Inside Alesha Dixon's last-ditch attempt to save marriage after 'rocky patch'

Daily Mirror28-04-2025
Alesha Dixon reportedly confided to friends last year that she had split from Azuka Ononye, her partner of 12 years. But it's now thought the couple are giving their marriage another go
Alesha Dixon has rekindled her romance with husband Azuka Ononye after their marriage hit a "really rocky patch" last year, according to reports.
Alesha, 46, and Azuka are believed to have started dating in 2007 after meeting on tour and secretly tied the knot ten years later, in 2017. Together they share two daughters, Azura, 11, and Anaya, five.

But at the end of 2024, Alesha reportedly confided to friends that she had split from her partner of 12 years because their relationship had become more like a friendship. She further said that they would remain in the same home for the sake of their children—and it was that close proximity that ultimately helped spark their relationship.

A source told the Sun:"They went through a really rocky patch and decided to call it a day. It had been difficult for a long time and Alesha just couldn't see a way forward. AZ even moved out to a hotel for a while, despite the fact they were co-parenting.
"But there is still a huge amount of feeling between them. They've been together for 12 years and have two beautiful children. So they have decided to give it one last try.
"They both desperately want to be a family again and are going to do all it takes to make it work. But Alesha's friends aren't convinced it will last. Ultimately, none of their problems have been fixed, so it's going to be tough."
Why Britain's Got Talent's Alesha Dixon is still living with husband a year after split
Prior to meeting Azuka - who works as a choreographer and creative director - Alesha was briefly married to So Solid Crew's MC Harvey, but she divorced him following his affair with singer Javine Hylton. She previously spoke about the start of her romance with Azuka during a 2016 appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.

She confirmed that they started out as friends when Alesha was on the road for her music and Azuka was a dancer. "I was kind of playing hard to get for about a year," the star confessed.
"And then I had the foot operation and I couldn't walk and he was literally sleeping on the floor looking after me every day. I was just looking at him thinking, 'That is for better or for worse isn't it.' I looked a state, he was sleeping on the floor because I was on the couch, I couldn't even get up the stairs. If he can carry me to the toilet then he's a keeper."
Alesha later sweetly admitted she didn't see herself having children until she met her husband. Speaking on their relationship on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast, she shared: "He was the first person that I'd met, that I knew that we could have children together because of our values, our morals, our thinking aligned…
"The thought of having children with someone who could do something toxic or show them something toxic that I saw as a child frightened me more than anything in the world."

Bobby Brazier and his brother Freddy puts family feud aside for one night as they reunite at 101 Dalmatians: The Musical to watch father Jeff's debut

