Ohio doctor arrested for 'running Jewish congressman off road' while chanting 'Death to Israel
An Ohio doctor was arrested after a congressman claimed he forced him off the road while chanting 'death to Israel.'
Feras Hamdan, 36, of Avon, turned himself in to cops following the alleged incident on Thursday morning while Republican Max Miller was driving on I-90.
According to police, Miller had called 911 and said that as he was driving to work a man hit his horn and ran him off the road while waving the flag of Palestine.
Miller, who is Jewish, also claims that the man shouted 'death to Israel' and threatened to kill him and his family. Hamdan is a doctor with a private practice.
Hamdan appeared in court on Friday were he pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated menacing and ethnic intimidation.
According to Cleveland19 he received a $500,000 cash-assured bond during the arraignment inside Rocky River Municipal Court.
The outlet reported that Hamdan was also ordered to surrender his passport and to avoid contacting Miller and his family. He is expected back in court next month.
Miller said in a post to his X account on Thursday that he was run off the road by what he described as an 'unhinged, deranged man' in another vehicle.
The lawmaker said he is a 'staunch defender of Israel' in his post, and that the driver had been waving a Palestinian flag at him.
He added: 'Not to mention, death to Israel, death to me, that he wanted to kill me and my family.
'I will continue to fight against anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and all other forms of hate.
'You have an issue, take it to my office. You want to run me off the road, that's a different story.'
In the 911 call, obtained by CNN, Miller said: 'I'm on the freeway. I have somebody who has cut me off, who is flipping me off, who is showing me a Palestinian flag and is yelling to kill me.
'I'm a little shaken at the moment because I got death threats', he continued as he read out the license plate of the vehicle.
After his call was transferred to another police department, he added: 'I was just driving to work and I was cut off by a man in a Tesla who held up a Palestinian flag to me and then rolled down his window and said that "I'm going to cut your throat and your daughter's."
'And he said "you're a dirty Jew. I'm going to f**king kill you all, and I know who you are and where you live."'
'I have a weapon on me. I'm glad I didn't use it. But, I mean, what is going to happen? This guy just said he is going to kill me.
'And said he is going to kill my daughter who is almost two years old. And he cut me off and clearly was trying to hurt me.'
House Speaker Mike Johnson condemned the incident, writing on X: 'What happened to Max this morning is yet another outrageous example of unhinged rhetoric inspiring unstable people to threaten and attack elected officials who are serving their communities. We must turn down the temperature in this country.'
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar said in a joint statement: 'We condemn in the strongest possible terms the attack on Congressman Max Miller and his family and are thankful they are safe.
'The rise in political violence in this country is unacceptable. This is a moment of crisis that requires Congress to act decisively in order to ensure the safety of every single Member who serves in the People's House.'
It comes after heightened concerns for lawmakers and public officials after Rep. Melissa Hortman was murdered last week alongside her husband Mark.
Authorities say Trump supporter Vance Boelter, 57, is responsible for the killings, he was arrested late on Sunday night following an extensive manhunt.

