Semi carrying whiskey tips over on I-90
A semi-truck carrying whiskey tipped over on Interstate 90 Friday morning. Washington State Patrol says speed was a factor. It happened in the eastbound lanes near milepost 45. No one was hurt. One lane is currently open to get around the crash, but drivers should expect delays for the time being. State patrol posted a picture showing the crates of whiskey strapped in, saying, 'Hoping it survives when the trailer is rolled back over.' No word when all lanes will be back open.

Vantage Bridge I-90 lane closures return 24/7 after July 4: What drivers need to know
This story was originally published on You've got two more weekends of smooth traveling on eastbound I-90 across the Vantage Bridge, but after the 4th of July, the 24/7 lane restrictions return. This is the second year of work on the 60-year-old Vantage Bridge over the Columbia River. For the last few months, WSDOT has closed a lane in each direction on Mondays through Thursdays, but reopened the lanes for weekend travel. That will be changing soon. 'After the 4th of July, we're going to close it down 24/7 for those single lane closures in each direction,' Summer Derrey, communications specialist for the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT), said. 'Labor Day weekend will be the final weekend when all the lanes will be open, and then the lane restrictions will remain until work is stopped by the weather sometime in November.' Drivers need to be prepared for the return of long delays through the area, especially on Friday and Sunday afternoons. 'This is a recreational route,' Derrey said. 'If you're traveling across the state between the Fourth of July and Labor Day, you will definitely need to plan for additional travel time across the Vantage Bridge.' The best idea is to avoid the area. 'If you're farther to the north, go up toward the North Cascades and go around that way,' Derrey said. 'If you're closer to the Yakima area, loop back down to Moxie or through the Tri-Cities, and scoop back up. There are a lot of ways to avoid significant backups, just getting across that pinch point, across the Vantage bridge, depending on where you need to go.' One place you shouldn't go is the Old Vantage Highway. Your GPS will want to send you that way. That highway is tiny. It's a windy, two-lane road with no lighting. It's an elk migration path that also attracts a variety of other animals. And during the biggest backups last year, it did not move for the final two miles as you tried to merge back onto the freeway. I tried it at about 6:45 a.m. one morning, and it was fine. Try it at 11 a.m., and you're asking for trouble. Be sure to check the Gorge concert schedule before you head across the bridge. Concert weekends during similar closures last year were brutal. And we have three more years of this. Chris Sullivan is a traffic reporter for KIRO Newsradio. Read more of his stories here. Follow KIRO Newsradio traffic on X.

Ohio doctor arrested for 'running Jewish congressman off road' while chanting 'Death to Israel
An Ohio doctor was arrested after a congressman claimed he forced him off the road while chanting 'death to Israel.' Feras Hamdan, 36, of Avon, turned himself in to cops following the alleged incident on Thursday morning while Republican Max Miller was driving on I-90. According to police, Miller had called 911 and said that as he was driving to work a man hit his horn and ran him off the road while waving the flag of Palestine. Miller, who is Jewish, also claims that the man shouted 'death to Israel' and threatened to kill him and his family. Hamdan is a doctor with a private practice. Hamdan appeared in court on Friday were he pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated menacing and ethnic intimidation. According to Cleveland19 he received a $500,000 cash-assured bond during the arraignment inside Rocky River Municipal Court. The outlet reported that Hamdan was also ordered to surrender his passport and to avoid contacting Miller and his family. He is expected back in court next month. Miller said in a post to his X account on Thursday that he was run off the road by what he described as an 'unhinged, deranged man' in another vehicle. The lawmaker said he is a 'staunch defender of Israel' in his post, and that the driver had been waving a Palestinian flag at him. He added: 'Not to mention, death to Israel, death to me, that he wanted to kill me and my family. 'I will continue to fight against anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and all other forms of hate. 'You have an issue, take it to my office. You want to run me off the road, that's a different story.' In the 911 call, obtained by CNN, Miller said: 'I'm on the freeway. I have somebody who has cut me off, who is flipping me off, who is showing me a Palestinian flag and is yelling to kill me. 'I'm a little shaken at the moment because I got death threats', he continued as he read out the license plate of the vehicle. After his call was transferred to another police department, he added: 'I was just driving to work and I was cut off by a man in a Tesla who held up a Palestinian flag to me and then rolled down his window and said that "I'm going to cut your throat and your daughter's." 'And he said "you're a dirty Jew. I'm going to f**king kill you all, and I know who you are and where you live."' 'I have a weapon on me. I'm glad I didn't use it. But, I mean, what is going to happen? This guy just said he is going to kill me. 'And said he is going to kill my daughter who is almost two years old. And he cut me off and clearly was trying to hurt me.' House Speaker Mike Johnson condemned the incident, writing on X: 'What happened to Max this morning is yet another outrageous example of unhinged rhetoric inspiring unstable people to threaten and attack elected officials who are serving their communities. We must turn down the temperature in this country.' House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar said in a joint statement: 'We condemn in the strongest possible terms the attack on Congressman Max Miller and his family and are thankful they are safe. 'The rise in political violence in this country is unacceptable. This is a moment of crisis that requires Congress to act decisively in order to ensure the safety of every single Member who serves in the People's House.' It comes after heightened concerns for lawmakers and public officials after Rep. Melissa Hortman was murdered last week alongside her husband Mark. Authorities say Trump supporter Vance Boelter, 57, is responsible for the killings, he was arrested late on Sunday night following an extensive manhunt.

I-90 fatality determined suicide
Jun. 9—MOSES LAKE — The Washington State Patrol is still investigating a fatality that occurred Sunday afternoon at Exit 176 on Interstate 90 in Moses Lake. WSP has since determined that the death was a suicide, said Trooper Ryan Michael, a public information officer for the WSP's sixth district, which includes Moses Lake. "He did jump off the overpass and landed on I-90 before he was struck," said Michael. According to a press release issued by WSP, a Subaru Forrester was driving along the interstate when it struck the unidentified individual at milepost 176. Neither the driver nor the passenger, both from Everett, was injured in the accident, though there was damage reported to the vehicle. The incident had traffic backed up and rerouted around the scene for some time as investigators examined the scene and helped those in the Subaru have their car removed and leave the scene themselves. Authorities are investigating the identity of the deceased, and more information will be shared when it comes to light.
