Mother of slain Adelaide man tells court of wound 'that can never be healed'

The mother of a man killed over a dispute about a motorcycle in Adelaide's northern suburbs has told a court the death of her son created a wound "that can never be healed".
Johnathon Malcolm Goodfellow, 32, was previously found not guilty by a Supreme Court jury of murder over the stabbing death of Jordan Torrans, but guilty of manslaughter.
Mr Torrans died after he was stabbed six times at Mr Goodfellow's Salisbury Downs home on September 20, 2023.
On Monday, the Supreme Court heard 16 victim impact statements from the family of Mr Torrans, with his mother, Dawn Torrans, saying her life was "shattered the day you killed my son".
"The impact of what you've done is far greater than you can possibly imagine because he was a genuinely good person," she said.
"You stole a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, an uncle, a cousin, a friend and a father. You stabbed all of my family that day.
Prosecutor Chris Pouras read a victim impact statement to the court on behalf of Mr Torrans's daughter Laurie, who was just 10-years-old when her father died.
"I miss my dad. I miss his jokes and his laugh and the time he spent with me," she wrote.
"I never get to see my mum and dad together again. We never get to have food together again, or car rides as a family again.
"My family can never call my dad again when we need his help.
"I now have to live longer without my dad than while I got to live with my dad."
Defence lawyer Jeffrey Powell, for Goodfellow, told the court the offence occurred "in the circumstance" of a "home invasion committed by Mr Torrans".
"At the time of Mr Torrans's arrival to the premises, and his entry to the kitchen, Mr Goodfellow was entirely blameless.
"The dispute between these two men was tragically, in some way, nothing other than trifling."
Goodfellow will be sentenced at a later date.

Zakia Bashi Qamber fronts Adelaide court in alleged hit-and-run case

Chilling CCTV that allegedly shows a car being driven by a mother striking and killing a woman in a hit-and-run crash has surfaced, as the accused faces court six months on from the incident. Zakia Bashi Qamber fronted Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, charged with causing the death of the 40-year-old woman in the early morning crash in January. Grainy CCTV footage shows a vehicle, allegedly driven by Ms Qamber, approaching the woman with headlights piercing the darkness. The woman suffered serious injuries in the hit on Kinkaid Rd in Elizabeth East and died at the scene. Ms Qamber is charged with causing death by the careless use of a vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident after causing death. She was due to enter pleas to the charges on Thursday but Michael Woods, appearing for Ms Qamber, asked for an eight-week adjournment as he needed more time to consume material. Mr Woods said he was still waiting on body-worn camera footage from the scene of the crash, the confirmation of biological material on the undercarriage of the vehicle and a post-mortem toxicological report. He told the court he might consider a no case to answer application after reviewing the material. 'It appears there is a large amount of disclosure outstanding,' Magistrate Lynette Duncan said. She listed September 18 for the next answer charge hearing, where Ms Qamber is expected to enter her pleas. An interpreter stood with Ms Qamber in the dock and spoke softly to her throughout proceedings. Ms Qamber has been granted bail and left the court with a supporter. She has no prior criminal history.

Jack Gibson-Burrell: Alleged Pam the Bird graffiti artist dons Spider-Man outfit in bizarre court appearance

The man police allege is the sole artist behind Melbourne's Pam the Bird graffiti has donned a Spider-Man outfit in an odd run in with television cameras outside court. Jack Gibson-Burrell dropped to the ground and performed one of the comic book character's iconic poses before running down the street and feigning an attempt to climb the side of the Melbourne Magistrates Court. The 21-year-old appeared in court shortly after midday on Thursday for a brief administrative hearing on a series of alleged offences including burglary, criminal damage, theft and assault. Police allege Mr Gibson-Burrell is the artist behind a series of high-profile graffiti incidents depicting a cartoon bird in jaw-dropping locations across the city. The former Yarraville resident was arrested on January 30 and initially charged with 59 offences. But in court, Magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz noted there were now 208 charges listed against Mr Gibson-Burrell. During a bail application in February, where the accused man was freed to live with his grandmother in Geelong, police revealed Mr Gibson-Burrell had been under surveillance for more than 200 hours in 2024 and early 2025 as they worked to build a case against him. 'The accused is currently one of the most prominent graffiti artists in Australia,' Senior Constable Scott Nicholls alleged. 'The accused has committed, and will continue to commit burglaries to gain access to whichever locations he desires, and will frequently abseil to vandalise property with graffiti.' The court was told Mr Gibson-Burrell's lawyer, Mick Milardovic, had filed paperwork to prepare for a committal hearing — where a magistrate would hear the case and decide if there was sufficient evidence for it to go to trial. Mr Milardovic intends to question six witnesses, five police and one civilian, in the two-day hearing set down for February 2. Mr Gibson-Burrell's bail was extended and he will return to court on that date.
