Daniel portrayed DS Gavin Troy in the popular ITV series alongside John Nettles, who took on the role of lead detective Tom Barnaby. The actor is now preparing to step into the shoes of DCI Tom Barnaby for a fresh stage adaptation of The Killings at Badger's Drift. Speaking about his upcoming role, Daniel described it as "it's a massive promotion" whilst acknowledging he has "big shoes to fill". In conversation with the Northern Echo regarding his new part and the guidance John Nettles offered him, the actor revealed: "Barnaby and Troy had an almost father/son, mentor/pupil relationship, and that is very much like my relationship with John," reports the Express. "When he learned that I was taking on the role in the play, he said, 'Well, he's learned at the feet of the master.'" He continued by explaining that John had advised him to "be true to himself," which is precisely how he's approached tackling the character of Tom Barnaby. Daniel and John worked together from the pilot episode in 1996 right through to 2003, when Daniel chose to depart the series. "I spent all those years standing next to him, watching and listening, so hopefully I have absorbed a bit of his magic," he reflected. "It's a bit daunting, because his are big shoes to fill, but I'm really excited about doing it." The Killings at Badger's Drift marked Caroline Graham's debut novel and served as the foundation for the inaugural Midsomer Murders episode. The stage production delves into the world of DCI Tom Barnaby and DS Gavin Troy as they unravel the mysterious demise of the much-adored Emily Simpson in Badger's Drift. The play's blurb entices audiences with: "A night of murder and mystery, full of theatricality and intrigue, with the central partnership of Barnaby and Troy, a whole host of English eccentrics and this real dark undercurrent of secrets and lies." When Daniel's character exited the series, he wasn't directly replaced. Instead, his departure was scripted out, paving the way for a succession of sergeants before Neil Dudgeon stepped in to fill John Nettles' shoes as DCI John Barnaby in 2011.

Netflix's Wednesday confirmed for season three but fans all have same complaint
Netflix's Wednesday is set to return for its second season next month with show bosses confirming a third season with Jenna Ortega will also be on its way. Netflix's hit show Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega has been confirmed for a third season just weeks before season two is set to debut next month. Wednesday is returning for its second season on August 6 after the global success of the first season of Wednesday in 2022 saw it claim the title for the most-viewed English-language series on Netflix of all time. The announcement of the third season was made on the show's official Instagram page on Wednesday evening, of course. The poster cover shows Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams, staring out into the distance with an ominous look on her face. Below her is Uncle Fester's hand holding a crystal ball with the number 3 on it. The words on the image read: "Bad things come in threes." The Wednesday account captioned the announcement: "Season 2 awakens in two weeks. Season 3 is the next omen, already in motion, already inevitable." Part one of season two is set to drop in less than two weeks time on August 6 while part two will arrive later in the year on September 3. Season three has not been given a release date as of yet. Fans of the show were left delighted with the update as they raced to the comment section. An update One excited follower exclaimed: "WEDNESDAY SEASON 3 CONFIRMED?? I'm breathing black glitter right now." Another chimed in: "This has made my day. I can't express how freakin' happy I am right now. Every day is Wednesday!" However, elsewhere on X, formerly known as Twitter, other viewers appeared to not get too excited about the announcement as they all made the same remark about how long it will take to be released. Replying to the tweet posted by Netflix which announced the news, one wrote: "Too long of a gap between each season, half of the audience is already gone." A third made a similar remark as they wrote: "So we can expect it around 2030..." Another echoed: "I hope we don't have to wait 12 years for season 3 like we have for season 2." Somebody else joked: "Airing 2040 with 8 episodes." The first season of Wednesday aired in November 2022 and was a colossal hit on the streaming platform. However, fans have now been waiting almost three years for season two, which appears to have left many viewers disgruntled by the long period between seasons. Hopefully the wait will be worth it though as Season 2 of Wednesday is set to explore darker, more complex stories, while also retaining the show's signature macabre humour. Co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough said: 'We think Season 2 is funnier as well!' The second season will also see the Addams Family and Nevermore lore being expanded with mysterious new characters being introduced. Familiar faces including Morticia, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gomez, played by Luis Guzmán, and Pugsley, portrayed by Isaac Ordonez are all set to return in expanded roles. Viewers will want to stick around for season 3 too, which promises to go even further, on every level. Gough said: 'Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can. We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.' Co-creator and show runner Miles Millar added: 'We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!'

On its website, Flourish Craft Bakery shares that it's a "community-focused bakery, offering a personal touch to those who value quality over quantity". The bakery has a wide range of items on sale, along with its own on-site cafe open every day from 8am to 4pm. Describing the cafe, Flourish shares: "Tucked away on an unassuming industrial estate, our on-site café and pizzeria is a surprising little oasis. "Here, we serve delicious, thoughtfully prepared food in a warm and welcoming space." Food served at Flourish Bakery includes a full English breakfast for £14.35, a Reuben for £11.95, eggs Benedict for £9.95, and sliced avocado on toast for £9.85. The cafe also offers a selection of sandwiches and wraps like the Harissa chicken bap for £8.80, the sausage in a bap for £7.50 and the ultimate bacon sarnie for £6.50. From Wednesday to Sunday, the cafe's Loading Bay Pizzeria is open from 12pm, offering a range of pizzas, including the Portobello for £13.50 and the Americana for £12.50.
