‘Eat 5 Star, do nothing': DMK's ‘Happy Chocolate Day' swipe at AIADMK's Palaniswami
The DMK's IT cell shared a satirical video with a cartoon version of the AIADMK General Secretary, mocking his alleged inaction regarding several issues in Tamil Nadu.
The issues covered in the video were related to the NEET ban, imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu, significance of the Keeladi archaeological findings, funding for the Tamil language, the state's rights in democratic research representation, and more.
The video shows a cartoon Palaniswami switching through TV channels as regional news blared the issues of the state. The video ends with the message - 'Happy Chocolate Day, Mr Palaniswami.'
During this, the video also showed the AIADMK leader eating a 5-star chocolate, which is known for its tagline - 'Eat 5-Star, Do Nothing.'
Ahead of the DMK's viral video, the AIADMK general secretary, last week, called on opposition parties to come together to defeat the MK Stalin-led party.
'All like-minded parties should unite to defeat the DMK, which is anti-people and whoever wants DMK to get defeated, we are happy to form an alliance with them. Their cooperation is needed for this — that is my opinion,' Palaniswami was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The AIADMK chief's call for unity against the DMK comes ahead of the 2026 assembly elections in the state. Palaniswami has expressed confidence in defeating the current DMK government in the polls next year.
Tamil Nadu is set to head to the polls in 2026. Ahead of the polls. The last elections were won by DMK, led by MK Stalin, with a total of 133 seats. Meanwhile, Palaniswami and the AIADMK formed the opposition as it trailed behind with 66 seats.

Chennai: TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai on Tuesday said he was treated with disrespect at the Vallakottai Murugan temple consecration in Kancheepuram despite arriving on time. The DMK allies called for action against HR&CE officials while minister P K Sekarbabu visited the Congress leader and assured action. "The minister expressed regret for the incident," Selvaperunthagai said. The controversy related to the consecration ceremony of the temple, which took place after 17 years. CPM state secretary P Shanmugam said Selvaperunthagai's caste (SC), was the reason for the alleged discrimination. VCK MP D Ravikumar called for abolition of discrimination in temples.

DMK functionaries gherao minister in party event, refuse to allow him
Pudukottai: Tension prevailed for a while in the DMK's booth level agents (BLA) meeting in Pudukottai on Tuesday as party functionaries and cadres gheraoed DMK's principal secretary K N Nehru and refused to let him in. They demanded changes in the party's urban district unit leadership. In a similar event at a different location, functionaries expressed their dissatisfaction over the district-level leaders constantly sidelining the backward class welfare minister Siva V Meyyanathan, an MLA representing the Alangudi constituency in the district. Sources said that the BLA meeting for the north and south districts of Pudukottai DMK was conducted in two different wedding halls in the town. The meeting for the north district was organised by the district secretary K K Chellapandian and for the south district by the secretary and minister for natural resources S Regupathy. When municipal administration minister Nehru entered the south district meeting venue, supporters of Meyyanathan expressed dissatisfaction over the south district's leadership for constantly ignoring the MLA's images in the party's banners.
