Cowboys coach chooses archaic punishment for training camp fights

Yahooa day ago
New Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer might have gone a little too "old school" this week during training camp to punish the team for getting into fights.
Scuffles are a regular feature to training camp activities, as the summer heat mixes in with the heat of competition and gets guys brawling a bit out of pride and frustration. Unless things really get out of hand, they're not a big deal, and sometimes can indicate the passion in the building is trending toward success.
Well, Schottenheimer didn't see it that way on Wednesday, as he made his whole team and even some of the coaches run as a punishment for a few dust-ups. Team reporter Tommy Yarrish filmed video of the running.
Look, discipline is always important for a good football team, but running for training camp fights feels like a bit much, doesn't it?
These aren't high school athletes; they are grown men who are out there competing their butts off in the sweltering California heat, some of them for their football livelihoods. Passions will flare up. As long as the fight doesn't spill over into something worse and nobody gets hurt, a bit of conflict shouldn't be punished with team-wide running.
Schottenheimer has been a football coach for a long time, so we'll let him make his calls for what he feels is right for his Cowboys team. However, this method of discipline for typical training camp tension might not go over well.

Why did Micah Parsons demand a trade?

WHEW. It's been a Friday in the NFL, my friends. Things were already tense when it came to stud pass-rusher Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys, thanks to the do-it-all EDGE's demand for a new contract with 2026 free agency looming. But then? It exploded. MORE ON MICAH PARSONS: There was an initial report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini about how the "relationship has deteriorated to the point where the star pass rusher is considering drastic measures which could include a trade request or even a declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team." Then? It happened. He demanded a trade in a lengthy letter posted on X (formerly Twitter). So: What the heck happened here? Let's discuss: Micah Parsons' contract situation He's set to make over $24 million this year, but given the long list of his accomplishments, Parsons wants a new contract that will pay him what he deserves before he hits free agency. It's that simple. Jerry Jones' comments probably didn't help He took a random shot at Parsons before camp started. Micah Parsons still wanted to be with the Cowboys ... That is, until now. Will Jerry Jones and the Cowboys give in and trade Micah Parsons? Or will they give into his contract demands? Pure speculation here: Feels like this is one of those cases where Parsons has made his move, and maybe Jones realizes he could no longer play around and could offer a sizeable new deal. But if Parsons is truly done with the Cowboys? Let the phone calls to the front office begin! This article originally appeared on For The Win: Why Micah Parsons requested a trade?

Manchester United Are Facing Tough Competition For This Paris Saint-Germain Keeper: Is He Worth The Fight?

In a recent report, Corriere dello Sport claimed that Manchester United are facing tough competition for Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer. It has been stated that the Red Devils would have to rival Manchester City, Chelsea and Galatasaray in the race to land the Italian goalie in this transfer window. Donnarumma's Impressive Form In French Football The talented keeper enjoyed a decent run of form at the French club in the previous campaign as he helped them win the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this summer. Donnarumma shipped in 43 goals and secured 17 clean sheets in 47 matches for PSG last season across multiple competitions. He even distributed possession relatively well after he completed 87.3% of his attempted passes in Ligue 1 (stats via His current contract at the French club will expire next summer which could give Man United a chance to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window. (Photo by) Manchester United Are Facing Tough Competition For Donnarumma: Is He Worth The Fight? Donnarumma is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few important saves at the back for his team. He usually puts his foot through the ball when being chased down by the opposition attackers. The Italian sensation can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks and is also a tidy passer of the ball from the back. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Mancunian club manage to bring him on board this summer. Donnarumma would no doubt enhance the quality of Man United head coach Ruben Amorim's backline. He would be an upgrade over Andre Onana, who has struggled to be consistent during his time at Old Trafford. At 26, Donnarumma has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to pursue this off-season. He would be well worth the fight, so Amorim should focus on stepping up his efforts to acquire the services of the Italy international in this transfer period.
