Toyota Glanza Prestige Edition launched: Here's what it gets

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has refreshed its premium hatchback offering, the Glanza, by introducing a new limited-period 'Prestige Package' accessory bundle. Aimed at enhancing the car's visual appeal and cabin ambiance, the package is available across dealerships until July 31. This latest update builds on the Glanza's growing popularity in India's competitive hatchback market. The 'Prestige Package' includes several stylish, dealer-fitted cosmetic upgrades. These comprise chrome-accented body side mouldings, rear lamp and lower grille garnishes, door visors, illuminated scuff plates, and a sporty rear skid plate. Though optional, these accessories are expected to appeal to buyers seeking a more personalised and upmarket look for their vehicle. Launched in 2019, the Toyota Glanza is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and has carved a niche for itself with over two lakh units sold since its debut. It is particularly popular among urban commuters and first-time buyers, thanks to its combination of fuel efficiency, modern features, and compact proportions that suit city driving. Under the hood, the Glanza continues with the same 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine that delivers a peppy yet efficient performance. Customers can choose between a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox, while a CNG variant is also available for those prioritising low running costs. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency of 22.94 km/l for the AMT variant and an impressive 30.61 km/kg for the CNG model. The hatchback remains well-equipped with features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Head-Up Display (HUD), 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, and connected car technology via Toyota i-Connect. Additionally, safety has received a boost with six airbags now being offered as standard across variants. Priced from ₹ 6.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated Glanza continues to offer great value in the premium hatchback space. It also retains Toyota's standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, which can be extended up to 5 years or 2,20,000 km—reaffirming the brand's commitment to reliability and peace of mind. With the addition of the Prestige Package and enhanced safety features, Toyota's Glanza is now an even more compelling choice for buyers looking for a stylish, feature-rich, and dependable hatchback.

Toyota and Lexus tease the interiors of their upcoming GT and LFR prototypes at Goodwood

The interior of the upcoming Toyota and Lexus GT cars gets a dual tone treatment. Check Offers At this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, Toyota and Lexus offered enthusiasts a rare early glimpse of what appears to be their next flagship supercar. Dubbed the Toyota GT Prototype, the camouflaged model was seen alongside its racing counterpart, the GT3-spec version. While official naming remains undecided, insiders and visual cues suggest the production car could eventually debut as the Lexus LFR. Interior first look The official Goodwood livestream captured the first detailed look inside the road-going prototype's cabin. The interior leans towards a motorsport-inspired setup, blending performance materials with luxury elements. Carbon-fibre racing-style bucket seats, padded more generously than pure track variants, dominate the layout. Red leather and Alcantara upholstery pair with aluminium accents to create a modern, purposeful atmosphere. A large infotainment screen takes centre stage, positioned above a row of physical switches, emphasising driver engagement alongside contemporary tech. Unlike typical industry practice of concealing prototypes until full reveals, Toyota and Lexus chose to showcase both road and race versions at Goodwood, offering an unusually transparent preview. Both vehicles were first previewed by the GR GT3 Concept in 2022, and they're expected to replace the Lexus RC F GT3 on the racing front while introducing a fresh road-going model positioned above the Lexus LC500. Watch for more Expected engine and performance While Toyota and Lexus have not confirmed technical specifications, strong indications suggest both models house a powerful V8 engine. This V8 is likely supplemented by twin turbochargers and an electric motor, with potential combined outputs speculated to exceed 800 horsepower. If confirmed, this would far surpass the Lexus LFA's naturally aspirated V10, which produced 553 hp back in 2012, a clear sign of how performance benchmarks have evolved. Also Read : Toyota Glanza Prestige Edition launched, now gets 6 airbags as standard Design and market positioning Visually, both prototypes feature an elongated bonnet, a wide front grille, and a distinctive rear design. The road-going car is fitted with four tailpipes and a subtle lip spoiler, while the GT3-spec racer sports a more aggressive aerodynamic package, including a large rear wing. When it reaches production, this supercar is expected to rival high-performance models like the Aston Martin Vantage and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. It will also offer a notable performance step up from the Lexus LC500. Launch timeline Though still referred to as the 'Toyota GT Prototype' and 'LFR' interchangeably, the final branding, whether under Lexus, Toyota, or Gazoo Racing, has yet to be confirmed. Current indications point to a global unveiling either by late 2025 or sometime in 2026. Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2025, Best SUVs in India. First Published Date: 12 Jul 2025, 10:45 am IST

Save us from our Champions

India is on a path to overtake Japan and Germany to become the third largest economy in the world in the next year or two. Greater size means greater global heft. However, there's one aspect in which we clearly underperform not just these economies but much smaller ones. India does not have one company that is known across the world for its products – no Nintendo, Sony, or Toyota, no Mercedes, Porsche, or SAP. Why do so few of the products our national champions create dominate internationally? Our large domestic market, for example in passenger cars, gives us a base on which to innovate. High tariffs keep imports out. Yet, Indian car exports are modest, focused on niche markets in Latin America, West Asia and Africa, where the durability and affordability of Indian models are prized. Not one car model has been sold in large quantities in the developed world. In contrast, China produces some of the leading passenger EVs, dominating every aspect of the supply chain, including autonomous driving systemsand fast-charging long-range battery packs.
