How to Easily Switch from Apple Music to Spotify

Geeky Gadgets12-06-2025

If you are an Apple Music user, making the transition to Spotify represents a meaningful shift in how you experience music streaming. This change highlights the distinct differences between the two platforms, particularly in areas such as music discovery, device compatibility, social features, interface design, library management, audio quality, and subscription pricing. By examining these aspects, you can decide whether Spotify better aligns with your music streaming needs and preferences.
Watch this video on YouTube. Music Discovery: Spotify's Algorithms Take the Lead
Spotify's music discovery capabilities are driven by sophisticated algorithms that provide a highly personalized listening experience. Features like 'Discover Weekly' and 'Release Radar' analyze your listening habits to recommend songs and artists tailored to your tastes. These tools allow Spotify to consistently introduce you to new music that aligns with your preferences. While Apple Music also offers recommendations, its approach relies more heavily on editorial curation, which may feel less dynamic and personalized. If discovering new music is a priority, Spotify's data-driven system offers a more engaging and innovative way to explore fresh sounds. Cross-Platform Compatibility: Access Anywhere, Anytime
Spotify excels in cross-platform compatibility, making sure seamless functionality across a wide array of devices. Whether you're using an Android phone, a Windows PC, a smart TV, or even a gaming console, Spotify provides consistent performance. This versatility makes it easy to access your music wherever you are. In contrast, Apple Music is optimized for Apple's ecosystem, which can limit its usability on non-Apple devices. If you frequently switch between platforms or use a variety of devices, Spotify's adaptability ensures a smoother and more convenient experience. Social Sharing: Connecting Through Music
Spotify's social features are designed to enhance collaboration and connection through music. You can create collaborative playlists with friends, share songs directly to social media, and follow other users to explore their listening habits. These features make it easy to engage with others and discover music through shared experiences. Apple Music, on the other hand, offers limited social functionality, focusing more on artist-driven content rather than user interaction. If you enjoy sharing music and connecting with others, Spotify's robust social tools provide a richer and more interactive platform for musical engagement. Interface Design: Simplicity Meets Functionality
Spotify's interface is known for its streamlined and user-friendly design, which prioritizes functionality and ease of use. Navigating playlists, discovering new music, and managing your library are intuitive processes, thanks to its clean and organized layout. Apple Music, while visually appealing, can feel cluttered due to overlapping features like 'For You' and 'Browse.' If you value a straightforward and accessible interface, Spotify's design ensures a smoother and more enjoyable user experience. Library Management: Flexible and Organized
Spotify offers flexible tools for managing your music library, allowing you to create folders, reorder tracks, and share playlists effortlessly. These features make organizing your music simple and efficient. While Apple Music provides similar options, it lacks the same level of customization and ease of use. For users who prioritize efficient library management, Spotify's tools offer a more practical and user-friendly solution. Streaming Quality: Balancing Quality and Features
Both platforms deliver high-quality audio, but their approaches differ. Spotify allows users to adjust streaming quality, with a 'Very High' option available for premium subscribers. This flexibility ensures that you can balance audio quality with data usage based on your needs. Apple Music, however, offers lossless audio and spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, providing a richer and more immersive listening experience. If audio quality is your top priority, Apple Music's advanced features may appeal to you. However, Spotify's quality settings are sufficient for most listeners and offer the added benefit of adaptability. Subscription Pricing: Flexibility and Value
Spotify and Apple Music both offer a range of subscription plans, including individual, family, and student options. However, Spotify stands out with its free, ad-supported tier, which allows you to explore the platform without committing to a paid plan. This option provides a cost-effective way to experience Spotify's features before deciding on a subscription. Apple Music, by contrast, requires a subscription to access its full library, offering no comparable free tier. If cost is a significant factor in your decision, Spotify's free option and flexible pricing structure provide greater value and accessibility. Why Spotify May Be the Better Choice
Switching from Apple Music to Spotify after 10 years highlights the unique strengths of each platform. Spotify excels in areas such as music discovery, cross-platform compatibility, social sharing, and interface design, making it a versatile and user-friendly option. While Apple Music offers advantages like lossless audio and seamless integration within Apple's ecosystem, Spotify's adaptability and focus on user experience make it a compelling choice for many. If you're considering a change, Spotify's features may provide a fresh and engaging way to enjoy your music while offering greater flexibility and convenience.