BBC axes ‘anti-Semitic' broadcaster
A journalist employed by the BBC has been accused of calling for Israel 'to be dismantled' and appearing to suggest that Jewish people 'are not meant to have a land'. Osman Ahmed has also been accused of mocking the Israeli victims of Iranian missile strikes by posting videos poking fun at people fleeing towards air raid shelters. The freelance reporter, who has previously worked for ITN and CNN as well as the BBC, has posted numerous items on social media commenting on the Gaza conflict since Oct 7 2023, when more than 1,200 Israelis were murdered by Hamas gunmen. He has made posts about the Iranian-Israeli war and has reposted several items on social media that have been described as virulently anti-Semitic. Following complaints to the BBC, the broadcaster said it would no longer employ Mr Hamed. 'Jewish people are actually not meant to have a land' One post shared on the London-based reporter's Instagram accounts showed a group of orthodox Jews from a fringe sect attempting to set fire to the flag of Israel with the comment: 'Yes, that's correct. Jewish people who truly understand their religion recognise that Israel is a terrorist state and Jewish people are actually not meant to have a land'. Another video posted on Mr Ahmed's Instagram with a sweating emoji showed airline passengers fleeing towards a shelter during a recent Iranian missile strike, with the caption: 'Chaos at Ben Gurion Airport as Israelis scramble to flee 'the promised land'.' Mr Ahmed, who recently worked as a producer on the World Service's Newsday and the BBC's breakfast radio show for listeners in Africa and Asia, has previously also worked for BBC Arabic, the corporation's Arabic language service. BBC Arabic has been repeatedly criticised for bias against Israel, amid claims that its contributors and presenters have displayed open anti-Semitism and have celebrated Oct 7 as 'armed resistance by the Palestinian people'. Another social media post on Mr Ahmed's account appeared to suggest Jews were to blame for the destruction of Gaza, juxtaposing a photograph of Jewish refugees arriving in Palestine ahead of the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 with the devastated ruins of Gaza following months of Israeli bombardment. Mr Ahmed responded to the announcement that Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, had decided to ban Palestine Action by sharing a comment stating, 'to learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticise'. 'Hateful tweets' The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (Camera) said: 'In Ahmed's case, his hateful X tweets and Instagram stories – some posted right next to ones where he mentioned his BBC affiliation – were publicly available online in English for months. 'The national broadcaster's failure to act sooner raises serious questions about whether this was due to complicity or sheer incompetence.' The Israeli embassy in the UK had previously complained about what it described as Mr Ahmed's anti-Semitic social media posts when he was a contributor to BBC Arabic. Orly Goldschmidt, spokeswoman for the embassy, said: 'The BBC previously apologised to us for this journalist's actions while he was working with BBC Arabic. Osman [Ahmed] has continued to promote anti-Semitism as a representative of the BBC since.' A spokesman for the Board of Deputies of British Jews said: 'We are well aware of the problems at the BBC. While the corporation has made some progress in a number of areas, the pace of change has been, at times, painfully slow. The issue of anti-Semitism needs to be a top priority.' The BBC announced in May that it was launching an independent review of its Middle East coverage, its Arabic service and its broader handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict. In March, Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative Party leader, called for 'wholesale reform' of BBC Arabic, after a report by Camera accused it of 'appalling anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias '. Ohio town faces bankruptcy after exonerated resident is 'sick of waiting' for $45million payout
An Ohio township is facing bankruptcy after a man who spent 20 years in prison for crimes he didn't commit won a staggering $45million judgment but is still waiting on his payout. Dean Gillispie, 60, of Fairborn, wants the massive check from Miami Township and its police department after he was jailed for over 20 years for rapes and kidnappings he never committed. But the township says paying up could force them into bankruptcy, leaving 31,000 residents to bear the cost of a detective's misconduct. 'I want it all tomorrow,' Gillispie told the Akron Beacon Journal. 'I'm tired of waiting.' Gillispie won the crushing judgment in 2022 in a federal lawsuit against Miami Township and its former detective, Matthew Scott Moore, after a jury found the cop violated his rights by hiding evidence and rigging witness lineups. When Daily Mail tried to reach Gillispie, his mother Juana said that the case that consumed two decades of her son's life has been 'hell' for him. 'There's no justice,' she told Daily Mail. 'They've hid evidence.' She says her son deserves every cent after the ordeal he endured. Since then, the township has been racking up interest on the unpaid settlement while desperately fighting the massive bill in court. The township says paying up could force them into bankruptcy, leaving 31,000 residents to bear the cost of a detective's misconduct But the township's appeals have failed. In May 2025, a three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Gillispie and refused to lower the massive amount. Now the township is making a last-ditch plea for the full Sixth Circuit Court to weigh in on the case that could destroy their financial future. Gillispie was convicted of raping and kidnapping twin sisters in one brutal attack and a third woman in a separate assault in 1991. But the federal jury soon discovered the shocking truth. Detective Moore had systematically destroyed Gillispie's defense by hiding crucial evidence and manipulating witness identification procedures. On top of that, no biological evidence ever tied Gillispie to the horrific crimes that sent him away for the prime years of his life. The situation has left Miami Township, located in Montgomery County near Dayton, stuck. The township says it simply cannot afford the $45million judgment and its insurer conveniently went out of business before the claim arose, leaving taxpayers potentially on the hook. On the other hand, declaring bankruptcy, has never been attempted by an Ohio township and would require approval from the state tax commissioner. The prospect of financial ruin hangs over the 31,000 residents who had nothing to do with the detective's misconduct but may end up paying the price through reduced services or higher taxes. He was finally released from prison in 2011 after 20 years behind bars, exonerated in 2017, and officially declared wrongfully imprisoned in 2021. The Ohio Innocence Project at the University of Cincinnati law school, former Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro, and his devoted mother fought tirelessly to free him and clear his name.

