LAKE COUNTY, Ill. - A car slammed into a townhome in Vernon Hills on Saturday morning, sending one person to the hospital and forcing two families to find other housing, according to fire officials.
What we know
The Countryside Fire Protection District said crews responded around 9:30 a.m. to the area of Indianwood Drive and Michigan Court for a report of a vehicle crash into a building.
When emergency crews arrived, they found a single vehicle had crashed into a townhome. The driver was already out of the vehicle.
Two townhomes were damaged in the crash. One person was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and two families were displaced due to structural damage.

Man flown to Boston hospital after fiery crash on I-93 in New Hampshire
A man was flown to a Boston hospital with serious injuries after he was pulled from a burning car on Interstate 93 in New Hampshire late Thursday night, officials announced Friday. Troopers responding to a report of a car that had crashed into a tree on the southbound side of the highway in Londonderry around 11:15 p.m. found good Samaritans trying to pull a man out of a Mazda 3, which was engulfed in flames, according to New Hampshire State Police. Law enforcement took charge of the scene and successfully helped the driver to safety. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Georgios Nicolopoulos, of Windham, was taken to a local hospital before being flown to Boston for additional treatment. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. 6 hospitalized after early morning crash on Colorado Highway 93 in Jefferson County
Six people were rushed to the hospital after an early morning crash Friday on Colorado Highway 93 in Jefferson County. According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers rushed to the head-on crash involving a Chevrolet Traverse and a Jeep Compass about 5:16 a.m. The crash prompted a closure of Highway 93 in both directions between Highway 72 and 64th Avenue. The early morning crash on Highway 93. CBS State troopers said six people were rushed to the hospital, with one driver and a passenger were seriously injured. Investigators told CBS Colorado that it is unclear which vehicle the seriously injured individuals were in at the time of the crash. That portion of the highway remained closed for about two-and-a-half hours before reopening.