ITV announces huge change to how fans can watch Emmerdale and Coronation Street

From the beginning of next week, soap fans will be able to watch Emmerdale and Coronation Street via a whole new service - leaving many fans rejoicing at the news Soap fans were both excited and confused when ITV announced a major change to their weekly output. For decades, fans have tuned in to watch new episodes of Emmerdale and Coronation Street on the channel when they air on week day evenings. But as of Monday 30 June, fans will be able to watch new episodes from the beginning of the day as they will be available to view online hours before they transmit via traditional transmission avenues. Taking to social media on Sunday, social media channels connected to the soaps shared exciting news with fan. ‌ The update revealed that new episodes will be available to watch via YouTube for the first time. The official Coronation Street Instagram page announced: "Soap fans, rejoice! ‌ "Starting tomorrow, full episodes will be available on YouTube from 7am — the same day they air on TV!" The update included an image showing Emmerdale and Corrie characters posing beneath logos of their respective soaps. The update thus caused some confusion - as some fans thought that the cast of the soaps were being merged. One follower remarked: "I literally thought Debbie was joining Emmerdale for a moment there!" And others were excited to learn that they would be able to watch their favourite soaps via a new format - as many complained the ITV app is nigh on unusable. One hopeful soap fan commented: "Nice I hate itvx with their [user interface] and 27 ads a ep." And another commented: "This is awesome news! Yayyy!" In recent months, ITV has announced a number of changes regarding the way Corrie and Emmerdale will be broadcast. In February it was revealed the schedule would be changed from the beginning of next year. ‌ A statement from the broadcaster explained: "From January 2026, Coronation Street and Emmerdale will move to a new scheduling pattern on ITV1, introducing a soaps power hour from Monday-Friday, with 30 minute Emmerdale episodes at 8pm, and 30 minute Coronation Street episodes at 8.30pm. Episodes will continue to drop at 7am on ITVX, before transmission that evening." ITV's Managing Director of Media and Entertainment Kevin Lygo said at the time:'The new commissioning pattern is viewer-led. We already give more choice than ever to viewers on how they watch us through ITVX and we want to present their favourite soap to them, in the most digestible way. ‌ 'In a world where there is so much competition for viewers' time and attention, and viewing habits continue to change, we believe this is the right amount of episodes that fans can fit into their viewing schedule, to keep up to date with the shows. 'Research insights also show us that soap viewers are increasingly looking to the soaps for their pacey storytelling. Streaming-friendly, 30 minute episodes better provide the opportunity to meet viewer expectations for storyline pace, pay-off and resolution. 'Whilst viewing is growing on ITVX, we know a significant proportion of our soaps' audience still watch us via the schedule. This new pattern is in the DNA of the soap genre - nobody else does 30 minute drama this successfully. It creates a soap power hour that's consistent, and easy to find in the linear schedule, for the UK's biggest soaps. 'This new commissioning pattern will mean five hours of soaps a week, rather than the current six. We are conscious this will have an impact for the people who work on the soaps team. We will support our colleagues in ITV Studios as they work through these changes, and will do what we can to mitigate the impact on our people. 'These changes are motivated by doing what we believe is best for the continuing success of these important programmes in the long term. They also create headroom in the overall programme budget for investment in programming that can help ITV grow reach in a very very competitive market.'

