‘Black magic' horror in Bengaluru: Woman slits pet dog's throat, hides body at home
A woman hailing from West Bengal has allegedly killed one of her pet Labradors as a "sacrifice" by strangling him and kept its decomposing body in her Bengaluru apartment for several days, in what is believed to be a case of occult or ritualistic practices. The accused, Triparna Paik, slit the throat of one of her three Labrador dogs and then wrapped the body in cloth inside her apartment in Mahadevapura, NDTV reported.
The foul smell from the decomposed canine brought the scene to the attention of neighbours, who then alerted the Bengaluru civic body (BBMP).
When officials arrived at the scene, Paik resisted their entry and even threatened to commit suicide, prompting them to call the police.
Inside the apartment, authorities found the decomposed remains of one dog and two others suffering from severe neglect.
Triparna, who earlier had four Labradors, had reportedly lost one of them four months ago. The apartment was decorated with pictures of deities and puja items, leading authorities to believe that a "tantric" or black magic ritual may have been performed, NDTV reported.
The post-mortem report revealed that the dog had died around four days earlier. Officials said the flat's sealed condition and lack of ventilation led to a strong, unbearable stench, raising health concerns among neighbouring residents.
A case has been filed under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has stated that the surviving dogs are currently being assessed for rescue and rehabilitation.

Gold ornaments worth Rs 12.8L stolen in house break-in
Udupi: In a house break-in reported in Shirva police station limits, miscreants allegedly broke into a house and decamped with gold ornaments worth an approximate Rs 12.8 lakh. In her complaint, Pavithra, 29, a resident of Shirva village, said on Friday night around 9.45pm, she secured the main door and went to sleep in her room. The following morning, around 6.20am, she woke up to find the wooden cupboard in her bedroom open. Upon checking another room, she discovered that the iron cupboard there was also opened and its contents rummaged through and scattered. In the kitchen, she noticed that the window latch was broken, and the kitchen door was also left open. She suspects that after unlocking the kitchen door, the miscreants accessed the rest of the house. The stolen items, which were kept in the drawer of the wooden cupboard, include various gold ornaments with an estimated total value of Rs 12.8 lakh. A case was registered under sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Shefali Jariwala Death: "Anti-Ageing Medicines Could Be A Major Reason For Cardiac Arrest," Says Source
New Delhi: Actor and model Shefali Jariwala died late Friday, and her last rites were performed in Mumbai on Saturday evening, with close family members and friends in attendance. Several key details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the sudden death of actress Shefali Jariwala. According to sources, police have gathered important information based on witness statements, seized evidence and preliminary forensic inputs. "Shefali was regularly consuming anti-ageing medicines for the last seven-eight years. There was a puja at home on June 27, due to which Shefali was fasting. Despite this, she took an injection of anti-ageing medicine in the afternoon of the same day. These medicines were advised to her by a doctor years ago, and since then she has been taking this treatment every month. So far in the police investigation, it has come to light that these medicines could be a major reason for cardiac arrest," the source told NDTV. The timeline of events suggests that Shefali's health deteriorated between 10 and 11 PM on June 27. The source added, "Between 10 and 11 pm, Shefali's health suddenly deteriorated. The body started trembling and she fell unconscious. She was immediately taken to the hospital. At that time, Shefali, her husband Parag, mother and some other people were present at home." The forensic team has collected various items from the residence as part of the probe. They continued, "The forensic team has seized a variety of medicines from the house, including anti-ageing vials, vitamin supplements and gastric pills." As part of the ongoing investigation, statements from multiple people have been recorded. "So far, the police have recorded the statements of 8 people in this case, including family members, domestic servants and doctors from Bellevue Hospital. The investigation has not found any signs of dispute or quarrel so far. The police and forensic team will now take further action based on the postmortem report and lab tests of the medicines," the source concluded. The official cause of death is still awaited, and further action will depend on the postmortem findings and chemical analysis of the seized substances. Shefali Jariwala reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her Mumbai residence late Friday. Parag Tyagi rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Visuals from outside the hospital showed Parag in tears. The family has not released an official statement yet. Shefali first rose to fame with the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga, which became a massive hit. She later appeared in the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, alongside Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. In later years, she transitioned to television, participating in the dance reality show Nach Baliye with her husband Parag Tyagi, and later entering the Bigg Boss 13 house.

Defamatory, false reporting by 2 news channels during ‘Op Sindoor': Poonch court directs police to register FIR
A local court of sub judge/special mobile magistrate in Poonch headed by judge Shafeeq Ahmed has directed the SHO of police station, Poonch to register a formal FIR under Sections 353(2), 356 and 196(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) with Section 66 of the Information Technology Act against two national news channels for their defamatory and false reporting during Operation Sindoor. The court also directed that a copy of this order be sent to the senior superintendent of police, Poonch for supervisory compliance. Saleem contended that on May 7 one Qari Mohd Iqbal a cleric and a social activist at Jamia Zia-ul-Uloom, Poonch and resident of Qazi Mohra, Poonch, were killed along with other civilians during intense cross-border shelling by Pakistan in the Poonch sector. However, the two news channels without verification branded the deceased cleric as a 'Pakistani terrorist' affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba thereby defaming the deceased causing distress to his family and also damaged the reputation of the deceased as well as hurt the religious sentiments of the community. On receipt of the application, the sub-judge/special mobile magistrate, Poonch sought a report from the SHO P/S Poonch and in his report, the SHO confirmed that on 07-05-2025, due to shelling from across the border, there was considerable loss to the property and lives including the death of the deceased Qari Mohd Iqbal. It was also acknowledged in the police report that the two news channels had initially aired information stating that the deceased Qari Mohd Iqbal was a 'Pakistani terrorist'. However, the SHO noted that after receiving clarification inputs, the two channels withdrew their earlier assertions and issued an apology. The SHO further stated that no complaint was received from the family of the deceased teacher, hence no FIR was registered in that specific context. It was also noted in the said report that a general FIR No. 75/2025 had already been registered regarding the shelling incidents under Sections 103, 109, 324(5), 3(5) BNS and 7/25 Arms Act.
