Sziget Festival adds 50 new artists to 2025 lineup
Held on the 'Island of Freedom' in Budapest, Hungary, Sziget offers festival-goers a vibrant and eclectic programme featuring dedicated spaces for music, theatre, cabaret and art.
This year's festival stars six huge headliners, Chappell Roan, A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX, Anyma, Post Malone and Shawn Mendes.
Other major artists on the staggering lineup include French electronic legends Justice, Belfast rap trio Kneecap, Stockport rock band Blossoms, The Last Dinner Party, Fat Dog, Empire of the Sun, Nelly Furtado, The Dare and Krept & Konan.
Charli XCX will perform as part of the continuation of her culture-defining Brat tour, in support of her critically adored hit album of the same name.
Meanwhile, Chappell Roan is undoubtedly one of the biggest breakthrough pop artists in years, thanks to her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and her triumph at the 2025 Grammys as Best New Artist, not to mention her latest single, the country-influenced queer anthem 'The Giver'.
New additions for the 2025 event, which takes place between 6 to 11 August, include the Delta District, offering live music arenas and intimate club spaces, an open-air amphitheatre and the Bolt Night Stage.
The Independent is teaming up with Sziget, one of Europe's biggest festivals, as its exclusive international news partner of 2025.

Some, we're shocked we missed out from our list (Two Soups with Julie Walters – of course!) others, well, if we're being pedantic, they're not from sketch shows (Del Boy falling through the bar), but we can't deny they're perfect distillations of TV humour. The best Monty Python sketches Dead Parrot is well-known but I wouldn't put it in the top 10 even of Python sketches. Rosemary Wildish 'Waitress' by Victoria Wood, which most people call 'two soups', with Dame Julie Walters in the eponymous role is hilarious. Vicki Lester Guide Cat (Hale and Pace, 1989) I vote for Hale and Pace, The Guide Cat. Denise Henderson-Cleland 10 Pound Note (Dave Allen, 1972) One sketch by Dave Allen always receives uncontrolled laughter by non-English speakers. I can't remember the name, but it's the one where Allen and about 20 other people are waiting in a cafe for a vehicle owner to return to a car which has a 10 pound note trapped under one wheel. Excellent! Brit In Exile Working Class Playwright (Monty Python, 1969) Morecambe and Wise with 'Andrew Preview' should be at number one, but one of my personal favourites is the Monty Python parody of the 'Working Class Playwright with the Coal Miner Son'. A hilarious parody. Coming from near Barnsley, and a child of the 50 and 60s it never ceases to make me laugh. Trish Beech The Evil Voice (That Mitchell and Webb Look, 2009) No Mitchell and Webb? The Evil Voice sketch is a work of observational genius. David Harris The Breakfast Sketch (Morecambe and Wise, 1976) Morecambe and Wise cooking eggs, one of the funniest sketches ever made. Almost anything with Dave Allen. Helen Walshe Del Boy falls through the Bar (Only Fools and Horses, 1989) Where is the Only Fools And Horses sketch where Del Boy falls through the bar counter that isn't there? Ian Breach Dame Shirley Bassey performs Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (Morecambe and Wise, 1971) Never tire of Shirley Bassey singing Smoke Gets in Your Eye on Morecambe and Wise. Amazing how she got through it without laughing. Chris Dodson The School Master (1979) Rowan Atkinson's schoolteacher taking the register? Dibble? Ponsonby Minor? Scottish ostrich egg used to crack world record for biggest Scotch egg
An ostrich egg from a Scottish farm has been used to break the record for the biggest Scotch egg ever made. Social media chefs Phoenix Ross and Oli Paterson have been recognised for smashing the 20-year-old Guinness World Record. Isla French, co-owner of Little Rowater Farm in Banff in Aberdeenshire, said she was 'amazed' to discover one of her ostrich eggs was used. 'I appreciate good food and just love to see something from my farm be used for a Guinness World Record,' she told STV News. The chefs, from Enfield in England, bought five eggs from the farm – three of which were used in their attempt to break the record on June 17. Phoenix said he has 'wanted to break a world record since he was a kid.' Oliver told STV News: 'We looked at a few world records, and burrito was unbeatable at 2.4km long, and sausage roll was 111m. 'When we found 6.2kg scotch egg, we knew it was the one.' After one failed attempt, the duo succeeded in breaking the record with a fully intact scotch egg weighing almost 8kg – more than a bowling ball. The previous record was 6kg and stood for almost 20 years. The Scotch egg was made by being wrapped in sausage meat then covered in bread crumbs and deep fried before being put in an oven. The whole process took over 24 hours. Oliver said: 'It feels great to break the record, now 'were fingers crossed for getting in the book and setting our sights on new records.' Guinness World Record Isla French, 37, said she was stunned to learn her farm produce had played a part. 'When I sell these eggs, I never have an idea of where they go or what people do with them – this is a nice surprise,' Isla said. 'Someone's taken something from my little and got a Guinness World Record, it's just wow.' Isla French and her husband George, 42, started their family farm over ten years ago and have had an enclosure for ostriches from almost the start. They sells each egg, which weighs up to 1.8kg and contains 1.2 litres of contents, for £25. Each egg is the equivalent of 24 hen eggs. Isla French Isla said she and her family use eggs for omelettes, pancakes and baking as well as make huge fried eggs. 'We're a family farm and when our children are asked where eggs come from, they say ostriches. 'To them, that's normal.' However, she has never seen anything as 'inspiring' or as 'clever' as the ambition to make a Scotch egg with it. The French family had previously appeared on the BBC series This Farming Life. Isla French The ostrich egg holds the record for the largest egg produced by any living bird. The average example measures 6–8 in (15–20 cm) in length, 4–6 in (10–15 cm) in diameter and weighs 3 lb 10 oz–3 lb 14 oz (1.65–1.78 kg) – equal to the volume of 24 hen's eggs. It also holds the record for toughest egg produced by a bird – it can withstand the weight of a 115-kg (253-lb 8-oz) person and often having to be cracked open with a hammer. Ostrich themselves are the world's largest bird and can reach speed of up to 70km an hour. They can also live up to 75 years in captivity.
