A commuter on the London Underground was appalled after he offered his seat to a pregnant woman, only to have it snatched away by another man. The rush for seats during peak hours is nothing new, but many commuters still follow the unwritten rule of offering their spot to the elderly, those with disabilities, or expectant mothers.
Public transport vehicles often boast priority seating for these people. A Reddit user recounted an incident on the London Underground while travelling from Stanmore on the Jubilee line. He shared: "This morning [I] was heading into London on the Jubilee line from Stanmore. After a few stops I saw a pregnant woman get on and the people in the priority seats just ignored her so I offered her mine."
The poster's account took a turn for the worse as he detailed: "As soon as I stood up a man pushed her away and took the seat I had just vacated.
"It was bad enough seeing people not give up priority seats but then to see that and he just sat there obstinately as I told him it was for a pregnant woman."
More than 600 comments poured in on Reddit, including responses from the very pregnant woman involved and her partner.
She remarked: "Firstly, to the kind man who offered your seat, thank you so much for doing the right thing and I think we were both gobsmacked by this other man's behaviour."
The expectant mother then elaborated on the incident: "To clarify the situation, I got on the tube this morning and since I am 8 months pregnant I usually ask for a seat if someone isn't offering it, since I know people can be in their own world or on their phones.
"However, this morning, I didn't have to as this kind man stood up and then this other 2 meter tall, well built man pushed in front of me to grab the seat.
"I said 'excuse me, I think this seat was meant for me' and the kind man said the same thing. He just looked us both in the eye, didn't say anything but remained seated.
"The kind man said 'I can't believe you just took a pregnant woman's seat' but nothing from him, he shortly after pretended to sleep, probably not to face the looks of the rest of the carriage."
She added that fortunately, another passenger soon offered her a priority seat, but she "didn't want to kick up more of a fuss" by taking it.
In conclusion, she stated: "I would have understood if he also had a disability but he had clearly been capable to stand until that point, didn't wear a badge or say anything in his defence.
"I think he was just lazy and rude. My main thought was: I wonder what his mom would have said if she saw his behaviour.."
Her partner also weighed in on the post, adding: "So this was my wife! Thank you op for noticing as not many do. Thanks to the other person who stood up to give her a seat. To the guy that just ignored my wife you're an a******!".
The man's conduct sparked outrage among others. One user said: "That's absolutely ridiculous. I would have shamed him loudly in front of everyone."
Someone else highlighted: "The irony of working in health support and doing that... unreal. Hope karma catches him fast."
Another suggested: "Contact his work company and shame him. Even if they do nothing, at least you've done what you can. What a t*****."

Oasis full setlist 'confirmed' two days before Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite

