Circa Sports introduces $15M guaranteed survivor prize pool, the largest legal sports betting contest in U.S. history
It's the biggest guaranteed payout ever for a legal sports betting contest.
Eight winners ended up splitting the final prize pool of $14,266,000 in last season's contest. Circa will also bring back its Circa Millions VII contest, which requires contestants to make five NFL picks against the spread every week and has a prize pool of at least $6 million.
This year, Circa Sports is also introducing a new high-end survivor contest called Circa Grandissimo, which will guarantee $1.5 million as the prize pool and each entry will cost $100,000.
"Along with making history with our existing contests, Circa Grandissimo pays homage to some of the biggest bets in Las Vegas — and this is by far the grandest wager we've ever made on Circa Sports,' Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa Sports, said in a statement.
Sign-ups for the contests begin Thursday and run through Sept. 6.
Each contest requires the contestant to sign up in Nevada, and all weekly entries must be made in person by the contestant in the state or via a proxy.

DeMaurice Smith slams Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones, Aaron Rodgers in new book
DeMaurice "De" Smith hasn't served as the NFL Players Association's executive director for more than two years. But there's clearly no love lost between him and some of the NFL's most important figures. According to Awful Announcing, Smith plans to publish his new book, "Turf Wars," in early August. In it, he slams NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones, former NFL general counsel Jeff Pash and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Smith calls Goodell "a cold, dark void" who "was in the employ of madmen." Jones is characterized as stingy despite his estimated net worth extending into the tens of billions in recent years. Smith writes, "If Jerry Jones saw a dollar bill on the ground, I truly believe he'd stop and pick it up." NFL COLLUSION: In stunning ruling, arbitrator finds NFL encouraged collusion Jones is one of the main names called out in the book, though Smith doesn't let the rest of owners off the hook either. Awful Announcing's report on the early copy of "Turf Wars" includes that its author calls the overall group of NFL owners "a cabal of greedy billionaires." Notably, and despite the general characterization of NFL owners, Patriots owner Robert Kraft receives a nod in the acknowledgements section of Smith's book, according to Awful Announcing. The worst of all top NFL officials, according to Smith, is Pash, who retired in 2024 after 40 years of working with the league. Smith calls Pash "definitely the most unscrupulous. In a corporation filled with ruthless people, Pash has everyone else beat." Awful Announcing reported that the former head of the NFLPA called Rodgers "the god of Cheesehead Nation" and "isolated and dismissive." Writes Smith: "He sat in the back row of the meeting room, issuing loud sighs before standing for a dramatic exit. An incredible quarterback, to be sure, but an even more impressive antagonist." That wasn't all. "In August 2021, my phone chirped with a text from Aaron Rodgers," Smith writes. "'Can you call me?' it read. Could I not run into traffic instead?" Smith's criticism of players didn't stop with Rodgers. Also on the chopping block is Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who Smith calls out for criticizing players that kneeled during the national anthem because it "may be hurting the game and having an effect on revenue." During his tenure, he dealt with the 2011 NFL lockout amid new contract bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations and the "Deflategate" incident from the 2014 AFC championship game. Smith also was the man who filed the initial complaint with arbitrator Christopher Droney that accused NFL owners of collusion. Droney ultimately dismissed the case, though not before noting in a 61-page document that the NFL Management Council "encouraged 32 member Clubs of the NFL to reduce guarantees in future contracts with players at the March 2022 annual meeting." The report ultimately found that NFL owners had not been engaging in collusive conduct, but the document remained under wraps until Pablo Torre unveiled it on his podcast, "Pablo Torre Finds Out" late last month.

NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has issued a strong message to Love. He believes that the Green Bay quarterback will be on the hot seat if he doesn't pick up his level of play. "He's not on the hot seat per se, but he needs to play better in 2025 than he did in 2024," Florio said. "If not, he will be on the hot seat in 2026. The wild card in Green Bay is new CEO Ed Policy, who operates as the de facto owner of the team." That strong warning is warranted. Love is getting paid like a top quarterback in the NFL. He needs to start producing at that level. During the 2024 campaign, Love played in 15 regular season games. He completed 63.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Notre Dame offensive lineman Charles Jagusah breaks arm in UTV accident in Wyoming
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame offensive lineman Charles Jagusah broke his left arm Saturday in a utility task vehicle accident in Wyoming. School officials announced Sunday that Jagusah had surgery to repair his fractured humerus, which is a bone located between the shoulder and elbow. They said the initial prognosis was 'favorable' and that he would return to campus this week for further evaluation and continued care. Advertisement This marks the second consecutive year that Jagusah, one of Notre Dame's most promising offensive linemen, has suffered a major injury before the season. Jagusah was projected to open 2024 as Notre Dame's starting left tackle, but he tore his right pectoral muscle during preseason practice. He came back to play in the Fighting Irish's final three College Football Playoff games. He started at left tackle and played all 63 of the Irish's offensive snaps in their 34-23 title game loss to Ohio State. He primarily played guard in their 27-24 Orange Bowl semifinal victory over Penn State. He was expected to open this season as Notre Dame's starter at right guard.