As the BBC airs punk band's shocking chants, STEVE POLLARD asks: Has baiting Jews become the new national pastime?
The Glastonbury music festival bills itself as a celebration of all that is good in the world, with great artists communing with a crowd of 200,000 self-styled progressives, for whom the festival is a chance to wallow in their own goodness and smug sense of superiority. But nothing better illustrates the darkness that has entered the soul of today's progressives than the crowd's response yesterday to punk duo Bob Vylan, whose screams of 'Free, free Palestine ' and 'Death, death to the IDF' were chanted back with such fervour that the scene was like a 2025 version of Hitler's Nuremberg Rallies. The chant was 'Death, death to the IDF', but what they meant – because the IDF is the army of the world's only Jewish state – was 'Death, death to the Jews'. Imagine being a Jew at Glastonbury, knowing that you are hated by almost everyone around you. In Sasha Baron Cohen's satirical film, Borat, the character describes a game, 'Hunt the Jew'. Everyone laughed at that when the film came out in 2006. But yesterday's Glastonbury chanting showed that its satire is all too pointed. Imagine, I ask you, being a Jew in Britain. In the 20 months since 1,200 Jews were massacred by Hamas in Israel, the UK has seen a leap in anti-Semitic incidents. Between January and June last year there was a 41 per cent increase in assaults on Jews. But that is almost the least of it. The biggest impact in Britain of the October 7 attack has been the unleashing of this torrent of Jew-hate – the likes of which we saw yesterday. Every other week there are hate marches in London and elsewhere with chants to ' globalise the intifada' – to kill Jews, in other words. There is open support for Hamas and Hezbollah, not least by Kneecap, another band performing at Glastonbury. There is pure hatred and poison. But for Jews in Britain, the real point about all this is the double standard. Can you imagine if someone had stood on that stage and screamed 'Death to Muslims'? There would certainly – and quite rightly – have been anger from the crowd. But when it is Jews who are the target, they cheer. And where are the police? Whatever your views of Lucy Connolly's imprisonment after her Southport riot tweets, the double standard is shocking. The lead singer of Bob Vylan incited a mob. Will he be arrested, charged and prosecuted? There is, I suggest, not the slightest chance if the past 20 months of open anti-Semitism is anything to go by. For those who make a regular pilgrimage to Glastonbury, it is more than just a music festival – is a carnival of light and peace. Not for Jews. Palestinian flags fly everywhere. Leaders of Palestine Action – shortly and rightly to be proscribed as a terrorist organisation – are given a platform to spread their bile. The now infamous Kneecap rapper J J O Dochartaigh wore a 'We are all Palestine Action' T-shirt on stage and led a Free Palestine chant. Glastonbury, in reality, reflects the state of modern progressivism – a poisonous cocktail of anti-Israeli prejudice, support for Islamist terror and a moral calculus so warped that Nazi-style chanting is seen as upstanding and worthy.
