Hyderabad: Eight arrested in drug bust
Hyderabad: .Commissioner's Task Force, West Zone Team, working in coordination with Masab Tank Police Station, has apprehended eight individuals involved in the possession of narcotic substances. Police seized hash oil valued at Rs 2.25 lakh, along with dry ganja, charas, and knives.
Police arrested peddlers Mohammed Faizan of Masab Tank and Yelagada Navya of Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Sub peddlers Kundurthi Veerachary, Sam Ajay Kumar, Vemula Harshith, and Mohammed Sameer were also apprehended. Additionally, consumers Sam Vijay Kumar and Syed Murthuza Ali Hussain were taken into custody.
According to police, four individuals – Murthuza, Faizan, Harshith, and Sameer – were initially apprehended near the Pension Office Bus Stop, Masab Tank. During the operation, a small box containing hash oil and charas was seized from Faizan. Furthermore, two daggers and 175 grams of dry ganja were found concealed in Faizan's motorbike. A small box of hash oil was also discovered on Sameer. Upon initial enquiry, Faizan revealed that the dry ganja and charas had been brought from Nagpur, and he had procured the hash oil from Harshith and Sameer for Rs 3,000.
During further questioning, Sameer disclosed that the hash oil had been purchased from Ajay and Veerachary. Based on this information, Ajay and Veerachary were apprehended at Gajularamaram, along with a consumer, Vijay, who is Ajay's brother. Later, police nabbed Navya, who was found with 71 small boxes of hash oil. Upon interrogation, she stated that the hash oil had been supplied by an individual from Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad City Police urged young individuals to steer clear of drugs and to avoid succumbing to the allure of easy money or addiction.
They warned that substance abuse leads to devastating consequences, including loss of employment, severe mental and physical health issues, and criminal records that can irrevocably damage one's future. The public is advised to immediately inform the police by dialling 100 if they encounter any drug peddling or suspicious activities.

Talati, middleman arrested for taking 3,000 bribe
Rajkot: A talati-cum-mantri serving in the Lakhtar village panchayat in Surendranagar, Dharmesh Pedhadiya, and his alleged middleman, Raju Vasoya, were arrested for allegedly taking a Rs 3,000 bribe after a trap was laid by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday. K H Gohil, in-charge deputy superintendent of police with the Rajkot unit of the ACB, said that the complainant in this case owns two plots at Vadod village in Wadhwan taluka. He approached the talati to get some documents pertaining to his plots. Pedhadiya allegedly told him that the documents could only be got if he paid Rs 3,000 to one Raju Vasoya. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. The bureau acted on his complaint and set a trap. During the operation, Raju Vasoya was caught red-handed accepting the bribe while discussing the matter with the complainant. Pedhiya and Raju Vasoya were then arrested for bribery. The ACB said the duo colluded to demand and accept the illegal payment.

Surat: The special operations group (SOG) in Surat busted a dabba stock trading (off-exchange stock speculation) and sports betting racket, worth Rs 950 crore, and arrested eight people. They allegedly developed websites and applications through which speculators and bettors made illegal trades and bets. The authorities have charged ten persons under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act 1956, and the SEBI Act 1992. SOG police inspector Atul Sonara received intelligence that a large-scale dabba share trading and betting racket was being run from the real estate firm's office in Utran. SOG detectives raided the office of Sunrise Developers at Meridian Business Centre and apprehended eight individuals who were running a dabba trading and sports betting racket using computers. The accused had developed web platforms named 'Castilo 9' and 'Stock Grow' for dabba trading and promoted them on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. These platforms enabled clients to carry out illegal trading and speculation on stocks and other securities. Additionally, the use of online betting platforms suc as PavanExch and English999 was discovered, where betting took place on cricket, football, tennis, and other sports. Police found transactions totalling Rs 950 crore across all these platforms. "The accused employed an in-house software developer to make customized platforms. Clients were identified across India, including in cities such as Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Surat. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The authorities seized 19 mobile phones, four laptops, Rs 10 lakh in cash, 31 passbooks, 87 cheque books and 13 sim cards, among other items," an official said. Police seized a paper shredder, used by the accused to get rid of sensitive documents. "Many transactions were conducted through angadias, resulting in numerous paper documents that were shredded after their use was over," the official added. Those arrested are Nandlal Gevariya, Vishal Gevariya, Jaydeep Pipaliya, Bhavin Hirpara, Navneet Gevariya, Sahil Suvagiya, Bhavesh Kihla and Bakul Tarsariya. Two other accused persons, Javed and Parimal Kapadiya, have been charged and listed as wanted.

Thieves damage 8 parked cars in Bhosari MIDC, steal valuables worth Rs 1.6 lakh
Car owners who had come to Spine Road in Bhosari for a Sunday marathon were left in shock after thieves damaged eight cars parked along the road and stole laptops, cellphones, and a gold chain collectively worth Rs 1.6 lakh from these vehicles. The marathon was organised in the area by a group in Pimpri Chinchwad. A 32-year-old runner from Lohegaon who lost his gold chain and a mobile handset in the theft lodged a complaint with the Bhosari MIDC police. Durgesh Bugade, a graphic designer from Sinhgad Road who lost his laptop, bank cards and clothes in the theft, told TOI that the LSoM (Last Sunday of the Month) run was organised in the Spine Road area. "All runners reached the venue around 5am and parked their cars near PCNDTA circle along Spine Road. The area where we parked our cars was not lonely. There were runners and morning walkers," Bugade said. After finishing the run, when Bugade reached his car, he noticed the front door's window broken. "I had kept my laptop in the car because I had to attend a seminar later. I also had a few clothes. The thieves stole everything," Bugade said, adding, "All my work was stored in the laptop. My clients have already started calling for work." One of the other runners, who lost his debit card, told police that while running, he received a message that some amount was debited from his bank account at a cash dispensing machine. "He received one more message about the decline of a transaction from another ATM kiosk while we were at the police station," Bugade said. An officer from the Bhosari MIDC police said they have started collecting CCTV footage from the spot. "We will collect CCTV footage from both the ATM kiosks," the officer said. A similar theft had occurred in Oct 2019 on BMCC Road in Pune, where 11 cars of runners were broken into, and cellphones, laptops, and other valuables collectively worth Rs 1.5 lakh were stolen. A case was registered with the Deccan Gymkhana police.
