Primetime 585 Spotlight Team: Williamson girls track and field
The girls won their fourth consecutive sectional championship in class B3 by an incredible 62 points.
'They all contributed,' head coach Carl Comstock said. 'It starts in November and it goes all the way through. And everybody did what they needed to do. It's not a one-person thing. It's a 30 girl thing.'
Madison Nuessle is one of the few seniors who have been a part of all four sectional championships. There's a good chance there will be five in a row because more than a third of the Marauders are juniors.
'It's amazing,' Nuessle said. 'I wish I could say they're not going to do it again next year without me, but they will. These juniors are crazy. I'm just glad I got to be a part of it every year. It's so nice just to be part of this little family.'
Williamson dominated the 1,500 race walk by placing 1-4, earning the team 31 points alone in the race, with Faith Atwater winning with a time of 8:40.92
Williamson also has Hannah Governor, a three-time News 8 Primetime Elite Award winner who won the 1500 with a time of 5:06.50. The second-place runner was 34 seconds behind her!! Hannah also won the 3000 by 37 seconds and added another first-place finish in the 1,000 meters.
Hannah's older sister Alexa was also an accomplished Section Five distance runner. That last name has become a target on the Williamson junior's back.
'There is some pressure because I know people are trying to race me in everything,' Governor said. 'It feels good because I definitely worked for it. My coaches are really supportive of everything.'
The Marauders won the 4×200 and the 4×400 relays. In the field events, Madyson Storey easily won the high jump to earn another 10 points for her team.

While Bailey isn't exactly 'the gem of the draft,' coming in as a lottery pick at No. 5 to the Utah Jazz, his suit certainly compensated with shine and shimmer. His bejeweled black suit honored his family with custom pictures on the jacket's lining. A red shirt, lapels and cuffs paid homage to his Rutgers allegiance. With every step and sparkle, Bailey made it clear: one life and one franchise would be changed forever. — Bre I guess when you're as explosive an athlete as VJ Edgecombe, you don't need bursts of color to make a fashion impact. The No. 3 draft pick's striking black fit was interwoven with deeper nods to his home and family: Styled by his older brother, the all-black suit sported a subtle latticework pattern paired with YSL shoes, Prada glasses, silver and diamond jewelry and — best of all — the colors of the Bahamian flag flashing at his wrists. The all-business look opened up to reveal a collage of family photos sewn in the lining, a long-standing tradition in NBA Draft fashion. — Hannah The No. 2 pick looked understated — until he walked into the light. The all-black jacquard suit shimmered under the bright spotlights of Brooklyn's Barclays Center. His black Louboutin loafers were studded with silver spikes, completing a look as smooth as satin. The former Rutgers guard was a massive favorite to go second in the draft: Could his glinting black suit be a nod to the black and silver of the San Antonio Spurs, his new home team? The Utah Jazz's pick at No. 21 sported a blue double-breasted suit and accessorized his look with silver and diamonds. He topped off his look with a pair of Louis Vuitton Time Out sneakers originally designed by the late fashion icon Virgil Abloh. The sneakers Newell wore — currently sold out in the white colorway on Louis Vuitton's site — normally go for $1,360. Primetime 585 Shining Star: Greyson Hathway
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — News 8's Primetime 585 Shining Star spotlights students who are making a positive impact on their school communities through sport. Friday's Shining Star features Penn Yann freshman, Greyson Hathway. Hathway is recognized as the first seventh grader to play lacrosse at the varsity level since 1989. On June 12, he broke the New York State faceoff win record for a single sitting, earning him the number one spot in the state. He is also a varsity football and junior varsity basketball player for Penn Yann. Outside of sports, he excels as an honor roll student and plays the trumpet in addition to being an active 4-H member. Hathway will go on to play in the state championships scheduled for Saturday at Hobart. Amerks will celebrate the life of Calder Cup Champion Scott Metcalfe
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Amerks will hold a celebration of life for former player Scott Metcalfe Friday afternoon. Metcalfe, an Amerks Hall of Famer and Calder Cup Champion, died suddenly last week at 58 years old. He played nine seasons with Rochester and was a member of the Calder Cup Championship team in 1996. Friday is the 29th anniversary of the 1996 championship. The community is invited to the celebration of life, which will feature words from Metcalfe's family and former teammates. The celebration of life will be held at Blue Cross Arena Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Amerks fans are encouraged to donate to a GoFundMe to support Metcalfe's family and legacy.
