2025 Genesis Electrified GV70: Mid-size electric SUV detailed for Australia
Following price rises of between $5600 and $16,000 for the updated petrol-powered GV70 range in November 2024, the facelifted Electrified GV70 – its official name – is again available in one all-wheel drive specification grade, this time dubbed the Signature Performance variant, is now available for $132,800 before on-road costs.
That's up from the previous Performance variant's price of $125,059 and significantly more than other mid-size premium electric SUVs including the Polestar 4 (from $78,500 plus on-roads) and BMW iX3 (from $91,000) lineups, both of which open with rear-drive variants, and the AWD-only Audi Q6 e-tron (from $115,500) and Lexus RZ ($121,059).

The battery-electric five-seat medium SUV, which joined the current GV70 range in 2022, also now commands a $32,600 price premium over the flagship petrol-powered GV70 Signature.
For 2025, the Electrified GV70 gets a bigger battery pack with the same 84kWh capacity as seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 electric SUVs, replacing the previous 77kWh unit.
It adds a claimed 17km to the driving range, which now officially stands at 462km (up from 445km, both according to the WLTP standard).
To make it easier to charge, Genesis has fitted the GV70 EV with an electrically opening charging port cover with improved lighting and a heating element to aid its cold-weather operation.
Thanks to its 800-volt electrical architecture, a 10 to 80 per cent battery top-up can be accomplished in a claimed 19 minutes using a 350kW DC fast-charger (if you can find one in Australia).
The 2025 model uses the same 320kW/605Nm dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain as previously – which spikes to 360kW/700Nm for 10 seconds in 'Boost Mode' – and comes with the same 4.4-second 0-100km/h acceleration claim.
Visual changes include a new wheel design and revised bumpers, with the rear indicators now placed higher up from the bumper and integrated into the tail-lights.
Cabin updates include a 27-inch OLED (Organic LED) integrated dashboard display, which the Korean automaker says offers a 30 per cent larger information area and works in conjunction with the driver's head-up display.
It includes updated graphics, navigation and voice recognition – for features including the air-conditioning, windows, sunroof and seat heating – with the system accessed via thumb recognition.
The Nappa leather upholstery covers a front passenger seat which now has integrated seat memory, which was previously only offered on the driver's side.
There's also ambient lighting from the dashboard to the doors, a two-tone steering wheel with updated Genesis logo, and a digital rear-view mirror.
A 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound system is also new for 2025 and includes 'G-Matrix' aluminium speaker grilles, while a new air aroma diffuser controls the scent in the cabin.
Advanced driver assistance systems include navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA2) and Force Collision-avoidance Assist 2 (FCA2).
The FAC2 system brings Junction Crossing, Evasive Steering Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 to the tech suite.
Also designed to improve both passenger and driver comfort is Crosswind Stabilisation, an Intelligent Front Lighting System including a Dynamic Welcome Light, and new rear suspension bushings intended to reduced vibration.

WA news LIVE: More wild weather on the way for Perth
Latest posts Latest posts 9.30am More wild weather on the way for Perth The clean-up from yesterday's storm continues after the city was lashed by howling winds, more than 20,000 lightning strikes, and hail the size of golf balls. And the winter blast is not over yet, with further warnings in place today to avoid the coast. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a coastal hazard advice for beaches between Jurien Bay and Bunbury, advising there is a vigorous cold front moving across the South West this morning. 'Large and powerful surf conditions are possible, which may lead to coastal erosion and localised damage to coastal infrastructure between Bunbury and Jurien Bay,' it warned. Lancelin locals have reported the fierce weekend weather has already washed away 1.5 metres of coast, with the iconic lookout on the brink of collapse. The conditions are expected to ease by this afternoon. 9.30am Across the nation and around the world Here's what's making headlines today: Foreign Minister Penny Wong has committed a further $20 million to the Gaza humanitarian response after some 90,000 pro-Palestine protesters walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to demand an end to a worsening crisis in the Middle East. It takes Australia's total contribution to $130 million, and will support humanitarian organisations to provide food and medical supplies. Lynne McGranger has won the Gold Logie for the most popular personality on television, a result that seemed practically ordained from the moment she walked the red carpet mid-afternoon in Sydney in a gold-hued gown. The Australian sharemarket is expected to slide after Wall Street suffered its worst day since May after US President Donald Trump imposed sweeping tariffs on US trading partners. Trump left trade penalties on Australian goods at the previously announced 10 per cent rate, and pushed back the start date to August 7, adding increasing uncertainty to the global trade picture.

