Benjamin Nygren Celtic transfer hint amid replacement hunt

Brendan Rodgers pinpointed the Swedish star as a top transfer target after he scored 15 goals in 30 games last season for FC Nordsjaelland.
Now, their director of football, Alexander Riget, admits the Danish club are trying to plan for life without Nygren.
However, he concedes that replacing a player of his quality won't come cheap.
"When you play with so many young players, and they make their debut on various A-national teams, offers can come in, and that is something we are continuously evaluating," Riget told Tipsbladet.
"Our strategy is always to use our own young talents as much as possible, but if there are places in the team where we can see an opportunity for a qualitative boost while the talents grow, and that it is also in the form of a profile type that can support our own academy players, that is of course something we will look at.
"We are looking for players in different places on the pitch where they can help increase our level and provide more stability.

"For example, we can see that there is great and early interest in offensive, young players, so it is always a good idea if we have a player type like Benjamin Nygren, who has performed well over a number of years and given us stability in the front line.
"In addition to looking for an offensive player, we are also looking at other positions.
"So we will be active in the summer transfer window. It costs some money, but with the right quality we are also ready to invest.
"If something happens, we may have to do something further but the focus will always and will continue to be on creating space and time for the many talents that come up from the academies in Farum and Ghana."

Wimbledon player under fire for selling broken rackets online for over £5,000

Babolat have issued a strong response to Wimbledon star Holger Rune selling broken tennis rackets on his online shop for $7,231 (£5,324). Rune was seeded eighth in the men's singes at this year's Championships but shockingly crashed out in the first round to world No.143 Nicolas Jarry. The 22-year-old Danish player recently listed two destroyed rackets on his official Shop Holger Rune website – but they have since been taken down. Marion Cornu, who is the Tennis Business Leader at iconic racket brand Babolat, told CLAY and RG Media: 'We are in talks with his agent. 'Obviously, it is not our intention to promote broken rackets. We must be consistent with our values, so we are working on this issue with his representatives.' Rune's team claim Babolat have not made contact with the player's agent -and that it was staff at Shop Holger Rune who chose to take the rackets down – due to 'overwhelming media attention', according to CLAY. Before the items were removed, the Shop Holger Rune website read: 'Holger Rune's smashed rackets are ultra-rare collector's items, used in official matches and only available in very limited numbers. 'Why? Because Holger rarely lets frustration take over. But when he does, the moment – and the racket – tells a story.' Rune looked in firm control in his first-round match against Jarry – winning the first two sets – before his opponent came roaring back to secure a 4-6 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 victory on Court 3. The Dane blamed his early Wimbledon exit on a knee injury he picked up in the fourth set of Monday's match. 'I think I started all right in the match playing well,' Rune said in his post-match press conference. 'Then third set, a bit unlucky. 'Fourth set I started to feel my knee and then got some treatment. Yeah, never was able to serve and hit my backhand as I was, you know, able to do in the first two sets. 'I've had [the knee problem] before. I have not had it for a long time. I don't know. I know what it is, and especially being extremely low on the grass, it can bother that area. More Trending 'You know, obviously didn't expect it to come back, but that can happen, yeah. 'If I play normal, I'm beating him nine out of 10 times, with all respect for Nicolas Jarry. 'Obviously today didn't make it a lot easier with my knee, but yeah, it was not great. 'I'm going to check now with the head doctor and physio and will take it from there.' Michael Schumacher's son's ex-girlfriend romantically linked to Wimbledon ace

