Actor Vijay Sethupathi found himself at the centre of controversy after explosive tweets from an X user surfaced online, where he was accused of sexual exploitation. Speaking to Subhash K Jha from Deccan Chronicle, Vijay has now categorically denied these allegations and stated that his team has filed a complaint on cybercrime. Vijay Sethupathi has refuted the allegations of casting couch.
What Vijay said
In a statement, Vijay said, 'Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too. This kind of filthy accusation can't upset me. My family and close friends are upset, but I tell them, 'Let it slide. This woman is obviously doing it to be noticed. She has her few minutes of fame, let her enjoy it.''
He went on to add, 'We've complained to cybercrime. I've faced all kinds of whispering campaigns for seven years. Such targeting has not affected me so far. It never will.'
About the controversy
A woman named Ramya Mohan accused the actor on her X account, which has since been deleted. It detailed that a young woman has been undergoing rehabilitation after facing manipulation and exploitation under the guise of industry norms. The post read, '@VijaySethuOffl has offered Rs. 2L for 'caravan favors', Rs. 50k for 'drives' and acts like a saint on social media." Although no names or timelines of the events were specified, the post, concluded with the words, 'It's insane how some insensitive morons are more focused on questioning the source or blaming the victim than actually acknowledging the truth… This was her life, her pain.'
Vijay is a National Award-winning actor who predominantly works in Tamil films. He has also acted in Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, and Katrina Kaif-starrer Merry Christmas. His most recent release was Thalaivan Thalaivii, in which he starred opposite actor Nithya Menen.

Mumbai: The Azad Maidan police in Mumbai arrested four individuals, including three women, for their alleged involvement in a daring robbery and extortion while impersonating as cops. The complainant was duped into believing he was being raided by police officers. The four arrested accused were identified as Amina alias Farah Sajid Khan (41), Fatima Yusuf alias Afsar Khan (40), Sabina Jharnan Qureshi (36), and Rafiq Mahmand Sheikh (40). All four are residents of Shivshahi Colony, Goregaon (East), Mumbai. The accused forced the man to transfer Rs 90,000 online and looted a gold chain worth Rs 3.5 lakh from the victim's residence. The complaint was filed by Nishilkumar Mabja alias Milesh, a South Mumbai resident. He alleged that on July 27, around 6 PM, the prime accused, Farah, along with six unknown women and a male accomplice, barged into his house posing as police officers. Under the pretext of a raid, they assaulted the complainant and demanded Rs 2 lakh, threatening to implicate him in a false case. During the incident, the accused forcibly snatched a gold chain with a locket, weighing around 40 grams and valued at about Rs 3.5 lakh, from the complainant. Additionally, they compelled him to make an online transfer of Rs 90,000 through PhonePe to an account registered in the name of Fatima Yusuf Khan. Preliminary interrogation revealed their direct involvement in the crime. The police said they are looking for two more absconding accomplices. Police emphasised that they are yet to recover the stolen gold chain, and investigations are ongoing to trace the flow of the siphoned amount, which was allegedly transferred to other unknown accounts. The investigating officer informed the court while seeking custody that custodial interrogation is essential to unearth the involvement of other co-accused, recover the stolen property, and verify if the arrested individuals are involved in similar crimes.

Mumbai, Jul 31 (PTI) The probe into the mega Rs 390 crore mephedrone haul by Mumbai police led to seizure of another consignment of the contraband worth Rs 43.97 crore from Powai in the central-eastern part of the metropolis on Thursday, an official said. Mumbai police had seized more than 187 kilograms mephedrone worth Rs 382 crore following a raid in Mysuru in neighbouring Karnataka last week. The The probe into the case began in April this year after a man was held with 52 grams of mephedrone in Sakinaka in western Mumbai, and his interrogation led police to three more persons, from whom 4.53 kilogram mephedrone worth Rs 8 crore was recovered. Eight persons have been arrested in the case so far. 'Based on the interrogation of the arrested accused, a further consignment of 21.9 kilograms of mephedrone worth Rs 43.80 crore was seized from Powai along with chemicals worth Rs 16 lakh used in manufacturing the contraband," the official said. The total haul in the case now stands at more than 210 kilograms of mephedrone worth almost Rs 435 crore, the official informed. Further probe into the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case is underway to unravel the peddling network as well as the supply chain of items used to manufacture mephedrone, he added.
