HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy Friday exuded confidence Congress would win 15 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana in the 2029 general elections. This, he said, will boost the party's chances of forming the govt at the Centre.
Revanth also said Congress would win 100 assembly seats in the state in the next election.
Addressing the Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri meeting of the party workers at LB Stadium in the city, which was attended by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Revanth said: "Take our message to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka. Tell them we will give 15 Lok Sabha seats in 2029. I assured Sonia Gandhi to bring Congress to power in Telangana at a public meeting in Ranga Reddy on September 17, 2023.
We did it."

Four years before the Lok Sabha elections, I am assuring of party's victory in 15 LS and 100 assembly seats. You can question me if we fail to win even one seat less than the figures I have quoted,"Revanth said.
He told the grassroots of the party that it is now their turn to contest elections. "I will ensure your win in sarpanch, ward member, MPTC, ZPTC, and MPP polls. You don't need to go to Delhi or ask us for tickets.

Talk about the 60,000 govt job recruitments. Counter the opposition parties vicious campaign aggressively on social media."
Delimitation exercise
Allaying fears of some leaders of not getting party ticket to contest next assembly or LS polls since some MLAs of other parties have joined the Congress, Revanth said, "delimitation will increase the number of assembly seats in Telangana from 119 to, maybe, 153.
Likewise, LS seats will also increase. Probably, there could be 80 more seats available including that of assembly, Lok Sabha, and legislative council. Then 50% of the seats could be reserved for women.
"
"All of you will get recognition for your hard work and get a chance to contest the elections, become MLA, MP, and ministers. There could be five to six women ministers in the cabinet then," Revanth said. The chief minister also promised to fill up all posts of various corporations, temple, market, and other committees.
AICC minder of Telangana party affairs, Meenakshi Natarajan, is also looking into this issue.
Highlighting the 60,000 recruitments during the first year of the Congress govt in the state, Revanth threw a challenge at PM Narendra Modi, Union minister G Kishan Reddy, former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, and BRS working president KT Rama Rao for a discussion either in Parliament or the assembly.
Revanth said some opposition functionaries protested when canteens were named after Indiramma. "Unless we strip and beat them, they won't understand her greatness."

Motha warns to pull support from BJP govt over ‘unfulfilled' pledges

1 2 Agartala: TIPRA Motha, the junior partner in Tripura's BJP -led govt, has threatened to withdraw its support, accusing BJP of failing to fulfil alliance promises made before the last Lok Sabha elections. TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma criticised the govt for not conducting village council elections despite a high court order and leaving two seats in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) vacant without holding by-elections. Debbarma highlighted the long-pending 125th constitutional amendment bill, which aims to enhance the autonomy and empowerment of the 10 ADCs in the northeast. He said BJP had promised to pass this bill during the 2018 and 2023 assembly elections but has yet to take action. "Why should we stay with the BJP govt?" Debbarma questioned. Kriti Devi Singh Debbarman, sister of TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman and BJP's East Tripura Lok Sabha MP, has also decided to resign in protest against the BJP's unfulfilled promises for tribal development, Debbarma said. While TIPRA Motha's withdrawal would not reduce the govt to a minority, it would weaken its position in tribal areas. The Tripura assembly comprises 60 members, with the BJP holding 33 seats, its ally IPFT one, TIPRA Motha 13, CPM 10 and Congress three seats. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If you have a mouse, play this game for 1 minute Navy Quest Undo Debbarma also pointed out that a tripartite agreement between TIPRA Motha, the Centre, and the state govts included a commitment to form a joint committee to address TIPRA Motha's demands for socio-economic, cultural, educational, and linguistic development. However, meetings have been inconclusive. He further criticised the state govt for not taking effective steps to identify illegal Bangladeshi nationals who entered Tripura after 1971, despite central directives. "The infiltration from across the border has emerged as the biggest threat to the inhabitants of Tripura," Debbarma said. He added, "We shall try to call on Union home minister Amit Shah for the last time around July 20 and formally TIPRA Motha will step away from the govt the next day." Relations between BJP and TIPRA Motha have soured in recent months, with two ministers absent from a recent swearing-in ceremony and forest minister Animesh Debbarma openly urging public action against Bangladeshi migrants.

‘To give you back your freedom': Elon Musk officially launches ‘America Party', targets House, Senate seats

A day after conducting a poll on X whether the United States requires a new political party, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially announced the launch of his 'America Party'. This comes weeks after his falling out with President Donald Trump over his coveted 'Big, Beautiful bill'. Musk, in an announcement on X, stated that he has set up the America Party to challenge the two party system being led by Republicans and Democratic. 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!' he said in a post on X. 'Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,' Musk stated. By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 5, 2025 The announcement by Musk comes after President Trump signed the tax-cut and spending bill into law on Friday, which the Tesla CEO has fiercely opposed and had threatened to form a political party if the bill gets passed from the Congress. The way we're going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 5, 2025 Taking a jibe at both Republicans and Democrats, Musk said 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.' However, it remains unclear whether Musk's America Party has been registered with the US election authorities, and the billionaire entrepreneur has also not provided any detail as to who would lead the party or what form it will take. It was during his public feud with Trump that Musk posted a poll on X asking users whether America requires a new political party. Musk, in the X post, added 'The way we're going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield.' Musk spent close to $280 million in Trump's reelection bid in 2024 and was made to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by the president, focusing on cost-cutting for the federal government. But the two have since fallen out over disagreements about the bill. Trump, earlier this week, threatened to cut off subsidies that Musk's companies receive including Tesla, SpaceX from the federal government.

'AICC tried to revive AJL': Rahul Gandhi's counsel in Herald case

Rahul Gandhi (File photo) NEW DELHI: All India Congress Committee (AICC) was not trying to sell assets of Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the company which published National Herald newspaper, but rather trying to save the institution that was a part of the freedom movement, senior advocate R S Cheema, representing Rahul Gandhi , told a Delhi court Saturday. Cheema made his submissions before the court of special judge Vishal Gogne, which is hearing arguments on the point of cognisance of the chargesheet filed against Sonia Gandhi , Rahul and others in National Herald money laundering case. "In post-Independence period, it (AJL) was never a commercial institution. We (AICC) were trying to retrieve an institution which is part of the freedom movement heritage. The problem was not recovering the loan (given to AJL) but to revive it, to see that it comes back on the rails. AICC was not looking for profit from sales. This is a squinted version," Cheema said. According to ED, Sonia and Rahul, along with others and a private company, Young Indian Pvt Ltd, conspired to launder money by fraudulently usurping AJL's properties valued at over Rs 2,000 crore in exchange for a loan of Rs 90 crore. Cheema said ED's allegations were "crude lies". The senior advocate said ED made unwarranted inferences against Rahul by wrongly assuming that he was the person in-charge of AICC's affairs as its general secretary in 2010. According to the party constitution, AICC has several general secretaries at a point in time, and no one of them could be in-charge of its affairs, Cheema pointed out. The counsel further stated Sonia, then Congress president, was wrongly inferred as person in-charge of AICC when the loan was assigned to AJL. The arguments will continue against other accused, including Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, Sunil Bhandari, Young Indian and Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd, on Monday.
