Police open investigation after two boys found unsupervised by roadside in Bangi
Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said they received word of the incident at about 11.57am when concerned passersby brought the brothers to a police station.
'Preliminary investigations found that the brothers were in good condition and had come out of their nanny's house while their nanny was sleeping and were discovered by passersby not far from the housing area,' he said in a statement today.
The parents of the children were contacted and showed up at the Bangi police station at about 2 pm and the brothers were handed over to them safely.
The police have called up five individuals, including the nanny, to record their statements to facilitate investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect of children, he said.
He also advised the public, especially parents and guardians, to be more vigilant of their children's safety and not to be negligent in their care. — Bernama

Negeri Sembilan police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Yussof said the body was found following the arrest of the boy's 36-year-old father. He said the arrest led to the discovery of the buried body, with investigators suspecting he was murdered. 'Jempol police received information regarding the discovery of the body in Rompin at about 4.30pm today,' he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro. 'The case was initially classified under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 as a missing person's case. It is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.' The body was sent to Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem. Earlier, Iskandar Puteri police chief M Kumarasan said they received a report on the child's disappearance from the boy's father at 2.15am on July 24.

2 Turkish nationals missing after yacht capsizes off Terengganu

(Facebook pic) KUALA TERENGGANU : Two Turkish nationals are missing after a sailing yacht capsized in stormy waters near Pulau Yu on Tuesday, while another was rescued after drifting at sea for 25 hours. Terengganu maritime director Hamiludin Che Awang said the yacht, Daisy, had departed Pulau Tioman, Pahang, bound for Pattani, Thailand, when it overturned about 30 nautical miles from Pulau Yu. 'One victim, Ates Demiroren, was rescued by a local tugboat crew, while the yacht's captain and another man remain unaccounted for,' he said in a statement tonight. A search and rescue operation was activated at 3pm today, with patrol vessel Perkasa 48 deployed to the site. Those with information are urged to contact the Terengganu maritime operations centre at 013-7464357. Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Noor said the men aboard the yacht were on a cross-continent voyage from Malaysia to Turkey. He also identified the yacht captain as Ahmed Volkan Ata and the missing crew member as Eser Demirkol. He said before the incident, Ahmed brought the Daisy from Port Jackson Bay, Sydney, Australia and docked in Kuantan Port, Pahang, where he met up with the other two crew members, from Krabi, Thailand, and Singapore. 'On July 28, at 5pm, the Daisy started its voyage for the first checkpoint at Pattani Port, Thailand,' he said in a statement. He also said Ates is reported to be in a weak condition and is being treated at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.

New Zealand police arrest woman after bus driver discovers two-year-old girl hidden in suitcase
WELLINGTON, Aug 3 — A New Zealand woman was arrested today after travelling on a bus with a two-year-old girl trapped in her luggage. Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said the woman had been charged with ill-treatment and neglect of a child. Police were called to a bus depot in Kaiwaka — 100 kilometres north of Auckland — after the bus driver became concerned about a bag moving during a scheduled stop. 'When the driver opened the suitcase, they discovered the two-year-old girl,' Harrison said. 'The little girl was reported to be very hot, but otherwise appeared physically unharmed.' The luggage had been stored beneath the bus passengers, in a separate compartment. Harrison said the girl is in hospital undergoing an extensive medical assessment. A 27-year-old woman was arrested. Harrison said the driver prevented 'what could have been a far worse outcome'. He said further charges are possible. New Zealand's Ministry for Children, Oranga Tamariki, had been notified. — AFP
