competition. Tuivasa, who currently sits at No. 10 in the UFC heavyweight rankings, hasn't fought in 2024 and has spent time recovering, refocusing, and reshaping. After reports his weight had ballooned to 140kg, the Sydney-born slugger appears to have slimmed down, with fans noting the change in recent appearances. Tuivasa is targeting a return to action in early 2025, aiming to end a frustrating losing streak and put himself back in title contention. But fighting isn't his only hustle. The knockout artist has also entered the booming American cannabis market, launching his own weed brand: Bambambudz. Tuivasa revealed the business in a post back in March, posing with three massive bags of marijuana in front of a greenhouse full of cannabis plants. With a grin and a double peace sign, he declared, 'COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU US,' teasing future distribution in US states where cannabis is legal. Those include California, Colorado, Illinois and New York – key markets in a $15 billion industry. Bambambudz plans to expand even further, with future dispensaries reportedly being eyed in Thailand. Bambambudz is eyeing US expansion and potential dispensaries in Thailand's shifting market Cannabis was legalised for recreational use there in 2022 before the government moved to restrict it to medical purposes in 2023. Despite the regulatory grey areas, Tuivasa's brand is already generating hype among fans and cannabis users alike. He joins a growing number of athletes embracing the weed business, from Mike Tyson to Nate Diaz. Tuivasa is no stranger to outside-the-cage ventures either – he co-owns Drink West brewery alongside NRL star Nathan Cleary and fellow fighter Tyson Pedro. His larger-than-life personality, brawler mentality, and sense of humour have earned him a loyal following. Even through his recent losses, 'Bam Bam' remains one of the most entertaining figures in the sport. From walk-off knockouts to Joe Rogan-shocking shoeys, he brings energy no one else in the UFC does.

True story of socialite Claus von Bulow accused of trying to murder his heiress wife as scandal becomes TV series

Apple is working on a limited series about late socialite Claus von Bulow, who was famously accused of trying to murder his wife Sunny in the early '80s. According to Deadline, the prestige streamer already has British playwright Jack Thorne attached to the project. Thorne was most recently behind Netflix 's psychological crime drama Adolescence, which won universal acclaim from critics and became one of the most-watched Netflix shows of all time. The Danish-born Bulow was found guilty of the attempted murder of his heiress wife in a 1982 trial before being acquitted in 1985 following a second trial. The second trial was televised, making it the first major criminal trial in the United States to be broadcast live on television. He was accused of using insulin injections to try to kill the heiress so that he could get his hands on her $100million fortune, which she had inherited from her Pittsburgh utilities magnate father George Crawford, who died when she was just three. Mrs Bulow was first found unresponsive in one of the many bathrooms at their Rhode Island home while celebrating Christmas with her family in 1979. She slipped into a coma and was rushed to hospital, where she was miraculously revived. Doctors determined that the coma was the result of low blood sugar and diagnosed her as hypoglycemic. The following Christmas she was found unconscious again, but this time she had suffered severe enough brain injury to fall into a persistent vegetative state. The socialite ended up in a coma that lasted for the rest of her life, up until her death in 2008. In a sensational trial, her husband was accused of trying to murder her - being first found guilty, then dramatically cleared. Mrs Bulow's children from her first marriage to Prince Alfred von Auersperg hired private investigators to find out if Mr Bulow was behind what happened to their mother. He was charged in 1982, but released on $1million bail. Mr Bulow was found guilty in 1982 and sentenced to 30 years in jail. Just three years later, the verdict was thrown out and a retrial took place. Mr Bulow hired celebrity attorney Alan Dershowitz, who would later defend O.J. Simpson and Jeffrey Epstein, to get his conviction overturned. Celebrities took the stand to speak in Mr Bulow's defense, including writer Truman Capote, and a media firestorm ensued. According to Dershowitz, one prosecutor on the case said, 'This case has everything. It has money, sex, drugs; it has Newport, New York and Europe; it has nobility; it has maids, butlers, a gardener.' After being freed, Mrs Bulow's children had Mr Bulow removed from their mother's will and left him without a penny. Only the couple's biological daughter, Cosima, stood by him and he denounced any entitlements in favor of her being able to equally share assets with her half siblings. Mr Bulow was able to divorce Mrs Bulow in 1988, while she was still comatose. Their Manhattan apartment and Newport mansion were turned over to the von Auersperg children from her previous marriage. Dershowitz went on to write a book about the trial which was turned into 1990 film Reversal Of Fortune, starring Jeremy Irons as Mr Bulow and Glenn Close as his wife. The film was enormous hit, earning rave reviews from critics and winning Irons the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1991. After his acquittal, Mr Bulow moved to London and became a fixture on the social scene. He died in his London home in 2019 at age 92.

Kiss rocker Gene Simmons has two strict rules for buyer of his lavish $28 million home

Kiss co-founder Gene Simmons had a message for potential buyers of his Beverly Hills mansion: He didn't want them to rock and roll all night and party every day. 'You have such wonderful times there, you don't want some schmuck in the place you call home,' Simmons, 75, in April told The Wall Street Journal as he sought to sell the opulent Southern California abode. Simmons, who played bass and shared vocals with Stanley in the iconic band, laid forth specific rules for the type of buyer he preferred to sell to. 'No drugs, no alcoholics,' the Haifa, Israel-born musician. 'I don't want anybody coming in there who is going to destroy the place. The I Was Made For Lovin' You artist - who performed in the famed heavy metal band and merchandising juggernaut with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss - was able to sell the Beverly Hills abode for double the $14 million asking price, according to The 7,741 square foot Beverly Hills home has four bedrooms and five bathrooms, and was built in 2017. It is located in the luxe Los Angeles enclave on a hill that provides views of neighboring areas such as Century City, Coldwater Canyon and the Pacific Ocean. 'Family is forever,' Simmons told WSJ of the home while it was on the market. The Forever artist continued, 'You want someplace that can be your business center, close to everything that you need in L.A., but also a place where your kids want to come over and hang with you.' Simmons told WSJ he and his spouse Shannon Tweed Simmons had long resided in Beverly Hills, and picked up the pad home in 2021 amid a planned move to Las Vegas, as a way to maintain a presence in the City of Angels. But the Hide Your Heart artist and his wife found the desert heat of Las Vegas punishing, and relocated back to the Beverly Hills home, putting the Sin City abode on the real estate market. Simmons told WSJ that for 'privacy, views and location near movie studios, business partners, and his children' were all factors in the selection of the Beverly Hills home. The listing was held by Compass agents Lisa Young, Kennon Earl and Thomas Davila.
