Nitesh Tiwari Spent 10 Years On Ramayana Script, Studied Yoga Shastra And Consulted Pandits: Report
Nitesh Tiwari spent a decade researching and scripting his epic Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Nitesh Tiwari, known for films like Dangal and Chhichhore, has been quietly working for ten years on his epic retelling of the Ramayana. Every line, scene and dialogue has been meticulously crafted since 2015. According to a report in TOI, Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra spent years studying the Vashisht Yoga Shastras and consulting with pandits to weave spiritual wisdom into a story that speaks to today. The idea is to make the emotional journey of Ram relatable while honouring its ancient roots. The cast is star-studded. Ranbir Kapoor takes on Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash is Ravana, Ravi Dubey becomes Lakshman, and Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman. Supporting cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil and Sheeba Chadha. Their vision was unveiled in a teaser that paired glimpses of Ranbir and Yash with a powerful score by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman — marking what may be Indian cinema's most ambitious East-meets-West collaboration. Filming began only after the script felt ready. Tech rehearsals were held in Los Angeles in 2024, while elaborate sets—over a dozen of them—were built back in India. Many have now been dismantled to make way for post‑production. The film also brings in co-director Ravi Udyawar and VFX by DNEG, the Oscar‑winning studio behind Inception and Interstellar. Tiwari's Ramayana will arrive in two parts—first in Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. The first instalment will explore Ram and Sita's early lives, their exile and Hanuman's entry. The second will focus on Ravana and the epic final battle. Ranbir Kapoor has locked Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 for Ramayana Part 1 and Ramayana Part 2. The film's first poster has been released along with the release date. Ranbir plays the role of Lord Ram. The two-part films are directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The release date was confirmed by Prime Focus Studios' Namit Malhotra. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Who wrote 'Brown Rang'? Badshah rekindles feud with Honey Singh using just one word
Indian rapper Badshah has reignited a long-standing feud in the country's hip-hop scene, asserting authorship over the widely celebrated 2011 hit Brown Rang , popularly credited to Yo Yo Honey Singh . The spark? A cryptic yet loaded one-word reply—"Credits"—in response to a fan post on social media. The post, which showcased Honey Singh's dramatic physical transformation, jokingly questioned what he had eaten. Badshah's sharp reply not only broke the internet but also reopened the lid on one of Indian rap's most iconic but fractured partnerships. The exchange turned increasingly pointed when another user claimed Singh had written Brown Rang. Badshah clapped back, saying, 'Tere support ke liye nahi kar raha main ye,' firmly denying that his revelations were for public sympathy or attention. According to his account, Honey Singh had invited him to mix a track. Singh had the beat ready, but the lyrics, Badshah claims, were 'weird.' Seizing the opportunity, he rewrote the entire song—lyrics that would soon become one of the most memorable tracks in desi hip-hop history. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this game for 1 minute and see why everyone is addicted. Interestingly, Brown Rang wasn't the only hit Badshah says he ghostwrote. He also claims authorship of the rap segment in Angrezi Beat , another Honey Singh anthem. Where It All Began Before they were rivals, Badshah and Honey Singh were bandmates in the hip-hop collective Mafia Mundeer—a group that also included Raftaar, Ikka, and Lil Golu. The early 2010s saw them dominate the underground circuit with hits like Khol Botal, Begani Naar Buri, and Delhi Ke Deewane. But what began as musical brotherhood soon turned sour. Rapper shares the diet strategy he followed Disputes over creative credits, control, and alleged unfair contract practices led to the group's dissolution. Badshah has not minced words in past interviews, calling Honey Singh 'self-centred' and accusing him of making fellow artists sign blank contracts. Old Grudges in New Reels In a surprising twist earlier this year, Badshah attempted to bury the hatchet during a live concert in Dehradun. Referring to Singh, he told the crowd, 'He's a grudge I want to leave behind.' The sentiment, though brief, gave fans hope for reconciliation. But his latest comments suggest the wounds haven't healed. While Badshah insists his statements aren't made for applause, the digital stage has become a new battleground—where every 'like,' share, or repost amplifies a decade-old rift. Rajinikanth's fan recreates the superstar's iconic moment Taking to her social media handle, Ramya Raman said, 'Bought new car. Took it to Thalaivar home. I kept the keys close to the magical name that has always inspired me to think beyond. And the car number is 5004... yes Thalaivars first car number.' 'Foreign car eduthutu... ithe kodambakkam roadla moment... endrum Thalaivar Vazhiyil (Taking my foreign car and the Kodambakkam road moment. Always in Thalaivar's path). And took delivery from the same person who gave X7 delivery to Thalaivar, shamelessly asked them. Inspired, blessed,' she added. See the fan's post with pictures: When Rajinikanth was insulted by a producer For those unaware, Rajinikanth once recalled an insulting moment in his life during the Darbar audio launch. Speaking at the event, the superstar narrated how he was offered a positive character in another actor's movie, and a remuneration of Rs 6000 was finalized. The actor who wasn't a superstar at that time agreed to the salary and asked for Rs 100 or 200 as an advance. However, the producer refrained from paying the amount and assured it would be given to him on the day of shoot. On the first day of shoot, Rajinkanth was asked to put on his makeup, but refused to apply it until an advance was paid. The actor said, 'The production manager told me that the hero had arrived and asked me to sit for makeup. I refused. I told him that I wouldn't proceed without getting Rs 1000.' Knowing this, the producer became furious and insulted Rajinikanth, refusing to give him a role in the movie and making the actor walk home all by himself. The superstar added, 'That was when I realized that if I do not come back to AVM Studios in a foreign car, then I am not Rajinikanth.' Concluding his words of motivation, the Coolie actor revealed how he fulfilled the promise to himself, appearing at the same AVM Studios in his Italian Fiat with the numberplate 5004, smoking a cigarette and looking regal.
