Veteran galloper lining up for his eighth trainer wins Ipswich Cup at 48th start
Beginning his career with a Townsville maiden victory in 2018, the enduring veteran was lining up for his eighth trainer and his victories stretched from as far north as Cairns to as deep down as Cranbourne.
The $31 TABtouch outsider found himself in the back half of the field as Akrotiri ($7) worked hard to hold the front with several runners keen to lead.
Switched off mid-stages, Flash Aah found himself amongst horses and with only four behind at the 600m while Felix The Scat ($14) hooked around him and made a surging move.
With rider Ron Stewart getting animated, Flash Aah tried to cover the run of Felix The Scat but with a sweeping bid, Mark Du Plessis sent Felix The Scat clear rounding the turn.
Balancing up in the straight, Troy Pascoe's rising 10-year-old continued to chip away at the margin and as the leader began to finally flag from the long run, Flash Aah ate into the margin.
In the final 100m, the son of Lucas Cranach gathered up the gutsy Felix The Scat and hit the lead with 20m remaining to win by a neck.
In triumph, he snapped a 1000-day winning drought with his previous victory at Bendigo in April 2022 when trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young.
'I wasn't counting, I knew that every day was closer to his next win,' his trainer Pascoe said.
'He's been all over Australia but he's in the right hands now.
'He's found his home. He loves life with us and we love him.
'He's like a big dog, like a big pet. He follows you around and he's just so relaxed.
'You get him out and he's looking at the butterflies and the rainbows.
'He just doesn't give a sh*t. He's a beautiful animal.'
Despite the longshot status, Pascoe's optimism didn't wane.
'I never lost faith in him. I kept saying that this was the race I wanted to get him in. I absolutely thought he could win it,' he said.
'I was blown away at the price, I couldn't believe it.
'My staff have done an amazing job. He ran third in this race four years ago and to come back as a nine, rising 10-year-old, they should take a bow.'

An upbeat Ward previously worked on a cruise ship before being recruited for the cheer squad. Fresh from being presented with the uniform, she admitted the news still hasn't sunk in yet. 'It was all the hard work over the years,' Ward said. 'I am getting emotional because it feels like everything, I worked towards paid off. That feeling will never compare. Seriously, it was the most heartwarming, surreal feeling. I am so beyond incredibly grateful. 'Seeing the uniform in my hands knowing I am going to join most iconic team in the world was just like, 'someone wake me up from this dream'. I couldn't believe it. That's why as you can see in that photo, I am just as shocked as you guys are.' Ward displayed a huge amount of humility as she explained there aren't a lot of jobs for dancers, so she felt this was a huge moment for her and the hard work she has done. 'Growing up, I was an all-star cheerleader, professional dancer, worked my whole life towards achieving a goal,' Ward said. 'Obviously in the dance industry there's only so many jobs. In my brain I was like 'I'm reaching for the stars, I want to go for DCC'. 'When I got recruited, (I was) reached out (to) by one of the staff members, and I thought this is the time to take my chance and reach for the stars and go for my dreams. 'That's why I applied.' Ward, who has gained the nickname 'Flexi Faith' for her incredible flexibility, just finished at training camp. She confessed she is yet to do the jump splits in a routine, saying she was anxiously awaiting it. 'I'm like, 'when are we doing it?' I'm so for it. '(When I do it, I'll be thinking) oh my goodness, I have down one of the most iconic routines. 'Get the legs up, get the split and nail it. That's what will be going through my head.' The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders just got a 400 per cent increase in pay, due to the popularity of their Netflix show titled America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Ward said she was ready for the crazy adventure that will be being on the team. 'This is the smallest class of rookies,' she said. 'To have made the team and being (only one of) six people only out of thousands of girls that applied it is a dream come true. 'I felt it was rewarding for my family and friends to have seen that. 'They have seen that side of me to how hard I have worked to get to where I am. 'It felt like they were winning with me, and they were just as excited.'

Huge hint Tim Tszyu's boxing career is over after Aussie quits on stool against Sebastian Fundora
Tim Tszyu has been released from the hospital, but his boxing future is in serious doubt after a second brutal beat down by Sebastian Fundora. Australia's former WBO super-welterweight champion was badly outclassed on Sunday before quitting on the stool at the end of the seventh round. Tszyu was dropped in round 1, and things only got uglier from there, with the loss leaving the Aussie to ponder if continuing in the brutal sport is worth it anymore. 'I tried to give it everything, but I just couldn't do it,' Tszyu said after the fight. The Tszyu camp went to great lengths after the fight to dismiss the Aussie gave up on himself, stating it was a joint decision to throw in the towel. And while Tszyu stopped short of saying he quit after yet another defeat, his words, 'I just couldn't do it', said it all. As did the blank stare and distressed state he was in back in the dressing room after the fight, as the heavy burden of trying to carry on the Tszyu legacy appears to finally be taking its toll. The 30-year-old had been attempting to emulate his Hall of Fame dad Kostya as only the third father-son duo in boxing history to both win multiple world titles. But that dream appears now dead in the water. And Tszyu's promoter, former rugby league hard man George Rose, hinted in a statement on Sunday night that Tszyu may walk away from the sport. 'It's just a decision up to him as to what he's going to do, whether he gets back in the gym on Monday, whether he has a break, what he does,' Rose said in a statement. 'In this sport, a loss is a long time that you've got to deal with that for. 'It's not a one-week thing like most team sports, where you can move on within a week. 'A lot's got to happen on the back of it. Firstly, you've got to go medically. 'Then you've got to look at where the hunger's at, and Tim's one person you never can question his hunger or desire or the amount of application he puts in with his efforts in this sport. He rips in. 'He just fought for a world title at the MGM Grand, so while that's a really cool thing, taking a loss is a tough thing. 'I know Tim's still very talented, very capable, but it comes down to him. He's the guy who's got to put his life on the line in the ring. 'So the decision is on him, and I support him with whatever he chooses 100 per cent.' Tszyu has now lost three of his past four fights. He has been outclassed twice by Fundora and was also walloped in his title fight against Russian Bakhram Murtazaliev at the end of 2024. Whether Tszyu wishes to rebuild his career is unknown at this stage, but if he does, his road to the top is now a long one. Had Tszyu won on Sunday, his promoter No Limit was targeting a fight with a US superstar – either Keith Thurman, Jermell Charlo or Errol Spence Jr. But after a third loss in four fights, any Tszyu rebuild would now likely start back Down Under, potentially fighting Michael Zerafa – a man long seen as inferior to Tszyu. Currently, Zerafa is slated to fight on Tim's brother Nikita's August comeback card and then, should the pair both win, square off with 'The Butcher' at the end of the year. However, if Tszyu does wish to try and make a run to the top again, a fight against Zerafa – a man he was scheduled to fight back in 2021 – appears a logical place to start.
