Our missiles tested in Pak during Op Sindoor, now trusted by world, says Yogi at data centre launch by PSU
Ghaziabad: Chief minister
Yogi Adityanath
said on Thursday UP had emerged as a major defence manufacturer for the country while laying the foundation stone for Central Electronics Ltd's data centre in Sahibabad.
At the event, which was also attended by Union minister (independent charge) for science and technology and earth sciences Jitendra Singh, the CM also praised the PSU, which manufactures parts for Akash and BrahMos in the Lucknow node of the state's Defence Industrial Corridor, for its contribution to railways, security, surveillance and solar energy.
Adityanath said it was a rare feat for a state to grow its economy 2.5 times in eight years, crediting his govt – which took office in 2017 – with changing the perception of the state from 'BIMARU' to a developing one by making it a safe place for investment.

"Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a defence manufacturer, with components developed in six nodes (of DIC)… During
Operation Sindoor
, these missiles were successfully tested in Pakistan and have now become trusted by the world," the CM said, referring to India's military operation against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
"Till 2017-18, UP was considered a BIMARU state, but within just eight years, the state under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi got growth impetus, writing new success stories.
The state managed to grow its economy by 2.5 times, and per capita income has also increased by 2.5 times while 6 crore people have been lifted above the poverty line," Adityanath said. "We have received investment proposals in the state to the tune of Rs 50 lakh crore, out of which the groundbreaking of projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore has already been done," he added.
Speaking about his experience of meeting industrialists in Mumbai after he had been sworn in as CM in 2017, Adityanath said he had "requested an industrialist to invest in UP, to which he laughed".
"Such was our state's perception. It was only after I allayed his apprehensions about the state that in 2020, during the pandemic, he approached me seeking to invest in UP. Since he could not come to the state because of travel restrictions, we got a survey of the land parcel done, which he liked. Finally, in 2022, we dedicated a data centre to the nation."
Praising CEL's role in helping the state develop renewable sources of energy, the CM said by 2027, UP will generate 20,000 MW of energy from renewable sources.
CEL's green data centre is touted as a Rs 1,000 crore facility for which the PSU has tied up with ESDS. This will be UP's sixth data centre since 2022. The data centre is designed to be tier-3 grade uptime compliant. Tier-3 data centres can be updated without taking systems offline. A green data centre is one that uses more renewable energy than a conventional data centre.

Some politicians resorting to caste divisions: Yogi Adityanath
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday accused a section of politicians of resorting to caste divisions for survival. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath pays homage to Bharat Mata during an event organised on the eve of the birth anniversary of the great son of Mother India, the philanthropist Bhamashah, in Lucknow on Saturday. (ANI) 'Those who once bowed before mafias and mortgaged power are now trying to divide society along caste lines,' he said, addressing a gathering at Lok Bhavan on the eve of Bhamashah Jayanti and Vyapari Kalyan Diwas. ' Earlier, they extorted money in the name of jobs. Now, they are trying to divide society in the name of caste. That is why I say: 'Batoge toh katoge, ek rahoge toh nek rahoge',' the chief minister asserted. Adityanath called upon society to rise above caste divisions and embrace the ideals of Bhamashah, the legendary figure known for his unwavering patriotism, sacrifice and support to Maharana Pratap. He described Bhamashah as a timeless symbol of unity, service, and dedication to the nation. He also cited the historical contributions of Mysore's King Chamarajendra Wadiyar and Khetri's King Ajit Singh, who supported Swami Vivekananda's journey to the Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Similarly, he mentioned how Baroda's King Sayajirao Gaekwad awarded a scholarship to Dr B.R. Ambedkar for higher education abroad. 'Where was caste in these acts of support?' he asked, adding, 'These were examples of selfless, noble contributions that gifted the world great minds like Vivekananda and Ambedkar.' 'Bhamashah's sacrifice symbolised the true spirit of 'Nation First'. He believed that wealth earned from the country should be returned in service of the country,' the chief minister said. 'Every time we remember Maharana Pratap, we will also remember Bhamashah,' he added. Adityanath stated that in 2016, the murder of a trader took place in Lucknow and a jeweller was shot in Sultanpur—incidents that occurred under a regime which provided shelter to criminals. He stated that under his administration, the security of both traders and women has been treated as paramount. 'We made it clear that anyone who endangers their safety will face strict consequences—Yamraj will cut their ticket,' he remarked. The chief minister added that when action was taken against miscreants, those who once thrived on caste-based politics began shedding crocodile tears. He also talked about the 'One District One Product' (ODOP) scheme, which he said has boosted traditional industries and generated employment for millions. He instructed the GST department to organise annual felicitation ceremonies for the top 10 GST-paying traders in the state capital and the top 10 in each district. The chief minister announced that any GST-paying trader who suffers an accident will be given ₹ 10 lakh in assistance from the government. Adityanath called on traders to join the government's efforts for environmental protection. 'River rejuvenation and plantation drives are ongoing in every district. Traders and business organisations should actively participate,' he urged. CM felicitates top taxpayers The chief minister visited an exhibition showcasing the life of Bhamashah. He also presented the Bhamashah Samman to the state's top revenue-contributing traders and honoured several others for their exemplary contributions to society.

