Marcos: 'bloodless' war on drugs beginning to see some success
President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday underscored that his administration has been addressing the drug problem in a "peaceful manner," saying that its good results are becoming evident.
Marcos said the 'new concept' of solving drugs is working, noting that 'we are beginning to see the good effects of the new policy.'
'We must continue the war against drugs but… we do it in a peaceful way,' Marcos said after his inspection of recovered illegal drugs at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency headquarters.
'It has been described as a bloodless war on drugs and that is what we are aiming for. Nonetheless, despite the fact that we do not kill people that are just suspected of having anything to do with drugs, imbes na ganon ang ginagawa natin, we are handling the drug problem in a different way,' he added.
Marcos said the government has been hitting the drug trade at the highest level and at the lowest level.
'And we are beginning to see some measure of success,' Marcos stressed.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said that up for destruction through thermal decomposition are the 1,304.604 kilograms of shabu packs, with an estimated street price of P8,871,307,200.
These were recovered in the waters of Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Cagayan. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

Six OFWs from Iran arrive safely in PH
Six overseas Filipino workers (OFW) repatriated from Iran amid its conflict with Israel arrived safely in the Philippines on Saturday morning, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said. The OFWs — five who worked as shrimp hatchery technicians in Iran and one domestic worker from Dubai who accompanied her employer to Iran as a tourist — arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City. Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega, and DMW Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi welcomed the OFWs. The repatriated workers were also met by the MIA Medical Team as well as a social welfare officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The OFWs boarded an Emirates flight to Manila. "The repatriation was made possible through the efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, led by Ambassador Roberto Manalo, in close coordination with the DMW and OWWA," the DMW said. The repatriated OFWs were given financial assistance by the DMW, OWWA, and DSWD. The MIA Medical Team also provided them with food and medical services. The OWWA will give the OFWs temporary hotel accommodations and domestic flights back to their home provinces. The DMW said two more OFWs from Iran are expected to arrive on Saturday night. "This group marks the first batch of Filipinos repatriated from Iran following the June 13 Israel-Iran conflict," the DMW said. President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Monday tasked government offices to take the necessary steps to ensure the safe and orderly return of Filipino workers who wish to avail themselves of voluntary repatriation. In a statement, Marcos said the government is already processing over 200 requests for repatriation and ''we are moving quickly to bring them home while others have opted to remain at work.'' ''I urge our fellow Filipinos to coordinate with our embassies in Tel Aviv and in Tehran. Please follow their guidance, inform them of your situation, and do not hesitate to ask for assistance,'' Marcos said. The Philippine government raised crisis alert level 3 in Israel and Iran on June 20, urging Filipinos in the area to avail of voluntary repatriation. Crisis level 3 or voluntary repatriation phase is imposed by the Philippine government on countries with deteriorating security conditions. At least 30,000 workers, mostly caregivers, are in Israel, and more than 1,000 are in Iran. Tensions heightened between Israel and Iran on June 13 after Israel struck nuclear and military targets Tehran with missiles. According to an Israeli military official, Iran had enough material to make 15 nuclear bombs within days. Iran retaliated, then both countries traded missile attacks. The US also bombed Iran nuclear sites on June 21, and Iran thereafter fired missiles at an American base in Qatar on June 23. Palace hits VP Sara for saying she doesn't favor any country
Malacañang on Friday criticized Vice President Sara Duterte for saying she does not favor any country at all. This developed after Duterte recently shrugged off allegations that her family is pro-China as she also questioned the Marcos administration's foreign policy. Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro on Friday reiterated that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., for his part, is pro-Philippines. Economic team sets 2026 national budget at P6.793 trillion
The Marcos administration's economic team, sitting as the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC), has set the state expenditure's plan for next year at P6.793 trillion. The DBCC, chaired by Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, approved the proposed fiscal year 2026 national budget ceiling, which was far slimmer than the total budget proposals received by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Pangandaman said the DBM received budget proposals totaling P10.101 trillion for next year. However, she said that given the limited fiscal space and the government's commitment to gradually reduce the fiscal deficit over the medium term, 'the DBM undertook a rigorous evaluation process.' 'With limited resources, we focused on prioritizing programs and projects that deliver measurable impact, aligned with our national goals, and are ready for implementation. We also carefully evaluated agencies' absorptive capacity to ensure effective utilization of funds,' the Budget chief said. The approved P6.793-trillion proposed budget for 2026 is 7.4% higher than the actual 2025 budget of P6.326 trillion. 'Anchored on the theme, Nurturing Future-Ready Generations to Achieve the Full Potential of the Nation, the FY 2026 National Budget prioritizes human capital development by prioritizing investments in quality education, healthcare, and workforce upskilling,' Pangandaman said. 'Complementing these are continued investments in the Build Better More Infrastructure Program and digital transformation, still aligned with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028,' she added. The Budget chief said the proposed 2026 expenditure program further integrates key measures to enhance climate and disaster resilience, reinforce social protection systems, and deepen the devolution of basic services to local government units. Proposals under the 'Three-Year Rolling Infrastructure Program (TRIP) and the Program Convergence Budgeting (PCB)' framework were also given priority, according to Pangandaman. 'By nurturing future-ready generations through coordinated policy implementation and strategic investments, the government is committed to reducing poverty to single-digit levels, creating quality jobs, safeguarding macroeconomic stability, and ultimately achieving our Agenda for Prosperity in the Bagong Pilipinas—even amidst global uncertainties,' she said. Pangandaman earlier said the proposed 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP), which will become next year's General Appropriations Act (GAA), is targeted to be submitted to Congress 'two weeks after SONA (State of the Nation Address).' President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s fourth SONA —his annual address to the nation to a joint session of House of Representatives and Senate— is on July 28, 2025.
