Delhi Police apprehended 18 illegal Bangladeshi nationals in Ashok Vihar
New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): In a joint combing operation by the Foreigners Cell of the North-West District Police, 18 illegal Bangladeshi nationals, including five transgenders, were apprehended from the Ashok Vihar area of Delhi.
Police also recovered seven smartphones installed with the banned IMO app, which the accused were allegedly using to stay in touch with their families in Bangladesh.
During the operation, the team strategically cordoned off the target area and conducted a comprehensive verification drive.
Approximately 100 jhuggis and 150 lanes were thoroughly inspected as part of an intensive combing exercise.
During the course of the operation, a suspicious individual was apprehended and subjected to detailed interrogation. Although he initially attempted to mislead the authorities, he eventually confessed to being a Bangladeshi national. Based on the information provided by him, other members of his family were also located and apprehended. In total, 13 individuals, including 10 adults and 3 children, were identified as Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the area without valid travel documents, visas, or permits.
Their presence constitutes a violation of the Foreigners Act, 1946, as well as other applicable immigration laws.
During the operation, the team observed and identified five individuals engaged in begging at various locations who were presenting themselves as transgender women.
Upon closer verification, it was found that these individuals had altered their physical appearance to resemble women by using heavy makeup, traditional female attire such as sarees and salwar suits, artificial hair (wigs), bangles, bindis, breast enhancement techniques, and other feminine accessories. Some had also modified their voice and body language to closely mimic female mannerisms.
Preliminary interrogation raised doubts regarding their Indian nationality, leading to their apprehension for further inquiry. During detailed questioning, they revealed that they had adopted these disguises and had even undergone minor surgeries and hormonal treatments to alter their sex and appearance in an attempt to evade detection. The misuse of transgender identity by foreign nationals to circumvent legal scrutiny not only obstructs lawful enforcement procedures but also adversely impacts the perception and rights of the genuine transgender community.
All the individuals were taken into custody on the spot and shifted to the Foreigners' cell for detailed interrogation and documentation. During interrogation, 7 mobile phones with the banned IMO app installed were found with them. (ANI)

3 women on way to Puri's Rath Yatra die in road accident
Three young women on their way to participate in Rath Yatra celebrations in Puri on Saturday died after they were run over by a bus on a highway connecting Bhubaneswar and the coastal pilgrim town, police said. Devotees participate in the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, in Puri.(ANI) The incident took place near Pipili over a bridge when the three women, who were travelling on a two-wheeler, were hit by a motorcycle following which they fell down on the road and came under the wheels of a government bus. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the death of three women and extended condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. He also announced a compensation of ₹ 4 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased persons from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Meanwhile, a youth, identified as Shibaram Behera, died after coming under the wheels of a chariot during Rath Yatra in Shikula village under the jurisdiction of Purushottampur police station in Ganjam district on Friday. In another incident during Rath Yatra celebrations in Bhadrak, a boy identified as Soumyaranjan Raut (14) died after a DJ vehicle used for the celebrations overturned at Anaharapur village in Dhamnagar block of the district on Friday night, police said. Soumyaranjan's father had died just eight months ago, Dhamnagar police station inspector-in-charge Gopal Krishna Jena said.

Counterfeit racket accused held in Sitapur
Lucknow: The UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (UP ATS) on Saturday arrested a fourth accused in connection with a counterfeit currency racket operating across multiple states. Wit this, all four identified members of the racket are now in custody. The latest arrest was made in Sitapur, where the ATS apprehended Anas Ahmad of Gandhinagar under Sidhauli police station. He was picked up from Ahmedpur Jat Road area and found in possession of fake Indian currency worth Rs 1.05 lakh. Seized materials included 22 forged Rs 500 notes, 94 fake Rs200 notes, 8 counterfeit Rs100 notes, and A4-sized thread paper sheets valued at Rs74,400. Anas confessed he received fake currency from Gajendra Yadav, alleged mastermind who was arrested from Hapur on Jun 27. Gajendra, of Baghpat and railway employee, was arrested along with his associate Siddharth Jha near Bhojpur Road in Hapur attempting to deliver Rs3.9 lakh in counterfeit currency. Raid at a rented flat in Dinesh Nagar Colony uncovered their printing hub, yielding sophisticated equipment including security paper and printers . TNN

Last DNA match done, 260 bodies handed over: Min
Ahmedabad: A gruelling fortnight-long exercise to identify all victims of AI flight 171 finally ended on Friday, with forensic experts finding a DNA match for 32-year-old passenger Anil Khimani. His was the last sample out of 241 passengers and crew that perished in the tragedy, which the experts were toiling to match. Khimani was a native of Dahisara village near Bhuj. His mortal remains were handed over to the family on Saturday, confirmed Civil Hospital officials. With the update, state health minister Rushikesh Patel, in a release, stated that bodies of 260 victims of the air tragedy, which includes 241 passengers and crew and 19 killed on the ground, have been identified and handed over to their kin. Those on board included 181 Indian nationals, 52 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national. Out of the total, 31 were flown for the last rites, whereas the rest were sent by road. "Out of the Indian victims, 73 are from Ahmedabad, 29 from Anand, 24 from Vadodara, 14 from Diu, 13 from Maharashtra, 12 from Surat, and 11 from Kheda among others," the minister stated in the release.
