Stampin Resettlement Scheme recreation park set for further upgrades

KUCHING (May 16): The recreation park at Lorong 2, Stampin Resettlement Scheme here is set to undergo further upgrading through an allocation of RM100,000.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said the upgrade, funded through his Rural Transformation Project (RTP) allocation, follows the successful completion of an RTP initiative nine months ago at the same park, involving the construction of a futsal court.
'The new allocation of RM100,000 will fund the construction of a new pickleball court, a spectator platform for the futsal court, and the installation of new exercise equipment for park visitors to enjoy,' he said yesterday.
'The addition of a pickleball court, improved viewing areas, and modern exercise equipment will encourage a healthier and more active lifestyle among residents.'
Yap, who earlier visited the park with Kuching South City Council (MBKS) officers to oversee the implementation of the new project, said he has also requested the council to assist in repainting the surface of the futsal court.
He explained that the court surface has experienced significant wear-and-tear due to over-usage since its completion.
The assemblyman said the approval of RTP projects is part of his efforts to deliver systematic and people-centred development in Kota Sentosa, providing accessible, high-quality public amenities for the local community.

Ngemah rep calls for unity among multi-racial communities

He emphasised that this can be achieved through collaborative programmes such as the 'ngiling bidai' initiative, which involves cooperation between the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and relevant government agencies. 'Like sticks tied together, stronger and not easily broken – that is the symbol of unity that needs to be nurtured and instilled in the community,' said Anyi, as quoted in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report during the ngiling bidai ceremony. Sarawak Muslims urged to continue supporting mosque-based programmes

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and MA63) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali made the call when officiating the closing ceremony of the Festival Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak here today. 'I urge all Muslims, especially in Sarawak, to continue supporting mosque-organised programmes. 'Let us be part of the movement to enliven the House of Allah, making the mosque a point of reference for the community and a centre for welfare and dakwah (Islamic propagation),' she said in her speech. The closing ceremony marked the conclusion of the 10-day festival, organised by Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Masjid Negeri Sarawak (LAKMNS), which began on June 20.