Charli XCX hits back at 'fraud' claims after Glastonbury set criticised

Charli XCX has hit back at claims she is a "fraud" after her Glastonbury Festival headline set was heavily criticised. The Apple singer was headlining the Other stage Saturday evening, with a packed out crowd there to sing and dance with her. However, Charli came under criticism for her set, with many convinced she was miming or using autotune. She referenced the "boomer vibe" comments on her set in a string of Twitter posts. She wrote on X: "Like the idea that singing with deliberate autotune makes you a fraud or that not having a traditional band suddenly means you must not be a 'real artist' is like, the most boring take ever. yawn sorry just fell asleep xx "But to be honest… i enjoy the discourse. imo the best art is divisive and confrontational and often evolves into truly interesting culture rather than being like kind of ok, easily understood and sort of forgettable." She then added: "really enjoying these boomer vibe comments on my glastonbury performance. it's super fascinating to me," before thanking those who gave her five star reviews. During her big set, Charli XCX sang her song with Icona Pop, I Love It, as well her hit viral song Apple, which Gracie Abrams acted as the Apple Girl for and danced the TikTok routine. The singer was accused by fans of miming during her performance, where she headlined the Other stage on Saturday night, whilst Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts performed on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage. At the same time, the Scissors Sisters were performing on the Woodsies stage - and the venue had to be shut down as there were too many people there. Taking to Twitter/X, some fans blasted the singer. One wrote: "Oh ffs can't watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful. Could literally be any random person miming. WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing." Another added: "Predictable but shame nonetheless that charli xcx can't sing live #Glastonbury2025 #charlixcx FAKE." And a third said: "Charli xcx Embarressing [sic]that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing…" Whilst some weren't keen on her set, others loved it. "Charli xcx the icon you are #Glastonbury2025," one wrote, whilst a second added: "Charli xcx killing it." A third penned: "Charli xcx is taking over Glasto, she's bloody amazing."

Katy Perry fans convinced she hinted at Orlando Bloom split last year

Katy Perry's fans think she may have hinted her relationship with Orlando Bloom was in trouble a year ago (Image: Getty Images for MTV) Fans of Katy Perry have uncovered possible signs she channeled her engagement breakdown into her latest album - suggesting her romance with Orlando Bloom could have been all but over last year. The 40--year-old American singer had been engaged to 48-year-old Bloom since 2016. The couple also welcomed a daughter named Daisy together - with the bundle of joy arriving in August 2020. However, reports this year suggested the couple have called time on their romance - and may have gone their separate ways weeks ago. Now fans have been examining the lyrics of songs featured on Katy's 2024 album 143 - including the break up song Truth. The lyrics of the track hint at a relationship ruined by disloyalty. Lyrics include: "I wanna know the truth / Even if it hurts me. I got a vision keepin' me up at night / My intuition's tellin' me things ain't right. "Can't look in the mirror, what is it you're tryna hide? / Can't give me your password to your phone, not start a fight / You're treating me different, tell me what's going through your mind?" Fans have been re-examining the lyrics of the songs she released in 2024 Katy's YouTube page has been buzzing with speculation as fans have been investigating the lyrics of the track. Taking to the comments of a video relating to the track Truth, one fan wrote: "Who's here after the breakup rumors?" Another typed: "So is this song about Orlando?" And a third commented: "Did he do something? Cause even back then I did think this song is so odd to be in a full love album." Earlier this month it was suggested Katy and Orlando had called time on their engagement and decided to split up. An insider claimed Katy's album 143 flopping impacted her relationship, with the source noting: "Orlando was supportive, but it caused some tension." Orlando has been spotted mingling with single women at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez (Image: GC Images) PageSix reported that the couple are waiting until her current tour, Lifetimes, concludes on December 7, before making their split public news. And since these reports emerged, Orlando has been spotted flirting with women at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez - which took place in Italy over the weekend. On Saturday, Katy shared a cryptic social media post that appeared to hint at her state of mind amid the reports of her relationship collapsing. Katy reposted a video from a digital guru who uses "the laws of the universe" to transform lives, suggesting that mastering these laws can "heal" one's life. In the shared clip, the guru stated, "The phase of the moon that was during your date of birth determines your purpose." Katy shared the video without adding any personal commentary, leaving fans to wonder if she was hinting at her own life's purpose. The video explained that those born during a Waning Crescent moon phase are here to "If you were born on a Waning Crescent, you are here to complete the mission that you feel. You are closing chapters no longer beneficial to the collective. You are laying groundwork for new beginnings. Your role is to be a savior to others." The singer also updated her fans with clips from her live performances, including a compilation from The Lifetimes Tour, showcasing her energetic stage presence. As she continues her international tour in Australia, she captioned her concert footage, "ONLY 4 SHOWS LEFT IN AUSTRALIA LFG ADELAIDE." With the tour keeping Katy in Australia, she was noticeably absent from Jeff and Lauren's wedding - despite the singer being a close friend of the couple. She even went to space with Lauren earlier this year on a rocket funded by Jeff's Blue Origin company. Like this story?