‘Daylight robbery…unacceptable': Karnataka transport minister Ramalinga Reddy orders action against app-based auto aggregators for overcharging
Amid rising complaints from commuters against app-based auto aggregators overcharging post the bike taxi ban, Karnataka transport minister Ramalinga Reddy has directed the transport commissioner to draft and implement an effective action plan—including permit cancellation and criminal cases—against offending auto drivers. 'Passengers have highlighted several violations, including demands for higher-than-fixed fares, cancellation of trips if the inflated fare is not accepted, and exorbitant charges. For instance, on June 18, 2025, the Rapido Auto app charged Rs 100.89 per km, while the same app charged Rs 184.19 for a 4 km journey. Such blatant overcharging amounts to daylight robbery and is unacceptable. Immediate and stringent action is necessary,' Reddy noted in a letter to the transport commissioner on Saturday. He added, 'Although the transport department has already booked several cases against auto drivers for fare refusal and overcharging, complaints continue to pour in from the public. The mobile phone screenshots submitted by commuters serve as evidence of fares exceeding the prescribed limits.' As per the auto fare revision in December 2021, the government has fixed Rs 30 for the first 2 km and Rs 15 for every subsequent km. In 2022, the Karnataka High Court order also capped aggregator commissions at 10 per cent, aimed at making fares more affordable and transparent. As per the high court order, app-based auto aggregators are allowed to charge only 10 per cent above the government-notified fare, plus 5 per cent goods and services tax. However, app-based auto-rickshaw services (e.g., Ola, Uber, Rapido) have been criticised for non-compliance, with fares often exceeding Rs 70 for short rides (e.g., 1.5 km) due to additional charges like surge pricing, congestion fees, pickup fees or optional tips. The complaints of exorbitant charges have reportedly increased after the bike taxi ban kicked in from June 16. Two days ago, Bangalore Central MP P C Mohan shared screenshots on X highlighting exorbitant auto-rickshaw charges through aggregator apps, stating, 'A mere 1.5 km ride costs over Rs 70 in Bengaluru due to a complete breakdown in fare regulation. The State Government must enforce base fares, mandate meter usage, and shield commuters from app-driven cartels and digital monopolies. Overcharging has already cost citizens Rs 1,010 crore.' He further noted, 'Since the bike-taxi ban, auto fares in Bengaluru have spiked by 50%. A 3 km ride now costs Rs 120–Rs 150, with commuters pressured to pay 'tips' of Rs 30–Rs 100 to avoid cancellations. With meters largely ignored and digital platforms unchecked, the Government must intervene to ensure fairness and accountability.' Mohan also sought a revision of auto fares, requesting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to fix the minimum fare at Rs 35. Revision of auto rickshaw fares sought Meanwhile, the Autorickshaw Drivers' Union (ARDU) has submitted representations to the Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner seeking a revision of auto rickshaw fares in accordance with the increase in the central government's Wholesale Price Index. Several other auto rickshaw unions have also proposed increasing the fares in Bengaluru, citing rising operational costs, including fuel, spare parts, and vehicle maintenance. The unions have proposed a base fare of Rs 40 for the first 2 km (up from Rs 30) and Rs 20 for every subsequent km (up from Rs 15). 'While honest auto drivers are compelled to operate at outdated fare rates, their incomes have significantly reduced. This inaction on fare revision has inadvertently allowed a section of drivers to exploit the situation by charging arbitrarily high, often double, fares,' Rudramurthy, president of ARDU, said in a letter to the Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner last week. He added, 'In contrast, cities like Udupi, Mangaluru, and Shivamogga revised their rates in 2023 to Rs 40 for the first 2 km and Rs 20 per km thereafter. In Maharashtra's major cities like Mumbai and Pune, fares are as high as Rs 50 for 2 km and Rs 25 per km thereafter.' Rudramurthy also noted that in certain parts of the city, passengers are often forced to pay inflated charges due to the absence of a legally revised fare structure. He complained that app-based auto rickshaw aggregators have exploited this vacuum by displaying arbitrary and illegal fares on their mobile platforms, resulting in routine passenger exploitation. 'Under the provisions of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, the State Transport Authority is required to constitute a Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to oversee such fare matters. However, the deputy commissioner, who by law should serve as the chairperson of the RTA, has not been officially appointed, resulting in administrative lapses and inaction,' he said.

Shashi Tharoor Hits Back at Donald Trump Over Ceasefire Credit, Emphasises India's Anti-Terror Stand
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has hit back at Donald Trump for claiming credit over the India–Pakistan ceasefire during Operation Sindoor, India's retaliatory military campaign after the Pahalgam terror attack. Tharoor said it was India that made it clear from the outset: 'We were not looking for war, we struck only terror camps. If Pakistan stopped, we would stop. No persuasion needed.' Tharoor also remarked that the U.S. might have spoken to Pakistan, but India's position was crystal clear. He further reflected on his recent diplomatic visit to Russia, where he reiterated India's red line on terror and reinforced India's message post-Sindoor. Watch this powerful rebuttal where Tharoor explains why India's response was measured, firm, and independent, and why no one needs to claim credit for India choosing peace.#ShashiTharoor #OperationSindoor #DonaldTrump #UnitedStates #India #Pakistan #TrumpIndiaCeasefire #IndiaPakistan #TharoorOnTrump #toi #toibharat #bharat #breakingnews #indianews Read More