Cardiff has already had a sneak peek of what's in store when Oasis take to the stage for the first time in over a decade this Friday. The iconic Britpop band are mere days away from one of the most monumental reunions in music history as the feuding Liam and Noel Gallagher finally make peace. The band has already made waves with their sell-out tour, set to commence their global journey later this week. Oasis have touched down in Cardiff to add the final touches, and nearby fans report having heard the full setlist during rehearsals. Earlier this week, locals near the stadium were treated to the sound of Cigarettes and Alcohol echoing from the venue. Hits like Some Might Say and F****n' In The Bushes were also heard blaring out across the Welsh capital. According to a fan on Reddit, Oasis are planning a hefty 24-song setlist. The Reddit user shared the rehearsal setlist, providing fans with a hint of what might be performed at the live shows. They revealed that the setlist begins with an intro of F****n' in the Bushes, followed by Hello, Acquiesce, Morning Glory, and then Some Might Say, reports the Mirror. Cigarettes and Alcohol is up next, followed by Fade Away, Supersonic, Roll With It, and Bring It On Down. It's rumoured that Noel will perform Talk Tonight, Half the World Away, and Little By Little. The group is rumoured to then kick into 'D'you Know What I Mean?', followed by bangers like 'Stand By Me', 'Cast No Shadow', 'Slide Away', 'Whatever', 'Live Forever', 'Rock 'n' Roll Star'. It's said that Noel will take the lead on 'The Masterplan' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger', before the lads wrap up with a smashing finale featuring 'Wonderwall' and 'Champagne Supernova'. The buzz around the speculated setlist has got fans talking, with many expressing their gutted feelings about the absence of the classic 'Columbia'. One fan expressed: "Crazy there's no Columbia but little by little got my stoked." Another added: "No Columbia?" And another fan pointed out: "I need to convince one of them of Columbia's importance." (Image: Rowan Griffiths / Daily Mirror) Oasis have already confirmed stage times for their Cardiff gigs, revealing that doors will open at 5pm, with the first support act Cast getting the crowd going at 6pm. Then, The Verve's main man and friend of the Gallaghers, Richard Ashcroft, is set to entertain at 7pm. Oasis are all set for their epic return to the stage at 8:15pm, promising a show-stopping performance lasting just over two hours, before they bring down the curtain for a 10:30pm curfew. The band got back together a few months ago, making sure they're in tip-top shape for their live performances. The first snaps of the band stepping out from rehearsals in London emerged in May. Noel, along with his Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell - who will be on guitar duty at the massive sold-out shows, with Andy on bass - was spotted, followed by Liam's entrance on June 3 after a brief vocal rest. The band has also welcomed new faces with Christian Madden on keyboards and Joey Waronker, who's toured with Liam before but is new to Oasis, on drums. Discussing the eagerly anticipated gigs, an insider revealed: "With a new line-up and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again. "But there is no time for that, and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. This is such a huge comeback show, and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour." The much-talked-about reunion between Noel and Liam this Friday marks their first public gathering since the iconic Oasis went their separate ways nearly two decades past. After Noel walked out on Oasis on August 28, 2009, he declared he could no longer bear working with Liam a moment more, and the siblings have been lobbing verbal grenades at each other across the media for years on end. Tickets for the Oasis reunion sold out across all venues due to huge demand when they went online earlier in the year. However, there are still several options available for fans trying to snag a last-minute spot. Limited last-minute tickets can be bought from the official Ticketmaster resale site, where fans who can no longer go sell their seats, although these tend to go into and out of stock quickly. Elsewhere, resale sites like Viagogo, Vivid Seats, StubHub and Twickets are selling tickets for various dates, although fans should always bear in mind that many official sites, such as Ticketmaster and Live Nation, discourage the purchase of resale tickets. Meanwhile Seat Unique has some VIP tickets available offering a host of additional perks alongside access to the gig. National Lottery player spends £340 on Scratchcards but winnings floor people

A National Lottery player who spent a whopping £340 on Scratchcards was left floored by the amount of money they managed to win, with people now asking all sorts of questions Sometimes people fancy conducting experiments, but doing so with money can be a dodgy game. That's precisely what one National Lottery punter discovered when they splashed out £340 on Scratchcards, leaving them rather taken aback by their winnings. The tale was recently shared on Reddit, where a social media user posted: "Customer had €400 (£343.58) worth of €20 (£17.18) Scratchcards. Guess how much they won?" Naturally, people were quick to have a punt at guessing, fascinated by how much dosh they could potentially pocket. ‌ The player, thought to have had a flutter in Ireland, took their chances to see what would unfold. Having a guess at what they'd scoop, one person responded: "I'm going to go ahead and guess 180." ‌ Another piped up with: "My son did his math continuous assessment on the returns of winning the Lotto (from three numbers to six numbers) vs saving the same amount of money spent. "Turned out s*** because the odds of winning the Lotto was so low, he couldn't get a decent graph out of it for a comparison, nice lesson learnt early though." A third chimed in with: "Not surprised. I'm quitting the things. There's actually videos on Youtube of guys scratching 100s of cards and getting a return of 20% of their outlay." Meanwhile, a fourth also remarked: "Got one in a birthday card a while back and won €4. Was in the Post Office to cash it and the woman behind the counter remarked 'we never see any winners on these things'." After forking out hundreds on Scratchcards, the individual was left in the red. The social media user lamented: "They got €180 out of them. Crazy." ‌ This unfortunate outcome meant they were down by €220, making it a less than lucrative endeavour. It prompted others to share their experiences and question whether anyone actually wins big with Scratchcards. Another person commented: "When I looked at the odds of winning these, I never bought one again." Someone else joined the conversation with a more positive tale: "My brother won €30k in one he got for his birthday. Couldn't believe it." ‌ An additional comment came from someone who observed: "I find that you're more likely to win something on the cheaper Scratchcards than on the more expensive ones. There was a time where I got €200 on a €2 Scratchcard and €150 on another (seriously). Up €346 on those two Scratchcards. This person's down €220." Statistics suggest that the chances of winning on a £5 Scratchcard game are roughly one in four, which includes cards that simply allow you to break even by winning £5. The likelihood of winning varies across different games, and players can usually find the specific odds printed on the back of each card. As per the National Lottery website, there is now a cap on buying Scratchcards – customers can only purchase up to 10 in a single transaction. This restriction applies across all shops offering The National Lottery games. If you're worried about how gambling makes you or someone else feel, visit GambleAware for help and support.