Mick Schumacher's ex-girlfriend Laila Hasanovic has been romantically linked with Wimbledon star Jannik Sinner for some time - but is the French Open finalist actually dating anyone? Laila Hasanovic may have swapped the racetrack for the tennis court after the ex-girlfriend of Mick Schumacher was romantically linked to Wimbledon star Jannik Sinner. That's after she was spotted during the French Open final last month. Sinner, who experienced heartbreak at Roland-Garros after losing in the final, split with former partner Anna Kalinskaya earlier in 2025 and had been linked with Hasanovic during the tournament. ‌ Hasanovic had spent a significant amount of time with former F1 star Mick, son of the legendary Michael. According to Bild, she is one of the only people to be let into Schumacher's family's inner circle. It was reported that the F1 star's relatives were "smitten" with the model, and she was the only one of Mick's partners to be allowed to visit his father, Michael, following his skiing accident in 2013. ‌ However, Hasanovic appears to have moved on from Mick – and potentially to another sport altogether. The Danish model was spotted in the French Open crowd last month as Sinner battled against Carlos Alcaraz in one of the biggest major finals for some time. A week later, Sinner appeared to put to bed any rumours of a relationship with Schumacher's ex after the Daily Mail reported that the pair were spotted by a fan on a date in Copenhagen. After being asked about the situation during a media conference, Sinner said: "No, no, there was no girl. I had just some business with a couple of photo shootings there. That's it. Nothing else." As the Italian tennis star breezed through to the second round of Wimbledon, fans have been interested in whether Sinner will have a new face cheering him on in his box at SW19. ‌ The 23-year-old has also been linked with Russian model Lara Leito, after La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the pair were dating. Leito, 31, who was previously in a relationship with two-time Oscar winner Adrien Brody, is thought to have met Sinner in Monte Carlo during the tennis star's recent three-month suspension from the sport. Chi Magazine published photos of the pair reportedly on a date in Monte Carlo, prompting questions about their relationship status. ‌ But it seems like Sinner will continue to hold his cards close to his chest, as he told the media during the French Open that he and Leito were not romantically engaged in a relationship. He said: "I was very surprised to see some pictures, which, you know, nothing serious … I'm not in a relationship. So, whoever is asking, that's it. It's all good." For now, Sinner's biggest concern will be defeating world no. 93 Aleksandar Vukic on Wednesday in order to progress to the next round of Wimbledon.

Arsenal given fresh Viktor Gyokeres boost as striker sends goodbye message

With Viktor Gyokeres seemingly closing in on a move to Arsenal, Sporting CP are planning for the future, with at least one talented young marksman on his way to Lisbon Sporting CP appear to be preparing for life without Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres as they close in on a talented young striker. Gyokeres is reportedly in advanced talks with the Gunners, who are desperate to land a top-class number nine. A five-year contract is said to have been agreed. The Swedish forward now appears to be Arsenal 's top priority, with a move for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko on the backburner. ‌ Manchester United, whose head coach Ruben Amorim managed the Swedish forward at Sporting, have also been in the frame to land the former Coventry City ace, who has scored 97 goals in 102 games since signing for the Portuguese side in 2023. ‌ Sporting president Frederico Varandas admitted at the weekend that there is a "strong likelihood" Gyokeres will leave the club this summer and reiterated that the club will not hold out for the 26-year-old's release fee, believed to be almost £85million. However, there are claims that Gyokeres has been unhappy with Sporting's financial demands. With a potentially big hole to fill in their attack, Sporting have been proactive by moving for Peruvian hotshot Victor Guzman from Alianza Lima. Speaking after Alianza B team's recent victory over Universitario Deportes, the 19-year-old expressed his excitement about the impending transfer. Per A Bola, he said: "I am very happy and excited about what lies ahead, and I will continue to work as I have done so far. 'Sporting is a historic club in Portugal, and it is Cristiano Ronaldo 's club. I don't have the exact day of my trip to Portugal, but it's next week.' ‌ Paying tribute to Alianza, he added: 'I'm very thankful to Alianza. It's a very nice thing for me to have shared all this time with them. They're great people and I know they'll take this club forward.' Guzman, who has reportedly signed a three-year contract, has been signed with one eye on the future and is expected to link up with Sporting's under-23 squad initially. He isn't the only striker being targeted by Sporting, who are keen on Union Saint-Gilloise striker Franjo Ivanovic. Per Sporting have lodged a bid of around £17m, which is short of the Belgian champions' valuation of £25.6m. Besiktas and Frankfurt, plus clubs in Italy, are also said to be interested in Ivanovic, who netted 20 goals for the Belgian champions last season.
