South Korean tourist blames airbag for eight-vehicle pileup in Pattaya, Thailand
The tourist, Jun Sung, 25, was unhurt after his white Toyota Alphard collided with eight other vehicles on Jom Tien 2 Road in Pattaya City, Tambon Nong Prue, Chonburi's Bang Lamung district, at around 11:36pm.
The van also struck and knocked down a tree and a road sign on the traffic island.
Most of the vehicles involved were damaged or hit on their sides while parked on the roadside, except for one, which was struck at the rear while driving. The impact caused the parked vehicles to be scattered across both sides of the road.

Pratya (surname withheld), 33, told police that he was driving when the Alphard hit his car's rear before colliding with other vehicles.
Jun Sung told police via an interpreter that after his van hit the rear of Pratya's car, the airbag deployed and struck his face, causing him to lose control of the van, which then hit other vehicles, a tree, and a road sign.

Pol Capt Chainaret Pengkaen, deputy inspector at Pattaya police station, said the tourist appeared to have been driving at high speed and lost control at a curve before hitting the rear of Pratya's car, causing a chain reaction accident.
Chainaret added that the tourist was taken into custody for a blood alcohol test, and police would assist in mediating damage compensation for the parties involved in the accident. - The Nation/ANN

A restaurant that used ants to add 'unique flavour' is facing possible charges of violating the Food Sanitation Act, as ants are not a type of insect deemed edible by South Korean law. The restaurant purportedly added three to five ants per plate for specific dishes sold there up to January 2025. An estimated 12,000 dishes were sold. Recipes using ants, while not common, are not unheard of. But the Food Sanitation Act does not permit restaurants to use materials that are not recognised by law as food ingredients. As of 2025, Korean law only permits 10 types of insects to be used as food ingredients, including grasshoppers, mealworms and silkworm pupae that is commonly sold as the street snack beondaegi. The life-threatening stunt took place near Talupali village, close to Purunapani station in Boudh district, on June 29. In a video of the incident available on local news platforms, the boy, who is said to be 12 years old, is seen lying between the rails as a train speeds past him. A second boy, aged 15, reportedly filmed the stunt while a third friend stood by. As soon as the train passes and he emerges unharmed, the group is heard cheering and clapping. He is then seen posing for photographs. The boy told the police that his friends came up with the idea and that he was hoping the clip would go viral, according to Indian news broadcaster NDTV. 'When the train passed by, my heart was racing. I did not expect to survive,' the boy was quoted as saying in the NDTV report. The footage, which was uploaded to social media, had sparked concerns about the lengths young people would go to for viral content on social media. The clip has since been removed from its original source, but several local news platforms have reproduced it. Local police have detained the three boys, who were not named, and are questioning them, NDTV reported. The Railway Protection Force has also registered a case against two of the three boys. 'This is an extremely dangerous act that could have resulted in fatality,' said its spokesman, according to news platform The Times of India on July 7. Pet shop staff left traumatised by goldfish-eating stunt