Bobby Brazier and his brother Freddy put their family feud aside for one night to support their father Jeff in 101 Dalmatians: The Musical on Thursday. The brothers reunited to watch their father make his debut in the West End show at the Eventim Apollo in London. Jeff, who plays Casper, stars alongside JLS heartthrob Aston Merrygold, who stars as his onscreen brother Jasper. Britain's Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas stars as Cruella De Vil at London's Eventim Apollo Theatre for six-weeks only this summer. 101 Dalmatians: The Musical is now playing at the Eventim Apollo in London until August 30. TV presenter Jeff, 46, shares Bobby, 22, and Freddy, 20, with late reality star Jade Goody. The trio recently reunited at a family party to celebrate Jeff's mother Janette's birthday. Freddie is currently in the midst of a legal battle with Jeff over his welfare. It is reported Jeff, has set up a court date to stop Freddy seeing his maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden, 68, amid rising concerns over his well being. Jeff has long insisted she is a bad influence on the troubled youngster - with the pair enduring a series of very public disputes over the years. But last month The Mail On Sunday revealed that Freddie was again spending time at Jackiey's Bermondsey flat despite his father filing court paperwork in an effort to keep his son away. Family friends say the duo remain 'extremely close,' explaining: 'Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his Nanny for very long - they've always had a strong bond, Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much. 'They had a great time together, playing with her dog and catching up at her flat - where he has often stayed over the years. Whatever Jeff hoped to achieve with his legal efforts, it hasn't worked.' In June, Freddy announced on Instagram that he was going to a rehabilitation centre in Spain, admitting he had been addicted to smoking since he was 12 and was keen to seek treatment. He said: 'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop it was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat okay.' Jeff (L), who plays Casper, stars alongside JLS heartthrob Aston Merrygold (R), who stars as his onscreen brother Jasper But days after the admission, Freddy posted again online saying he had changed his mind, writing: 'You know what I don't need rehab. I just need a holiday with a good group of boys or a retreat.' Freddy lost his mother, former Big Brother star Jade, to cervical cancer in 2009 when he was just four years old. During his appearance on BBC's Celebrity Race Across the World, Bobby spoke on the grief he has suffered following his mother's tragic passing. He said: 'I don't really remember being held by my mum… if I had more memories with her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me, but I think I would rather that than not remembering the things I had done with my mum.' Freddy admitted he 'misses the bond' he shared with older brother Bobby in a heartbreaking Instagram last month. The Race Across The World star posted throwback videos as he reminisced about the good times he and Bobby shared during the coronavirus. One video Freddy posted saw the Brazier brothers bashing their heads against a pumpkin on a farm. He wrote: 'Only thing I miss about Covid is the amount of time I had with my brother to bond and make memories and have a laugh.' In another post, Freddy and Bobby larked around in the kitchen in a video while dad Jeff cooked dinner.

Harry and Meghan's ‘desperate' reason for reunion with Royal Family

It was reported last week that Prince Harry is seeking a reconciliation with King Charles and that his and Meghan's multimillion pound Netflix deal will soon come to an end. It was reported last week that a truce could be on the cards for King Charles and Prince Harry when aides for both royals met in London. ‌ Now a royal expert has had his say on the alleged reconciliation following reports that Harry and wife Meghan Markle 's lucrative deal with Netflix could be coming to an end. ‌ Robert Hobson reckons that Harry and Meghan are now looking for 'handouts' from the King after Harry caused controversy earlier this year when he told a BBC interviewer he was no longer in touch with the monarch. ‌ Speaking on the Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Jobson said: 'Well, the deal was always set at about $100 million, wasn't it? And the talk of that figure sort of blew a lot of people's minds, but I think that was for productions and things that they're supposed to have done. 'Where does it leave them? Probably with a bit of a bowl out, looking for some handouts. Maybe that's why they were over with their staff, were over here having discussions with the King. I don't know. 'The reality is in the past they got support from the King and the late Queen , and they said they were going to go and make their way. They've lost Spotify, they've lost Netflix. They can't rely on the spare money forever, can they?' ‌ Jobson was joined on the show, as writes the Mirror, by Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills, who voiced her own suggestions on what Harry and Meghan could be set to do when the contract with Netflix ends in September. She said: 'It's just fascinating. They have this very expensive lifestyle. They have to pay for their security, pay for that big mansion. How do you kind of keep the money coming in?' ‌ Reports surfaced earlier this month that Netflix will not be renewing its five-year deal - believed to be worth about £100million - with the Sussexes when it finishes up. Since signing up with the streaming giant in September 2020, they've collaborated on three big projects - their 2021 docuseries Harry & Meghan, Harry's polo documentary and Meghan's lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. However it was reported that the big-budget projects failed to bring in the audience numbers that Netflix bosses had wanted. With Love, Meghan was the 383rd most watched show worldwide while Polo came in at 3,436th place with just 500,000 views. Harry previously told Oprah Winfrey in a 2021 interview that the deals with the likes of Netflix 'were never part of the plan' but they were forced to take them on in the wake of them being denied official security following their exit from royal duties. He said: "That was suggested by somebody else by the point where my family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
