The film boasts an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta. On its first Wednesday, the film minted Rs 2.25 crore Nett in India, according to sacnilk.com, which takes its total 6-Day collection to Rs 24.50 crore.
Looking at the numbers, Metro… In Dino will cross the Rs 25 crore mark at the domestic box office after its first week.
The figure may appear less when compared to some of the most recent Bollywood blockbusters, yet it is a significant achievement for a film with no prior buzz and stiff competition from Scarlett Johansson's Jurassic World: Rebirth. The film grossed Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day and ended its debut weekend at Rs 16.17 crore, indicating a solid start.
With three big releases coming this weekend including Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey's Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, RajKummar Rao's Maalik and David Corenswet's much-anticipated Superman, the collection of Metro… In Dino might get hampered.
Metro… In Dino follows the interconnected stories of several couples navigating modern love and relationships in the backdrop of metro cities. The film explores the complexities, shifts and unexpected choices that define love in contemporary times. It is a spiritual sequel to the 2007 romantic drama, Life…In A Metro.
While Konkona is the only actor to have been cast since 2007, Pankaj plays a character similar to Irrfan Khan's Monty opposite her. He is presented as a quirky, emotionally complex individual negotiating the complexities of modern relationships.
The film is receiving praise for its heartfelt storytelling, ensemble cast performances and Pritam's evocative songs such as Zamaana Lage, Aur Mohabbat Kitni Karoon, Qayde Se, Dil Ka Kya and others.
Anurag Basu's next directorial venture is an untitled musical romantic drama featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in the lead roles. Backed by T-series, the film will be hitting the big screens on Diwali this year. It will face a big competition with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's horror-comedy, Thama.
