Dolly Parton makes heartbreaking admission about her career after husband's death
Now, four months after her husband's death at age 82, the country singer is stepping back from making music.
'I can't do it right now,' Parton, 79, said on Thursday's episode of Khloé Kardashian's 'Khloé in Wonder Land' podcast, 'cause I got so many other things that I can't afford the luxury of getting emotional right now.'

'I'll write something else, though, if it comes. I'm just putting that all on hold,' she noted.
Parton also admitted that, right now, she is 'stalled.'
Despite taking a step back from recording, Parton is set to hit the Las Vegas stage later this year.

Last month, the country icon announced her six-show 'Dolly: Live In Las Vegas' residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Dec. 4-13.
'To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I haven't worked Vegas in years and I've always loved singing there,' Parton said in a statement, referencing her '90s performance at The Mirage. 'I'm looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there.'
After Dean's passing, the 'Steel Magnolias' actress released an emotional song titled 'If You Hadn't Been There.'

Parton used a throwback photo of herself and Dean as the album cover art, which she shared on Instagram.
In the picture, the young star wraps her arms around her husband's neck as she stands behind him.
'Carl and I fell in love when I was 18 and he was 23, and like all great love stories, they never end,' Parton captioned the post. 'They live in memory and in song, and I dedicate this to him.'

A little over a week after Dean died, Parton made her first public appearance at Dollywood's Celebrity Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
While visiting the theme park to help kick off the resort's 40th operating season, Parton addressed her late husband's death.
'Of course I will always love him, and I'll miss him, but I wanted you to know that I will always love you,' she stated, per local news.

Parton also sat down with Knox News for an interview about how she was coping without her longtime significant other.
'I'm doing better than I thought I would,' admitted the artist. 'I've been with him 60 years. So, I'm going to have to relearn some of the things that we've done. But I'll keep him always close.'
Parton added she's 'at peace that he's at peace,' but expressed that she is still 'missing' and 'loving him.'
'[Dean] suffered a great deal,' Parton acknowledged, explaining that it's 'a hole in my heart, you know, but we'll fill that up with good stuff and he'll still always be with me.'

The couple was married for 59 years, with Parton confirming his death on social media.
'Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years,' her Instagram message read. 'Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.'
Parton and Dean first met at Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville when she was just 18. They tied the knot on May 30, 1966. The pair never had any children.

'My first thought was 'I'm gonna marry that girl.' My second thought was, 'Lord she's good looking.' And that was the day my life began,' Dean told Entertainment Tonight in 2016. 'I wouldn't trade the last 50 years for nothing on this Earth.'
Over the years, the late businessman largely stayed out of the spotlight and let Parton take center stage.
In May, the '9 to 5' star revealed the secret to their successful union.
'It is important to have someone there in your corner and you know they'll love you for just who you are,' Parton said while on E! News at the time. 'There's a great comfort in knowing that someone loves you exactly for who you are—because he fell in love with me before I became a star.'
'To him, I'm his star,' sh›e gushed, adding that their dynamic has 'worked for us because we both do different things and it's exciting when we are together.'

O'Donnell moved to Ireland shortly before Trump was sworn in for his second term as president. Trump on Saturday morning called O'Donnell a "threat to humanity" and someone who "is not in the best interests of our great country" in a Truth Social post. The actress in March announced she moved out of the United States on Jan. 15 for political and personal reasons. "It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well," O'Donnell said, as reported by USA Today. "The personal is political, as we all know," she added. O'Donnell and Trump have clashed since before he first became president in 2017. The actress formerly was a co-host on "The View" from 2006 to 2007 and 2014 to 2015. She asked if Trump is "rattled again" in an Instagram post that included a photo of a much younger Trump with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in 2019 while jailed in New York City on pedophilia-related charges. "18 years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours," she said in the post. "You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try," O'Donnell said. Dolly Parton and Carl Dean were 'perfect' for each other
Dolly Parton and Carl Dean were "perfect" for each other. The 9 to 5 hitmaker lost her beloved husband of 58 years in March at the age of 82 and she's reflected on how they were "so good for each other" even though they were such "different people". Speaking to Khloe Kardashian on her Khloe in Wonder Land podcast, the 79-year-old country star said: "We were different people. He loved music, but he was a loner. "He did not want a bunch of people around him except me. Of course he had friends, but he was also the same way. He'd rather be at the barn, be on the farm all day, and if he was gonna go sell a loader or buy a loader or have somebody come work on one of his trucks or tractors, he'd have to let people in. "But I really think that there's just certain personalities that are great for each other. And we were together 61 years. "We were just so different, but we were so similar. We were perfect, as far as the temperature in the house. We didn't fight over that 'cause we both were comfortable at the same thing. Just so many things we were compatible about, and we just got along great." Dolly believes her and Carl's respective Zodiac signs made them compatible. She said: "I don't know if any of you follow the signs, the Zodiac signs. I'm Capricorn, and [he's a] Cancer, and those are supposed to be compatible. But he was a homebody." Despite her own fame, the Jolene singer noted her husband "never did an interview in his life" and never courted publicity. She said: "He'd be out mowing the yard on the tractor, and the fans would come by to see our house, and they'd say, 'Are you Dolly Parton's husband?' And he'd say, 'Do I look like I'd be Dolly Parton's husband?' He'd have on his old straw hat and his coat. "I didn't ever expose him to [fame] but he was very proud of me." Dolly and Carl never fought and were always happy in each other's company, no matter what they were doing. She said: "We got along great because we didn't have nothing to fight over. "I have to be out in the public and I belong to the public, but I'm such a private person. And my husband was as well. "That was the thing with us, we were so good for each other because he's a total loner. "But we could just be in the house all day and say two or three words — didn't matter. Or we could talk all afternoon and lay in bed, talk at night in the dark."
