Sharjah hosts 'Ocean Man' Open Water Swimming Championship
Five Main Races Over Two Days
Al Jasmi explained that the event includes five main races spread over the weekend. On Sunday, elite swimmers will compete in a 10 km race, while intermediate-level athletes will tackle a 5 km swim. On Saturday, swimmers can take part in a 2 km speed challenge, and teams will compete in a 3 x 500 m relay, designed to promote team spirit.
500 m Children's Race
A special 500-metre race for children aged 7 to 14 is also scheduled, aiming to foster a love for sports and encourage healthy, active lifestyles in a fun and safe competitive environment.
Full-Service Field Hospital Near Race Site
Al Jasmi emphasised that safety is a top priority. A fully equipped field hospital has been set up near the race area, alongside trained marine rescue and ambulance teams, to ensure the highest standards of safety for participants of all ages.
Global Sporting Events a Key Focus
He concluded by affirming the Sharjah Government Media Bureau's continued commitment to supporting and attracting international sports events that align with the Emirate's vision of promoting sports as a lifestyle and fostering a culture of positive competition and community engagement.

The championship saw the participation of 71 players from various clubs across the Emirate, with the aim of attracting talented individuals. Promoting Chess and Developing Skills Al Mulla confirmed that the Sharjah Summer Sports Rapid Chess Championship, organised by the club, aims to promote the game of chess within the community, discover promising talents in the sport, and enhance the skills of participants through interaction and competition with players from different clubs. Part of 'Our Holiday is Different' Activities In a special statement to 'Sharjah 24,' Al Mulla noted that the championship is part of the 'Our Holiday is Different' summer programme, held under the patronage and supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council. The competition featured 71 participants across seven rounds. Winners Honoured at Closing Ceremony At the end of the championship, five players were honoured for securing the top positions, in addition to a special award presented to the best-performing female participant .

Al Madam Club hosts a traditional games event
Al Qurs told Sharjah 24 that the event featured a variety of traditional Emirati sports such as tug of war, carrom, 'yola' and 'razfa' performances, and coffee-making competitions.
