A quiet hint just made the AirPods Pro 3 feel very real
A couple of weeks ago, a hint found in iOS 26 code referenced the AirPods Pro 3. Now, another little hint found about them has surfaced, in a database.
Apparently, the folks at MacRumors have discovered a new Bluetooth ID in an Apple database related to device syncing. It's possible this Bluetooth ID is referencing the AirPods Pro 3. The earbuds are expected to potentially be unveiled in the fall or towards the end of this year. Apple is quite good with keeping things under wraps and preventing leaks. However, even the Cupertino tech giant can make a mistake, one referencing the AirPods Pro 3 directly in the beta code of iOS 26, and another stating "AirPods Pro 2 or later" (from a software update text). Now, this Bluetooth ID has appeared in an undisclosed codebase. Reportedly, the codebase was updated and would normally contain a list of Bluetooth IDs for accessories like AirPods and headphones by Beats. Well, there's now this one extra value that was added with the latest update...And it doesn't correspond to a known product. The identifier, 8239, is currently not associated with any existing products, so it's likely that it is referencing the unannounced AirPods Pro 3 . The AirPods Pro 2 are 0x2024 (8228).

Well, if anything, this comes to corroborate that the AirPods Pro 3 's launch is imminent. It's possible the new premium earbuds to launch in late 2025, but some sources claim 2026, which seems less likely at this point. The AirPods Pro 2 are very capable and offer premium sound and convenience without many tradeoffs, as we found in our review. Android might be getting this iPhone feature you didn't know you needed when you make calls
Google may be working on a new feature for Android that looks a lot like Apple's Contact Posters in iOS 17. A recent APK teardown of the Google Contacts app reveals code suggesting an upcoming feature called 'calling cards.' While still under development, these calling cards appear to be designed for customizing how you appear when calling someone. The clues were first shared by Android Authority. In version 4.55 of the Google Contacts app, new strings were found that mention using an image as both a contact photo and a calling card. This doesn't give away much, but it hints at a feature that links a profile image to a more personalized call screen. More interestingly, other parts of the code point to support for full-screen images and custom fonts. These features are similar to Apple's Contact Posters, which allow iPhone users to personalize how their name and photo appear on someone else's screen during a call. Many users already have profile photos linked to their Google accounts, so extending that image into calls could be a simple way to bring some personality to a screen that has mostly remained unchanged. Still, it's important to keep expectations in check. APK teardowns can reveal features in progress, but they don't confirm if or when these features will be released. A report out of Korea says that mass production of the tablet's OLED panels by Samsung and LG has started. The device could end up being unveiled in October or November and released in time for the 2025 holiday shopping season. Last year, Samsung supplied Apple with the OLED displays for the 11-inch M4 iPad Pro while fellow South Korean company LG produced the 13-inch OLED panel for the 2024 iPad Pro. This year, reports suggest that both LG and Samsung will each deliver 11-inch and 13-inch displays used on the iPad Pro (2025) models. Last year's iPad Pro (2024) tablets were the first from Apple to replace the LCD panels with OLED. OLED displays offer users a screen with better contrast, darker blacks, and wider viewing angles. Because OLED pixels generate their own light, no backlight is needed for OLED displays. Thus, such screens are thinner and are more flexible than LCD displays. Devices using an OLED panel can save battery life by going into Dark mode. That's because creating the color black on OLED is a matter of turning off a pixel and pixels that are turned off do not need to draw power from the battery. Apple is expected to convert the display on the iPad mini to OLED next year and do the same with the iPad Air in 2027.
