KUALA LUMPUR - Ten police officers who were recently arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Pahang and Johor will face disciplinary action, said Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) Director, Datuk Hamzah Ahmad.
He said an internal investigation has already been carried out, including the possibility of suspending the officers involved.
"This case involves the arrest of police officers in Pahang and Johor. It has been handed over entirely to the MACC, and JIPS will continue to cooperate throughout the investigation.
"We will await the investigation process until they are charged in court and sentenced before taking further action," he said after the 2025 Inspector-General of Police's Meet and Greet Session with the Media at Bukit Aman here today.
Hamzah said that JIPS will take internal action in line with existing procedures.
The media previously reported that six police officers were remanded until Aug 6 to assist in the investigation of a case involving soliciting and accepting a bribe of approximately RM12,000 in exchange for not taking action against offences related to the possession of ketum water in Temerloh, Pahang.
Additionally, four police officers were arrested by the Johor MACC on suspicion of soliciting and accepting a bribe of approximately RM635,000 from an individual in exchange for not taking action against gambling activities. - BERNAMA

Burglar nabbed after returning to crime scene to retrieve belongings
BALIK PULAU: A man who broke into a house in Batu Maung was caught after he returned to the scene to retrieve items he had left behind. Chinese national fined for overstaying in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU (Aug 4): An Immigration Court here fined a Chinese national RM10,000, in default, six months' jail for overstaying in Sabah. Judge Hurman Hussain imposed the fine on Wang Hongzang after the latter pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, punishable under Section 15 (4) of the same Act. Wang, who holds a People's Republic of China passport, admitted to committing the offence at the departure hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on July 16. The charge stated that Wang had overstayed in the state after his social visit pass had expired for one month and 12 days. The pass only valid until June 5. Wang had paid his fine.

Electricity thief fined RM21,000
KOTA KINABALU (Aug 4): A 58-year-old man was fined a total of RM21,000 by a Sessions Court here today for illegally using electricity by bypassing terminal meters with cables. Tonny Voo pleaded guilty before judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to two charges under Sub-Section 61(3)(c) of the Electricity Supply Enactment 2024, punishable under Sub-Section 61(3)(ii) of the same law. The provision carries a penalty of between RM20,000 and RM1 million, or a jail term of up to five years, or both, upon conviction. For the first and second counts, Voo was fined RM1,000 (in default, 14 days' imprisonment) and RM20,000 (in default, five months' imprisonment) respectively for committing the offences in Tamparuli on February 24. In mitigation, Voo's counsel Jeremy Ho appealed for a lenient sentence, citing it was his client's first offence. However, the prosecution pressed for a deterrent sentence, highlighting the seriousness of the offence and the financial loss suffered by Sabah Electricity. A heavier sentence, the prosecution argued, would serve as a warning to Voo and others against similar violations in the future.
