Smith has already been ruled out of the World Matchplay
And it threatens to see him also miss the World Grand Prix and European Championship.
Smith has arthritis in his throwing hand, problems with his foot and ankle as well as an ongoing shoulder injury.
Darting Promotions said in a statement: "We have become aware over the last few days of reports/comments on social media regarding Michael and his participation in events in the near future.

"Ourselves and Michael would like to provide a short update on the injuries which have been affecting him in recent months and assure fans that he will be back fully fit very soon.
"As you are all aware Michael has been suffering with arthritis in his right hand for a while and has recently developed a problem with his left foot/ankle.
"After recent blood tests this has revealed certain answers and we are now hopeful that with a course of medication these problems can be controlled in the future.
"As you will have seen Michael has withdrawn from this week's events in Germany, this is due to him requiring a scan on his shoulder which was damaged at Christmas time.

"This has been arranged for this week which unfortunately means he is unable to take part in the upcoming Pro Tours and European Tour qualifiers.
"We feel this is now the right time to hopefully resolve the above issues and allow Michael to get back to his best and be back playing the way we all know he can."

Smith, 34, revealed in January that he has had arthritis issues since he was a teenager.
He said: "Feel like this is needed to be said as I'm annoyed seeing I'm finished or what's happening it's this or that.

"The last 6 weeks I've had a grade 2 AC shoulder injury and seeking physio every 2/3 days to help that but for 3/4 years I've been fighting something else.
"I broke both my wrists when I was 19 and now it's catching up with me and now suffering with arthritis to my right hand.
"This isn't sympathy or a cry for help. This is letting you all in to it. I've never give up or stopped from any pain.
"I played a world final with a broken hand. I made a UK Open final with a hole in my groin. I've won Pro Tours and Euros with problems with my ankle.

"What this statement means is this is me opening up and letting you all know.
"I didn't say earlier as I was scared of losing the Premier League or losing World Series but I wasn't picked anyway so why not now.
"I see the specialist Monday and when I know you will know what will happen over the next month or so.
"I'll never let anything beat me and I promise I'll be back very VERY quickly."

Grand National-winning trainer makes big announcement with jockey's son

Scotland's most triumphant jumps stable is set to see a new name adorning its front door, as Grand National-winning trainer Lucinda Russell has announced an exciting training partnership. Russell is among the select few active trainers who have twice claimed victory in the Grand National, with wins from One For Arthur in 2017 and Corach Rambler in 2023. Since obtaining her licence in 1995, she has led over 1,000 winners, including a significant triumph in the 2021 Scottish Grand National with Mighty Thunder and securing her fourth Cheltenham Festival success with Myretown in the Ultima Handicap Chase this past March. Russell has achieved the top honours in tandem with her partner Peter Scudamore, the eight-time champion jumps jockey, and for the last two seasons Peter's son Michael has worked as assistant trainer. Michael Scudamore moved to Scotland after training on his own for 16 years during which he won the 2013 Welsh Grand National with Monbeg Dude, co-owned by former England rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall, and enjoyed Cheltenham Festival success with Next Sensation in the 2015 Grand Annual Chase. "The long-term plan has always been for Michael and myself to become joint trainers and it represents an exciting development for the stable as we look forward to the 2025/26 jumps season," said Russell. ''In his two years as assistant trainer Michael has been able to embed himself into his role within the team and fully acquaint himself with our training methods which utilise the outstanding natural resources of the Perthshire countryside. ''Apart from the names on the licence, nothing will change but the effects of having Michael on board in a leadership role are already evident. ''The size of our stable has increased by 20 per cent since he arrived in Scotland. We have built more stables and will have around 160 horses in training by the time the jumps season fully kicks into gear. ''Being able to share responsibility for the operational running of the stable has also allowed me to concentrate more time on arguably the most important part of training, sourcing new horses. That has seen the quality of horses we are able to train continue to improve thanks to the support of our owners.'' Michael said: ''I am really excited to be joining Lucinda as joint trainer. The Russell stable has been one of the most successful in the country over the last two years and this move reflects our ambitions to reach even greater heights. ''Any trainer will tell you that when you move into a new stable it takes time to get used to the gallops and the environment around you. ''The last two years have been a great learning experience. I now feel I am fully integrated into a very experienced team in which everyone knows their roles. We have had some great results and everyone is eager to further build on that success.''

Sky Sports pundits Michael Bridge and Chris Murphy took aim at Wade for his actions in Blackpool. Bridge said: 'I got it clarified that there were no issues with Luke or the crowd or anything like that. 'He was just angry at himself, which is fine, but we would have liked to have heard from him.' 'Whether he does an interview or not is up to him, but not to be there when Luke is receiving the trophy, that is disrespectful. 'Just stand there for a minute and applaud, and then say, 'I don't want to talk.' 'There's a serious side with James of course. 'But I think he maybe needs a little bit of guidance and support with that. 'If he's not up to doing a press conference straight after a match, maybe he should be approaching the PDC and asking about facilitating his press conference when he returns for the next round in a better frame of mind.'