As it happened: Norris wins Hungarian GP while Piastri settles for second in dramatic final lap
Go to latest Norris beats Piastri by 0.698 seconds to win Hungarian GP in a nail-bitingly close finale By Hannah Kennelly In the dying seconds of the penultimate lap of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri lunged his McLaren towards his teammate Lando Norris near Turn 1 to regain the lead of the race. The Australian locked up and Norris – who miraculously kept his tyres alive on a one-stop strategy for 39 laps – powered through to win the race and beat his teammate by 0.698 seconds. Piastri pitted twice and finished second, with Mercedes driver George Russell completing the podium and a frustrated Charles Leclerc in fourth. The McLaren 1-2 finish marks the team's 200th grand prix victory and also narrows the margin between championship leader Piastri and Norris to just nine points. As exhausted but elated Norris claimed his ninth win and declared he 'was dead' in a post-race interview. 'I'm dead. It was tough, it was tough,' Norris said. 'We weren't really planning on the one-stop but after the first lap it was kind of our only option to get back into things' he said. 'The final stint, with Oscar catching, I was pushing flat out.' A gracious Piastri congratulated his teammate and said McLaren had done a great job. 'I don't know if trying to undercut Leclerc was the right call in the end but we can go through that after,' Piastri said when asked about the team's differing tyre strategies. It was a rocky start to the race for Norris, who started third but dropped to fifth after trying to pass his teammate on the opening lap. Piastri spent the first half of the race in pursuit of race-leader Charles Leclerc, however was initially unable to catch him. McLaren chose to pit Piastri in lap 19 in an attempt to undercut Leclerc , however Ferrari executed a two-second stop and Leclerc emerged in front of Piastri. Norris pitted on lap 31 and chose to stay out – taking the lead of the race when the others pitted for a second time. Suddenly, Norris was a contender for the crown and Piastri – thanks to the team's tyre strategy – found himself chasing Leclerc and Norris. Notoriously nicknamed 'Monaco without walls', The Hungaroring has limited overtaking spots and tight turns demanding flawless perfection for every driver at every corner. The circuit's scare overtaking opportunities meant Piastri had to wait for the perfect moment to attack the Ferrari. A frustrated Charles Leclerc was unable to convert his pole position into a podium and issued an ominous and ultimately prophetic plea to his team during the race, telling his race engineer 'we are going to lose this race'. Piastri finally managed to get within DRS range down the main straight and swooped past Leclerc. With less than 20 laps to go, the Australian began hunting his teammate for the lead, while McLaren reminded the pair to race cleanly. Piastri tried numerous times to overtake Norris, but his rival held firm and fast and managed to evade the Australian's lunges and deep-dive near turn 1. After the Belgian Grand Prix last week, Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle declared 'This race confirms, it's Piastri versus Norris for the world championship'. It's clear both Norris and Piastri know that too. During Lap 41 of the Hungarian Grand Prix race, Piastri's race engineer asked if he would prefer to try and undercut Leclerc or defend against Norris and therefore have a better tyre advantage. The Australian instantly chose Norris. An McLaren battle for the driver's championship is inevitable. But the mid-season break is now upon so, so we will need to wait and see. The next race will be the Dutch Grand Prix on August 31.
