Robert Kraft reveals why Patriots left Gronk dent in Super Bowl trophy
When appearing at Fenway Park, Gronkowski and former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman were playing around with one of the trophies. Edelman pitched a baseball, and Gronkowski picked up a trophy and used it as a bat to hit the ball, leaving a permanent dent in the trophy.
Kraft could have had the trophy fixed, but he decided to leave the dent as a way of keeping Gronkowski's memory alive.
"We're at Fenway Park throwing out the first pitch. I invited the team, and we go out with six trophies," Kraft said on the Dudes on Dudes podcast. "Right before, underneath the Green Monster, these guys are fooling around. Julian's throwing fast balls. Our boy Gronk picks up one of the trophies and hits it, and there's a permanent ball mark. If it was only one or two, I would have fixed it. But I thought we're going to have Gronk's memory for the history of the Patriots. I said we're leaving it."
The dent is the perfect homage to the greatest tight end in NFL history and one of the NFL's all-time great personalities. That sixth Super Bowl trophy will always come with the story of Gronkowski using it as a bat to hit an Edelman fast ball.
It's a fun and fitting end to one of the greatest dynasties in sports history.

Lane Johnson selected the NFL's No. 1 offensive tackle by the AP
Lane Johnson didn't allow a sack in 2024, anchoring one of the NFL's best offensive line units and helping the Philadelphia Eagles win their second Super Bowl. The six-time Pro Bowl pick and two-time All-Pro was selected the No. 1 offensive tackle in a preseason survey by The Associated Press. A panel of eight AP Pro Football Writers ranked the top five players at the position, basing selections on current status entering the 2025 season. First-place votes were worth 10 points. Second through fifth-place votes were worth 5, 3, 2 and 1 points. Johnson, who plays right tackle, received three first-place votes and four thirds. Teammate Jordan Mailata, who plays the left side, also got three first-place votes. Penei Sewell and Trent Williams also received one first apiece. Mailata finished second and Tristan Wirfs came in third, followed by Sewell and Williams. Rashawn Slater, Laremy Tunsil and Dion Dawkins also received votes. 1. LANE JOHNSON, Philadelphia Eagles Johnson has established himself as one of the greatest right tackles in NFL history since the Eagles selected him No. 4 overall in the 2013 draft. Johnson helped pave the way for Saquon Barkley's record-setting rushing season and protected Jalen Hurts. He's been a dominant force on the right side and a valuable team leader for Philadelphia. 2. JORDAN MAILATA, Philadelphia Eagles Mailata had never played American football before the Eagles drafted the Australian rugby star in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. Under offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland's guidance, he's become one of the best in the game. A Pro Bowl snub in 2024, Mailata earned second-team All-Pro honors. He got one second-place vote, one third and one fifth to go with the three firsts. 3. TRISTAN WIRFS, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wirfs, who switched from right tackle to left in 2023, became the first player selected an All-Pro at both tackle spots. He made it at right tackle in 2021 and earned the spot on the left side last year. Wirfs was the anchor of an offensive line that helped Tampa Bay finish fourth in rushing last season. He got five second-place votes, two thirds and one fifth. 4. PENEI SEWELL, Detroit Lions Sewell beat out Johnson for first-team All-Pro last season despite a down year as a pass blocker. He excelled as a run protector but allowed pressure on 4.7% of pass plays, per Pro Football Focus. Sewell, who moved from left tackle to the right side a few years ago, is a three-time Pro Bowl pick and two-time All-Pro. He got two second-place votes, four fourths and one fifth along with the one first. 5. TRENT WILLIAMS, San Francisco 49ers Williams is coming off an injury-plagued season but remains one of the best left tackles in the NFL. He's an 11-time Pro Bowl pick and was an All-Pro three straight seasons before missing seven games last year. He received one third-place vote, two fourths and one fifth to go with his one first. ___ AP NFL:

Micah Parsons questions contract standoff with Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons doesn't know why his contract extension is taking so long to negotiate, either. In an appearance on former WWE wrestler The Undertaker's podcast, Six Feet Under, Parsons said he didn't understand the reason for the delays in getting an extension done. The four-time Pro Bowler is set to enter his fifth season playing on the fifth-year option year of his original rookie contract, meaning he's been eligible to sign an extension since last offseason. "Obviously, ownership's always going to make it drag out, make it more complicated than it has to be, lack of communication, that standpoint," the two-time All-Pro said. NFL CONTRACT UPDATES: Latest news on Micah Parsons, Lamar Jackson, T.J. Watt extensions Parsons said that he and his team were rebuffed last year as they tried to get an extension done early. Instead, the Cowboys told them the focus was on reaching extensions with quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. (Prescott and Lamb eventually signed respective four-year extensions within two weeks of each other prior to the start of the 2024 regular season.) Then as the post-2024 offseason began, the Cowboys continued to wait on reaching a deal with Parsons. Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby and the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a huge extension. Then, Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns reached a megadeal of their own. "I will never understand it," Parsons said. "We wanted to do the contract last year – then you go out there and perform again. You would think, 'Alright, we'll get it done early, we know some guys are about to get re-paid.' There's Myles [Garrett], Maxx [Crosby] is going, so you would think, 'Hey, let's get ahead of that.' "You can't want us to take less (now) because you're the one that decided to wait." As other teams decide on similar situations with their star edge rushers – the Steelers with T.J. Watt; the Bengals with Trey Hendrickson – the Cowboys have a chance to get a deal done with Parsons before those players' deals further inflate the edge-rusher market. For now, all Parsons can do is wait for his big payday, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from. Bears agree to terms with second-rounder Ozzy Trapilo
It took a while to get the ball rolling, but the 2025 second-round picks are starting to sign with their NFL teams. According to multiple reports, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo has agreed to terms with the Bears. He joins Shemar Turner in getting his four-year rookie deal done in Chicago. Wide receiver Luther Burden was the other Bears second-rounder this year and he remains unsigned. Albert Breer of reports that Trapilo, who was the 56th overall pick, got the first two years of the contract fully guaranteed along with 72 percent of the third season. The size of the guarantees in second-round pacts became the holdup after the top two picks in the round had their deals fully guaranteed. Trapilo started at right tackle for Boston College the last two years and also had experience playing on the left side of the line.
