Man missing for 20 yrs found posing as sadhu under ‘Op Kalnemi', reunited with family
He had remained untraceable despite his family's efforts, and his mum, who faced a severe emotional toll after his 'disappearance', died around eight years ago, without being able to find him. Kashyap's real identity was only confirmed on Monday during a police verification drive as part of 'Op Kalnemi', which was initiated in Uttarakhand during the kanwar yatra against men who have allegedly been posing as seers to dupe people, mainly women and youngsters.
He survived for all these years by begging at the shrine premises.
Police handed him over to his surviving relatives on Tuesday, who broke down in tears upon being reunited with him. "He left on foot and gradually travelled, possibly by bus or hitching rides, before eventually reaching Kaliyar after several months. There, he began begging and started living with a few ascetics. We searched for him desperately back then.

By God's grace, we found him alive," said Charan Singh, Kashyap's maternal uncle.
Singh, along with three other relatives, went to Kaliyar to bring him home.
Kashyap had lost his father when he was barely six years old. He has a younger sister who is now married. His extended family comprises daily wage labourers. With both of his parents no longer alive, Singh informed police that he would take his nephew to live with him in Moradabad's Bathua Khera village.
"It was extremely difficult to get any information from Jitendra about his family. Since he is someone with learning difficulties, we had to patiently probe and piece together fragments of information before finally identifying his relatives," said Ravindra Kumar, in-charge of Piran Kaliyar police station. He added that this was the first such case under Op Kalnemi in the state where a missing person was reunited with his family.
Piran Kaliyar police have so far identified and detained 12 individuals posing as seers under the operation.

Wife, 2 men she paid with gold bangles get life for killing ex-soldier
Agra: A Hathras court has sentenced a woman and two of her associates to life imprisonment for murdering her husband, a retired soldier, who was strangled at his Saadabad home in April last year. Kumkum Bala, 42, paid Rajender Chaudhry, 38, and Chaman Khan, 40, with her gold bangles as she had no money to offer, additional district govt counsel (ADGC) Pratibha Rajput said on Tuesday. The case came to light after Kalicharan Gautam, a resident of Saadabad, filed a complaint at the local police station alleging that his younger brother, Anil Kumar, 45, who retired from the Army on Jan 31, 2023, was murdered by Bala and her two aides. In his complaint, Gautam said that frequent visits by unknown men to Bala's house often led to arguments between the couple. "My brother came home after his retirement. His wife, Kumkum Bala, was of questionable character and several men visited her regularly. Anil objected to this, and they often fought. She had even threatened to kill him earlier," he said. He added, "Despite my efforts to resolve their issues, the situation in their house never improved." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like അപൂർവ്വയിനം റോസാ വിത്തുകൾ: വേഗത്തിലുള്ള ഡെലിവറി Rare Climbing Rose Seeds Learn More Undo He alleged that on the night of Apr 15–16, 2023, Bala, along with Chaudhry and Khan, "murdered my brother by beating and strangling him." CM rejects allegations against digital varsity
T'puram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan rejected opposition leader V D Satheesan's allegations regarding financial irregularities and lack of transparency at Kerala Digital University. He stated that the charges were factually incorrect and misleading. In a detailed written reply to a letter sent by Satheesan, chief minister clarified that a statutory audit was being conducted at the university and that audit for 2023-24 financial year was already completed. He further said that the university officially requested comptroller and auditor general (CAG) to undertake further audits and that the next course of action lies with CAG. Dismissing the accusation that a company was secretly set up under the university, CM stated that the company was established in compliance with the stated policy and regulations of digital university. "The formation of the company is not in violation of any norms. It was done with administrative approval of ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) under govt of India," he wrote. Refuting the claim that advance funds were transferred to I-GEIC (International Graphene and Emerging Innovation Centre), Vijayan said the allegation was baseless. "Calling I-GEIC a fraudulent entity is without any factual basis," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo CM highlighted the credibility of those associated with the company, stating that its chairman is Madhavan Nambiar, a former Union civil aviation secretary. He said that, as a modern institution, the university can source funding for faculty salaries and other expenses through the projects they undertake. "Attempts are being made to portray such projects as scams by misrepresenting these facts," the letter said.

Woman gets life term for killing child, 5, leaving body on rly tracks
Agra: A Firozabad court sentenced a 40-year-old woman to life in jail for strangling her 5-year-old daughter and leaving the body on railway tracks in 2019. Sunita Kumari had been living separately from her husband with her youngest daughter, Neha, at the time of the incident. Police said she murdered the girl following frequent disputes with her sister's husband, with whom she was in a relationship. He was allegedly hostile towards the child and objected to her presence. Assistant district govt counsel (ADGC) Narayan Saxena said the case dates back to April 23, 2019, when Vishnu Sharma, an ice supplier at the railway station, found Neha Kumari's body near the tracks and alerted police. A postmortem was conducted, and a case under section 302 (murder) of IPC was registered at the GRP station in Firozabad. "The body was sent for a postmortem and an FIR was registered under section 302 (murder) of the IPC at the GRP station in Firozabad," Saxena told TOI. Sunita was arrested the same day. During the investigation, police recovered the clothes used to strangle the girl and stones with her blood stains. Probe found that Sunita, who had been married to Rajesh Kumar for 16 years and had three children with him, was living alone with Neha after separating from her husband. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 most beautiful women in the world Undo Her two elder children stayed with their father.
