Delhi Police apprehended 18 illegal Bangladeshi nationals in Ashok Vihar
New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): In a joint combing operation by the Foreigners Cell of the North-West District Police, 18 illegal Bangladeshi nationals, including five transgenders, were apprehended from the Ashok Vihar area of Delhi. Police also recovered seven smartphones installed with the banned IMO app, which the accused were allegedly using to stay in touch with their families in Bangladesh. During the operation, the team strategically cordoned off the target area and conducted a comprehensive verification drive. Approximately 100 jhuggis and 150 lanes were thoroughly inspected as part of an intensive combing exercise. During the course of the operation, a suspicious individual was apprehended and subjected to detailed interrogation. Although he initially attempted to mislead the authorities, he eventually confessed to being a Bangladeshi national. Based on the information provided by him, other members of his family were also located and apprehended. In total, 13 individuals, including 10 adults and 3 children, were identified as Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the area without valid travel documents, visas, or permits. Their presence constitutes a violation of the Foreigners Act, 1946, as well as other applicable immigration laws. During the operation, the team observed and identified five individuals engaged in begging at various locations who were presenting themselves as transgender women. Upon closer verification, it was found that these individuals had altered their physical appearance to resemble women by using heavy makeup, traditional female attire such as sarees and salwar suits, artificial hair (wigs), bangles, bindis, breast enhancement techniques, and other feminine accessories. Some had also modified their voice and body language to closely mimic female mannerisms. Preliminary interrogation raised doubts regarding their Indian nationality, leading to their apprehension for further inquiry. During detailed questioning, they revealed that they had adopted these disguises and had even undergone minor surgeries and hormonal treatments to alter their sex and appearance in an attempt to evade detection. The misuse of transgender identity by foreign nationals to circumvent legal scrutiny not only obstructs lawful enforcement procedures but also adversely impacts the perception and rights of the genuine transgender community. All the individuals were taken into custody on the spot and shifted to the Foreigners' cell for detailed interrogation and documentation. During interrogation, 7 mobile phones with the banned IMO app installed were found with them. (ANI)

Family of 9 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants apprehended in Delhi
The Delhi Police on Sunday said they had apprehended nine members of a family from Bangladesh, including an infant, from Bharat Nagar, northwest Delhi for allegedly living illegally in India. A smartphone with the banned IMO application that the accused used to contact their relatives in Bangladesh was recovered from them, police said. The nine illegal immigrants crossed into India through the Cooch Behar border in West Bengal a few months ago, police said. Initially, they lived in Mewat, Haryana, where they worked at a brick manufacturing unit. Fear of getting caught by the Haryana Police brought them to Delhi a few weeks ago. Since then, they frequently changed footpaths and were in the process of securing rented accommodation in their attempt to blend in, said deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Bhisham Singh. 'The Foreigners Cell received information regarding the presence of an illegal Bangladeshi migrant in Bharat Nagar. We conducted a raid on Friday and checked nearly 100 lanes and 50 footpaths. A suspect was apprehended during the raid, and he was interrogated. Initially, he tried to mislead the team members by claiming to be an Indian citizen. However, upon confrontation, he confessed to being a Bangladeshi national. His interrogation led to the apprehension of eight other members of his family: his wife, children, and his 45-day-old grandson,' said Singh, adding that all nine were handed over to the foreigners regional registration office (FRR) for deportation. Three Bangladeshi women, including one posing as transgender, held in Delhi
Three Bangladeshi women residing illegally in Delhi, including one who posed as a transgender, have been apprehended from North West Delhi's Mahendra Park, police said on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Aleena (22), Tangina Rahaman alias Deepa (22), and Suhan Khan (30), said DCP (North West) Bhisham Singh. Two of the accused were found using smartphones with the banned IMO app to communicate with their families in Bangladesh, police said. 'In May, a team of the Foreigners Cell began analysing social media accounts of suspected individuals. During this exercise, it was observed that a suspected illegal Bangladeshi transgender was residing at Mahendra Park. She was allegedly disguising herself as a woman from West Bengal and had taken to selling momos from a street cart to avoid suspicion,' he added. The police identified the woman as Deepa, who was apprehended on Thursday after she posted a video reel on social media showing an ice cream cart and inadvertently revealed surrounding buildings in a lane. The officers scanned about 50 lanes to locate the area and then identified the house shown in the reel, said Singh. 'During questioning, she revealed that she had been in a relationship with a man she met on Facebook. After a period of online communication, she illegally crossed the Bangladesh border and entered India. Her boyfriend received her in West Bengal and subsequently brought her to Delhi, where they started living together in a rented accommodation. Neighbours knew her as Deepa and believed her to be a native of West Bengal,' he added. She allegedly told the police that she had crossed over to India illegally through Hili and Benapole border areas in West Bengal. Following her questioning, two more Bangladeshi women were detained, said police. Both initially claimed to be Indian citizens married to local men, but their phones and personal items revealed otherwise, said police. All three have been handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) at RK Puram for deportation proceedings, said officers.
