Nick Jonas Reveals Daughter Malti's Adorable Reaction Before ‘The Last Five Years' Opening Night

Yahoo07-04-2025
Nick Jonas got a 'singular impression' that his 3-year-old daughter, Malti Marie, is his No. 1 fan as he conquers Broadway.
'OK, so I'm all dressed and ready. I was walking out the door and my daughter, in her Tinkerbell dress, looked at me and said, 'Oh wow, goodbye Prince Charming. Break a leg,'' Jonas, 32, said in a Sunday, April 6, Instagram video, referring to his black pinstripe suit. 'So, I'm cooked.'
Jonas is currently starring as Jamie Wellerstein in the first Broadway production of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years. The theatrical revival, directed by Tony nominee Whitney White, also stars Adrienne Warren. The production's official opening is slated for Sunday evening at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.
'What a way to kick off opening day,' Jonas wrote via his Instagram Stories earlier on Sunday, sharing a handmade poster from his daughter. 'Thank you, MM.'

The poster featured multicolored tape spelling out 'Congrats,' as well as a stencil of Malti's hands, stickers of stars and the skyline of the Big Apple.
The Jonas Brothers singer shares his only child with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, whom he wed in 2018. They welcomed Malti via surrogate in January 2022. After a premature birth and 100-day NICU stay, Malti was finally able to come home with her parents.
"You realize quickly once you have a child that you can't control everything,' Jonas recalled during a November 2023 appearance on the 'Read the Room' podcast. 'I think that was the biggest lesson for me at a stage in my life I didn't expect to learn.'

He added, "You know, we went through a really tough couple of months at the start of her life and you have that vision [of] how it's going to go throughout your whole life, and then it's something completely different. Then, every day from there is completely different and presents its own set of challenges.'
Now that Malti's growing up, Jonas has gotten to see her personality develop — and how his daughter takes after Chopra Jonas, 42.
'It's so encouraging to be around people like that [who don't take themselves too seriously],' Jonas said on the 2023 podcast. 'I'm not talking about self-deprecating stuff, [but] like if you walk into a door, it's funny. It's not like, 'Haha, you're an idiot.' It's like, 'We love you and we all saw it.' I think it's a really lovely quality to have in people. And obviously, my wife embodies that in spades. We're seeing it now manifest in our daughter in a way that is brilliant.'
He gushed, 'Her sense of humor and her ability to laugh at situations, and even her mischievous attitude, it's great.'

See Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. Stun in Rare Red Carpet Moment

and Freddie Prinze Jr. stepped out for a rare public date night. The longtime couple are known for projects like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and She's All That, but folks may have forgotten they first met on the set of the 1997 cult film I Know What You Did Last Summer. Even though the duo (who married in 2002 and share daughter Charlotte and son Rocky) don't often display their love for the public, they had to make an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere for the 2025 movie reboot of the same name on July 14. Dressing in color-coordinated looks for the event, Sarah and Freddie (who is reprising his role as Ray Bronson in the 2025 I Know What You Did Last Summer film) had fans screaming when they turned up for the carpet. As they posed for the cameras, they looked just as in love as when they first got together years ago. And if that's not enough, Sarah even got in on a joint Instagram post comparing the couple attending both movie premieres, just 28 years apart. "History repeating itself!" the caption read. "Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. at the I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER premiere in 1997 and again in 2025." When fans caught Sarah and Freddie's rare public display of affection online, they all bombarded them over how much they still love the two years later. "They seem like the real deal. They both look even better than they did back then," one person wrote in the comments. "... And they are still going strong ❤️," another declared. "Favorite couple EVER 🥰🙌❤️," a different follower replied. Even though Sarah isn't making a reappearance as Helen Shivers in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Freddie was ecstatic to be able to step into Ray's shoes once again. "You have no idea what's changed, what's the same," he told People in July 2025. "You're excited to show what you think you're better at, you know what I mean? You hope they notice it. It was all those things." We love this for them! You Might Also Like 67 Best Gifts for Women That'll Make Her Smile The Best Pillows for Every Type of Sleeper Solve the daily Crossword

Steve Miller Band cancels 2025 tour before it even began: ‘Blame it on the weather'

The Steve Miller Band has pulled the plug on its 2025 tour a month before it was set to kick off. Why? In the band's words: 'Blame it on the weather.' The California rock group announced Wednesday that it has called off the remainder of its 2025 tour, including several shows in New York and concerts in Southern California, citing several extreme weather conditions. 'The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires makes these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable,' the 'Fly Like an Eagle' group said in a statement shared on its social media pages. The Steve Miller Band announced its tour in March. In May, the group revealed that the slate of live shows would take its members across North America, starting with the East Coast in August. Shows in San Diego, Inglewood and Anaheim were set for November. While the announcement comes amid climate crises, including the fatal floods in the Northeast and Texas, the band did not specify which areas or weather events posed a risk to its tour plans. Wednesday's statement also left the possibility of future live performances pretty open-ended: 'Don't know where, don't know hope to see you all again.' Though the group concluded its statement by wishing fans 'peace, love and happiness,' it was met with division in the comments section. On Instagram, several followers said that they understood the rock band's decision to call off the tour, while others wrote that they found the justification 'odd' and speculated on reasons for the abrupt cancellation. A representative for the rock group did not immediately respond to The Times' request for additional information. Just a day before its sudden announcement, the group continued to promote the tour on social media. On Tuesday, the band's X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram pages published a photo of Miller, 81, receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1987. 'Catch him and the band on tour starting next month,' said the caption accompanying the photo. The post at the time directed followers to the band's website to purchase tickets. Fans visiting the website are now met with the cancellation notice. The Steve Miller Band was founded in the 1960s and is led by its namesake Grammy-winning vocalist and guitarist. It is also known for songs such as 'Jungle Love,' 'Abracadabra,' 'Take the Money and Run' and 'Space Cowboy.'
