Simón Mesa Soto's ‘A Poet' Boarded by Luxbox Ahead of Cannes Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)
The drama, shot in Medellin, Colombia, follows Oscar Restrepo, whose obsession with poetry has brought him no glory. Aging and erratic, he has succumbed to the cliché of the poet in the shadows. Meeting Yurlady, a teenage girl from humble roots, and helping her cultivate her talent brings some light to his days. But dragging her into the world of poets may not be the way.

'A Poet' is Soto's second feature film after 'Amparo,' which was presented at Cannes Critics' Week in 2021 and won the Louis Roedered Foundation Rising Star Award for the actress Sandra Melissa Torres.
Both his short films, 'Mother' (2016) and 'Leidi' (2014) competed in Cannes and 'Leidi' won the short film Palme d'Or.
The producers on 'A Poet' are Juan Sarmiento G. (Medio de Contención Producciones, Colombia); Manuel Ruiz Montealegre (Medio de Contención Producciones, Colombia); and Simón Mesa Soto (Ocúltimo, Colombia).
The coproducers are Katharina Bergfeld (Majade Fiction, Germany); David Herdies (Momento Film, Sweden); Michael Krotkiewski (Momento Film/Film i Väst, Sweden); and Heino Deckert (Ma.ja.de. Fiction/ZDF Das kleine Fernsehspiel/ARTE, Germany).
The cast is led by Ubeimar Rios, Rebeca Andrade and Guillermo Cardona.

'A Poet' is bold, intimate, and quietly subversive. The film navigates contemporary and deeply human themes with a touch of lightness and unexpected humor. We were especially drawn to how it explores the desire to create, and how its central character finds glimmers of hope in an often unforgiving world.'

She portrays a teacher whose entire class goes missing at the exact same time. The parents of these students blame her. "It's not like anything I've ever seen or read before, so it's ... really hard to describe," Garner said when asked about the film. "It's like a Marvel movie -- you can't really describe it." "It's very cryptic," she added "...There is a lot of jump scares." Josh Brolin also stars in the film and Garner said she was nervous to meet him "because he's one of my favorite actors." "We had so much fun and so many giggles," she added. Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan also star. Cregger directs from a script he wrote. The film stars Michael Douglas, his son Cameron Douglas, Michael Stahl-David, David Morse and Walker Scobell. Michael Douglas plays William McKay, who tells his grandson (Scobell) a story. As a young man (Stahl-David), William reconnected with his father, Leo (Morse) in a father/son fishing competition. Cameron Douglas plays Leo's fishing guide, Cole. Ximena Romo plays Julia, a local doctor who catches young William's eye. Based on books by Bob Rich, Zach Dean and Rowdy Herrington wrote the screenplay. Roberto Sneider directed. Michael and Cameron Douglas previously played father and son in the 2003 film It Runs in the Family. Looking Through Water is in theaters Sept. 12.

Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver Fighting in ‘Marriage Story' Is Being Used by the USDA to Scare Off Wolves and Save Cattle: ‘They Need to Know Humans Are Bad'
A new report from The Wall Street Journal reveals that audio of Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver screaming at each other in Noah Baumbach's 'Marriage Story' is being used by the United States Department of Agriculture to scare off wolves from killing cattle and scaring livestock on farms across the America. The fight scene is the most emotionally volatile moment in Baumbach's 2019 drama, which earned both Johansson and Driver Oscar nominations. Per the WSJ: 'Riding to the rescue are drone cowhands, whose quadcopters have thermal cameras that can reveal any wolf lurking in the darkness and bathe it in a spotlight. A loudspeaker broadcasts alarming sounds like fireworks, gunshots and people arguing. One recording is of the fight between Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in the movie 'Marriage Story.''
